2010 TOYOTA TUNDRA with 29000.0 miles

My vehicle began to display the vsc (vehicle stability control) light, constantly on, last week when i turned it on. Several days later the brake light and abs light also became constantly on. I decided to take it to the nearest Toyota dealer and they stated that the vehicle is giving the following codes: C1203 - ecm communication circuit C1232 - deceleration sensor C1336 - zero point calibration of deceleration sensor undone the service manager told me that they were going to try to re-flash the computer and calibrate affected items but if it wasn't possible that the sensor assembly, yaw sensor was bad and needed replacement, totaling $1305. 2 hours later he called me back to tell me that they couldn't re-flash the computer and that the issue is not the sensor assembly, yaw sensor but the abs actuator assembly, totaling over $2700. I'm reporting this since i've seen a bunch of similar cases but nothing concrete from Toyota. I really don't know if this issue is un-safe or not since there are no physical symptoms except not having abs nor traction control.

2004 TOYOTA SEQUOIA with 120000. miles

Brake light will occasionally come on and stay on. I took it to a repair shop and no code could be found and the light had gone out. I had new tires put on, brake pads replaced, and rotors turned.Brake light continued to occasionally come on. Recently the brakes started making a grinding noise. I took it to Toyota and was told the following codes: C1203, C1223, and C1247. Recommended brake booster and skid control computer be replaced at a cost of over $2k. Research shows that Toyota knows about this repeated problem and has not issued a recall on the 2004 although they did on the 03.

I have a 2003 Toyota sequoia and the vsc and traction control lights come on for no reason and the traction control does not engage properly. My vehicle only has 61,000 miles on it.. Took it to dealer they said the only recall is for a software computer update. They updated and still have problem. Took it back in today and was told error code C1203 found need new translate computer assembly. Clearly there is something wrong with all of the sequoia tracking systems... Toyota needs to replace these parts free of charge. Why should i be out of pocket 1000 for repairs for something they know is a bad part! Please help!

2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA with 85000.0 miles

For the past year intermittently brake light on dash came on, if i turned off vehicle, restarted then the light stays off until the next time. Now with 80,000 miles on 2003 Sequoia vsc off, vsc trac & check engine lights came on going about 30 mpg. Took vehicle in for service found out there is a 'service bulletin' dating back to 2003 that Toyota is aware of computer failure concerning this issue. Computer codes are C1223, C1203 and C1247. I am concerned about spending $1700 for fix when most complaints say that it just re-occurs. Please address this promptly. I drive 5 children to an from school on highway every day.

2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA with 80000.0 miles

In 2005 bought 2003 Toyota Sequoia with 20,000miles in 2007 check engine light came on the dealer codes were C1223, C1247,C1203 had to replace computer assy. Replace translate control unit and reset readiness codes. This computer controls traction and loss of power. In 7/09 the "vsc trac" and "trac off" lights and abs came on. I believe these are all safety issues that plague this Toyota model and recall is inorder. Are we going to wait for people to die before a recall is given?

2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA

I bought 2003 Toyota Sequoia. I am getting the vsc traction control and abs light on. Checked with other Sequoia owner and they have similar problem. I went to checked the car and was told that the ecu computer is faulty. The faulty ecu needs to be replaced. Since this is wide spread problem with 03 Sequoia it should be recalled. This is a safety issue. Here are the codes: C1203, C1223,C1244.

My Sequoia 2003 with 31,000 miles, it showed brake light on. So i thought the brake pads need to be changed so i did. But the light still came on and off some days. About 4 weeks after, vsc lights and abs lights came on so i took it to the dealer and was told that the computer unit for tracking must be replaced and would cost me part and labor $1650. Dealer pulled up codes C1241, C1231, C1223, and C1203. It seems from multiple identical complaints, Toyota has made a faulty part and should make the recall for the safety of the customer.

2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA with 30558.0 miles

I bought a used 2003 Toyota Sequoia in 2004. It currently has 30130 miles on it. I am the second owner. The problem: sporadic vsc/atrac malfunction. 1. I had been advised to go in for Toyota campaign ssc 50j for ball joint safety recall. This was done at fremont Toyota on may 30, 2008. 2. On june 12, 2008, the vehicle skid control and traction control starts disengaging on its own, while i was driving the vehicle on us 101 north freeway on my way home from a trip to monterrey bay aquarium. 3. Description of the problem: the vsc/atrac indicator lights changes state to on and the system will inadvertently engage and disengage without any warning. To reset,i had to pull over to the side of the freeway and restart the vehicle. The problem repeated a dozen times, until i reached home. So i took the vehicle in to fremont Toyota on june 14, 2008 and was told there is error code C1231 and C1203 and the reason is faulty engine and traction control computers. 4. I was not convinced with the answer and decided to do my own research on the nhtsa site and discussion forums on the net and found out that to solve this issue, Toyota modified its skid control logic and the vsc communication between skid control computer and the engine control module to rectify this problem (please refer nhtsa# 00303 & br00203, diagnostics codes C1231 & C1203). 5. I called up fremont Toyota in california about what i found out and was told by the service advisor that i had to replace the existing vsc & ecu computers, with updated/redesigned modules at my expense (costs of $2700) i think this is unreasonable since, i consider this a manufacturing defect since the fix calls for a computer upgrade. I am writing to let your office know that Toyota dealer and Toyota north america will not acknowledge this problem. I can be reached at (510) 471-6937 if you have further questions. Sincerely, shaji ravindranathan

