2018 HONDA CR-V with 2755.0 miles

I was driving to get license renewed when my car lost power and began to coast. The engine was on and i had to gun it to pick up speed. I turned around and headed for the Honda dealership. Upon getting there all systems were lit up maintenance wise and smoke was coming out of the underside where the brakes are. The service advisor said when she went around the car that it was so hot it would have burned her. Service tech said left front brakes extremly heated and smoke coming from the area. Found brakes have gotten hot. Cleared code present C0040-12. Brake switch stuck on. I advised never used hold brake unless i was sitting on steep hill. Tech unable to make vehicle do what it was doing to me but, the minute i got it out on the highway, it started doing the same thing. Tech advised brake pads ok and rotors have some heat spots in them but ok. They went ahead and changed the oil!!!!

Esc and traction control would not engage. It stated it needed servicing an dash info center. Took car to dealer and first they could not find the problem. After 4 hours they call and said the front wheel hub had to be replaced. Code # C0040, right front hub was dropping signal.. This was done at a cost of $636.70 to me. A car with 16,000 miles, don't think this should happen. Just received a recall notice on this car from gm, so far i have not been notified of any fix for this recall./ recall # 13036. I feel gm owes me some money for this repair.

2008 CHEVROLET EXPRESS CUTAWAY VAN with 24926.0 miles

This is a 2008 Chevrolet 3500 cutaway school bus with 24,926 miles on. The driver was coming to a stop traveling approximately 15 mph. He applied the brakes and the pedal went to the floor. The bus then rear ended a another van which then hit the rear of a postal truck. The drivers of the two other vehicles were taken away by ambulance complaining of back injuries. The bus was examined at the scene of the accident by two penndot class 7 inspection mechanics verifying that the brake pedal went to the floor. The tow truck driver (third party tower) also checked the brakes and opened the master cylinder to see if the fluid was down or empty and stated that it was full. The bus was towed to our garage where we moved the bus and then had a brake pedal. There were two lights on the dash, the abs light and the "brake light" (pictures taken). We read the codes (obd ii) and had C0035 - left front wheel sensor circuit malfunction, and C0040 - left front wheel speed sensor circuit malfunction (pictures taken). The bus was driven around and did have brakes. This same bus was at the local Chevrolet dealer november 09,2010 to have both front abs sensors replaced (dealer work order available). It was taken to the dealer because of continued complaints of the brakes failing to stop the bus. As the drivers described the problem - " it was like trying to stop on ice". The sensors were replaced and the bus was put back in service. This is a very unsafe condition, particularly since this is a school bus!

2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA with 55636.0 miles

I have not had an incidence but very concerned about the malfunction that is going on with my vehicle at this time..I noticed a scrubbing/grumbling noise when i would turn the wheel either way left or right. After vehicle being put on machine for testing it was discovered that the upper strut mounts and bearing were worn and noisy on front struts......Also my abs and traction control light both came on at the same time and would not go off, the information system in vehicle recommended brakes be service.....The results from car being tested showed both front hubs have slack and both front wheel speed sensor harness are coming apart inside wire installation. The codes for abs/traction control is...C0040 00.C0040.

2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 with 45000.0 miles

At 45,000 mi. Abs began activating, at slow speed, when stopping. Abs light was not lite and brakes were effective. Based on the C0040 diagnostic code, replaced rt front hub/abs sensor assy. At a cost of $400. Eventually, all hub sensors began giving false indications. Was told by dealer it was attributed to a defective design, but there was no bulletin or recall to remedy the problem. Cannot afford to replace all hubs if it is only going to happen again. Gm should make good on these repairs.

2005 CHEVROLET COLORADO with 109000. miles

The abs light comes on and off frequently. I brought to dealership and was told that its because the hub bearing and wheel sensors are rubbing against abs light wire to cause it to turn on. And there is a bulletin for this problem but not recall so i have to pay for it. Not my problem that gm knows of problem with hub bearing rubbing my abs light wire. When abs light is on my abs brakes do not work. This cant be safe the abs coming on and off as you drive. Needs to be recalled. The bulletin number is #pit3460n abs light on with ebcm dtcs C0035 C0040 C0220 and or C0221. Abs and or brake light may illuminate at times.

2005 CHEVROLET COLORADO with 75234.0 miles

I have a 2005 chevy Colorado 2wd. I have a abs problem, the abs fault comes on while driving down the road. Checked codes getting C0035 C0040 C0220. I found bad wheel hub on left side. Replaced hub and abs sensor. Still had problem checked codes again, told me the right side abs sensor bad. I had replaced hub and sensor on the right side. The problem still there, spoke with a gm rep. Told me there was nothing they could for me except bring it in and check the problem. I am a ase certified mechanic so i do all my own work. With this problem i have abs stops while driving on dry normal surface roads at low speeds the truck will dart across the road and not stop until you pump the brakes . The problem has been happening everyday for a month. I have 75,550 miles on the truck, when i first bought the truck it only did it when the roads where wet.Not sure what to do about the issue except gm needs to recall and repair the issue. I have over $650.00 tied up in the brake system on this truck only because i do my own work, if i went to the dealer who knows what it would cost me.

2004 CHEVROLET COLORADO with 12570.0 miles

Driver's side electrical button control pad inoperable at irregular and inconsistent instances. Upon pushing driver's side window electrical button, driver side window will not roll down. However, the driver's back, passenger front side, and passenger back side electrical keypad window buttons remain operable. Both the driver and front passenger lock/unlock electrical keypad buttons are inoperable. Upon turning off engine, removing key, exiting vehicle, closing all doors, and pushing the keyless entry lock and/or unlock buttons result in response from keyless locking mechanism. When key is left in ignition and engine running, upon pressing either the lock/unlock electrical buttons on the driver's door or pressing the keyless entry lock/unlock buttons result in a double "dinging" sound from the dashboard display but no other indication is produced from dashboard. Dealer response; customer copy invoice: operate window, check connector on switch. Window operates normally, cannot duplicate customer complaint. Abs light will come on and stay for an indeterminate amount of time. Normal and correct operation of abs dashboard display light indeterminate. Results in customer concern for safety of driver and all passengers relying on correct functioning of abs brake system. Dealer customer copy invoice: scan computer code C0040. Run flow chart, found right front hub and sensor had intermittent open circuit. Replaced right front hub and speed sensor. Upon starting vehicle to warm up engine in 40-50 degree fahrenheit environmental conditions, inside manual heat-directional knob will not turn unless extreme pressure is applied. Dealer customer copy invoice: compare knob operation with another Colorado tension knob is the same. Cannot duplicate customer complaint at this time.
