2002 CHEVROLET IMPALA with 89000.0 miles

I have a 2002 Chevrolet Impala with the abs/traction control warning lamp on problem. This problem can be intermittent. The car has approximately 98,764 miles on it. The problem was first noticed at about 89,000 miles. There is an assorted amount of symptoms that go along with this issue. This problem is dangerous and could possibly result in an accident. Here are the symptoms you may experience you may have one or more of the following symptoms: 1. After start up (without the brake pedal depressed) the abs/traction lamp may or may not come on. This is temperature dependent cold start or hot restart (it seems to occur more frequently at the both extremes). 2. The abs brakes may cycle on just during normal braking. This may cause the vehicle to unexpectedly pull to the right. 3. The abs brakes may cycle on while making a slow right hand turn with the brakes applied lightly. 4. The abs brakes may cycle on when traveling on a straight roadway at about 40 mph and then coming to a slow stop with the brake pedal lightly applied. 5. The abs/traction control lamp may come on while traveling in light and heavy rain. This may also occur after running the car though an automatic car wash. It should be noted that you may hear the abs pump motor cycle a number of times (usually 3) before the indicator lamps come on. Technical information: the following failure codes may be stored in the ebcm see below: C1216 electronic brake control module commanded pressure release is to long. C1221 lf wheel speed sensor input signal is 0. C1222 rf wheel speed sensor input signal is 0. C1223 lr wheel speed sensor input signal is 0. C1224 right rear wheel speed sensor input signal = 0. C1225 left front excessive wheel speed sensor variation. C1226 right front excessive wheel speed sensor variation. C1232 left front wheel speed sensor circuit is open or shorted. 2001 CHEVROLET IMPALA with 115000. miles

We bought this car with approximately 98,000 miles - gas gauge hasn't worked from beginning. Back in may had wheel bearings changed and ever since abs comes on constantly while applying brake and slowing down. Abs light comes on at times. Abs will kick in about 3 times after applying brakes. Nephew scanned it to see codes and they were: C1221 lf wheel speed sensor input signal is 0 C1222 rf wheel speed sensor input signal is 0. Is there a recall for this issue???

2001 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO with 126711. miles

Stop & go driving. Abs warning light comes on, traction control turns off, service traction control warning light comes on, brake pedal vibrates. All lights stay on while driving but reset after ignition turn off/ turn on procedure as described in owners manual. Next day, same lights & warnings. Take vehicle to dealer on 4/05/06. "computer checked system codes P1189, P0135, C1216 in system. Items tested per trouble tree. All items test good." no charge. Next day, 4/6/06, same warnings! Take to dealer again without resetting warnings. No computer system codes showing, but no input signal from right front hub. Dealer replaces right front hub assembly - cost $479. Vehicle seems fine, until about 4/20 when brake pedal vibration comes back and warning lights come on and off. I turned off the traction control system and everything was fine for several days. On 4/25, with the traction system off, the pedal vibration was back and the abs & traction control warning lights came on again. Went back to dealer. Although they told me the computer check show codes of C1222 and C1226, the codes do not show on my invoice. Code C1226 appears on nhtsa technical service bulletin item number 10017271 for my year and make of vehicle. However the service bulletin number 3500 is not know to the dealer as a valid tsb number, and they could not locate any information about it. Dealer "diagnosed and replaced ebtcm, and programmed system" - cost $697. I feel that by replacing the "brain" (ebtcm) and programming it, the dealer and/or the manufacturer may be covering up a potential safety issue with either one or both systems, abs and traction control. I also feel that the dealer put me and my family in a dangerous position by failing to diagnosis any problems on the first visit, and then doing it again by making me feel safe by paying for a replacement part that has nothing to do with either system! *nm