2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA with 82000.0 miles

2003 Sequoia limited vsc / trac control lights have been on almost continuously since 3/1/2007, indicating that the stability control and traction control were not functioning. At various times the abs kicked in even though the brakes were not applied. In wet conditions on 3/17/07, the suv did not properly respond to brake or steering, causing the suv to drift into the oncoming lane. Fortunately, there was no traffic in the lane at the time. This was a huge safety issue. At the dealer, codes C1241, C1231, C1223, and C1203 came up. Diagnosis - translate and skid control computers needed to be replaced. Toyota tsbs br002-03 and br003-03 appeared to be related, and lead me to believe there was a known flaw in computer logic. *ak

2003 Toyota Sequoia - almost crashed when a malfunction with the vehicle skid control ecu occurred. Caused car to lose power, brake fluttered and made grinding noise, and alarm sounded in cabin of car. Trac off and vsc trac lights came on. Thousand oaks Toyota (ca) pulled codes C1203 and C1231. Quote for repair = $2100.00 (to replace trans late ecu and skid control ecu). Unfortunately, i have 41k miles on it and warranty ended at 36k (36 months was up in december of last year). Many reports of same problem in Sequoias on various websites. Toyota is refusing to pay for repairs. Car has not been repaired at this time. *nm
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,

2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA SR5 with 54546.0 miles

My 2003 Toyota sequoia vsc traction system has failed 5 times. The system failed at 54,546, again at 78,358, again at 93,939, again at 104,238, and the last time at 145,000. The first time code c124 C1231 replaced steering sensor. The second time code C1231 replaced steering angle sensor. The third time code C1203 1231 replaced and reprogrammed steering angle sensor. The fourth time no code indicated, but replaced skid control ecm. The fifth time i brought in in for the recall, it did not qualify and the dealership would not diagnose without me paying for it, so i do not have a code yet. I am in a battle with Toyota and the dealership about who should pay for this defective system. I have paid portions the first 2 occasions. When the failure occurs it happens one of two ways. The first way is when i the vehicle is first started and is at about 4 miles per hour, the car thinks i am skidding, the brakes go on automatically, a horrible screeching sound occurs, and after a couple of seconds the brakes are released and the system is deactivated and both the vsc lights go on on the dashboard. The second way is that i start the car and at some time while driving the system shuts off without any warning and the lights on the dashboard go on indicating that the system is not engaged. I recently read about the mushy pedal syndrome, and i have experienced that as well, but i never associated the symptom with anything specific. When it happens it is often as i am leaving my 300ft driveway and entering my street. *kb

My vehicle has an issue with the abs skid control. When the mechanic ran the check it came back with error codes C1203, C1223, C1247. I purchased hated this vehicle because i have a growing family and i needed the third row seating. The problem with the braking system happens when i have to stop quickly, which is a a safety concern. I believe there is an issue with the computer and the skid control or anti locking brakes.

Hello, i have a 2003 Toyota sequioa where the engine light and the vcs lights are both on. I saw on your page some really helpful information on this make/model recall. I've reached out to Toyota customer service because there was a recall on this make/model but they said that my vin number was not part of that recall, even though it's having the same issues?? The recall was that Toyota had to replace the skid control engine control unit (ecu) and upgrade program logic in its vehicle stability control (vcs) system. I took my vehicle in to get it inspected and they provided me with 3 codes: C1203 - engine control system communication circuit malfunction C1360 - vehicle skid control master pressure sensor malfunction P0420 - catalyst system efficiency below threshold these are all system issues. Can you help me?

2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA with 10000.0 miles

Shortly after purchasing my Toyota Sequoia in 2003, there was a recall on the vehicle stability (vsc) system and the trac system. I had the recall repaired at that time. In 2010, there was a recall again on the same system and i again had it repaired in 2011. Shortly after that, the incident occurred again. I again brought my vehicle into the dealer but was told the Sequoia did not have any open recalls on it and the repairs were for me to handle. At that time, i did not get the repair fixed because of the cost Toyota was charging for the repair. I explained to the dealer it was the very same defect that kept reoccurring and was told that there was no recall. I was esentially sent away. I recently (8/31/15) paid for a diagnostic to be preformed on my Sequoia and the codes for the issue came up again. Nhtsa campaign #10v176000 the Toyota codes that came up are C1203,C1223,C1244,C1247. I spoke with Toyota and they acknowledge the recall and that my Sequoia is included but insist, that because of the year of my vehicle, i am no longer eligible to be reimbersed for this recall. The then offered me money off purchasing a new Toyota instead of honoring and standing by their product. I am not in the market to by a new vehicle at this time and am seeking that Toyota absorb the cost of the recall to repair the safety issues.

Vsc, abs, traction control and brake warning instrument lights on. Abs and traction control and vsc are inoperable due to a computer malfunction. This is an extremely common issue with first generation Sequoias. My specific codes are C1241 and C1203. Toyota told me i will need a new computer to controls those systems at a 921 dollar expense. These issues have been ongoing since 2009.
