  General motors llc (gm) is recalling certain model year 1998-1999 chevrolet lumina and oldsmobile intrigue, 1997-2004 buick regal and pontiac grand prix, 2000-2004 chevrolet impala, and 1998-2004 chevrolet monte carlo vehicles. The affected vehicles were previously repaired under recalls 08v-118, 09v-116, and 15v-201 to address the possibility that engine oil may drip onto the hot exhaust manifold.
  the remedy applied under recalls 08v-118, 09v-116, and 15v-201 did not adequately remove the safety risk. Under the improved remedy, dealers will replace the engine?S front valve cover and gasket. Vehicles that are covered by recalls 08v-118, 09v-116, or 15v-201 that have not yet received the original remedy will instead receive the improved remedy under the original recall number. The recall began on february 19, 2016. • Recall 104559 [USA]: If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
  This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General motors llc (gm) notified the agency on july 3, 2014, that they are recalling 5,877,718 model year 2000-2005 chevrolet impala and monte carlo, 1997-2003 chevrolet malibu, 2004-2005 malibu classic, 1999-2004 oldsmobile alero, 1998-2002 oldsmobile intrigue, 1999-2005 pontiac grand am and 2004-2008 pontiac grand prix vehicles. In these models, the weight on the key ring and/or road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.

  Dorman products is recalling 3,900 intermediate steering shafts dorman part nos. 425-151, 425-152, and 425-153, (sold under dorman's "oe solutions" brand name), balkamp #'s 7-3057, 7-3058, 7-3059 (sold under the "napa" brand name), and platinum parts #'s 2425151, 2425152, and 2425153 manufactured during the month of september 2007. These replacement steering shafts can be used on the vehicles listed above. The weld connecting the inner tube to the outer tube may be defective.

  On certain vehicles equipped with a 3.8l engine, degradation of the front rocker cover gasket may result in eventual oil seepage. Under hard braking, drops of engine oil may be deposited on the exhaust manifold. If the manifold is hot enough and the oil runs below the heat shield, it may ignite into a small flame and, in some instances, the fire may spread to the plastic spark plug wire channel and beyond. An under-hood fire could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will replace the engine’s front valve cover and front-valve-cover gasket with new parts. The engine’s plastic “beauty” cover and plastic oil-fill-tube extension will also be removed, if they haven’t been already. Note: this recall supersedes and is an expansion of recalls 2008-081, 2009-105 and 2015-145. All vehicles having been inspected and/or serviced under the previous recall will require re-inspection and repair.

  On certain vehicles, a defect in the ignition switch could allow the switch to move out of the "run" position if the key ring is carrying added weight or the vehicle goes off-road or is subjected to some other jarring event. If this were to occur, engine power, power steering and power braking would be affected, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. The timing of the key movement out of the “run” position, relative to the activation of the sensing algorithm of the crash event, may also result in the airbags not deploying in a subsequent collision, increasing the risk of injury. Correction: for each key, dealers will install two key rings and modify the key ring opening shape. Note: until the correction is performed, all items should be removed from the key ring.

  Ea02-030 is closed with gmea02-030 is closed with gm?S actions in 03v-473 and 04v-090 recalling approximately 529,000 my 1998-99 c- and h-body vehicles equipped with defective fuel pressure regulators.These vehicles were equipped with plastic intake manifolds that are unable to contain pressures that occur in some backfire events and defective fuel pressure regulators with leaking diaphragms that can provide a source of fuel to produce a combustible air-fuel mixture in the manifold.The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by odi that no safety defect exists in the vehicles that are not included in gm?S recalls.Odi will continue to monitor the incidence of manifold ruptures and related fires in other my 1995-2002 gm passenger cars equipped with the subject intake manifold.For additional information, see the attached closing report.

I have a 2001 chevy impala and it has an instrument cluster issue with faulty warning lights and locking the radio and not wanting to start

Both headlights unexpectedly turn off while driving. Flicker on and off and then go off. Used to be able to let the car sit a few hours and they would work again. Now 2 nights ago they went off while driving at night....Won't come back on at all. Parking lights stay on, turn signals, and 4 way flashers still work, pull switch lever back for bright lights and both headlights work in bright mode as long as you keep holding back on the lever. This was an intermittent problem that no one has been able to figure out. Have had it looked at several times and problem still exists. Replaced hazard flashers swithc, replaced mutlifunction switch, replaced headlights switch. Problem still exists. Now lights are off and won't come back on no matter what we try.....Looking on the internet this is huge problem for impala's covering alot of years, this is a very dangerous issue when you loose your headlights totally at night while driving.......Once they go out/off it doesn't matter if you stop, park, move, bang on them, wiggle wires and connectors, they may or may not come back on. So far, this time, ours are not coming back on......Can't keep throwing money away to a dealer when they can't fix the problem either. They just want to start throwing parts at it and hopefully they finally fix it....That hasn't worked so far either.....

The contact stated that the abs warning light and check engine lights were illuminated. The vehicle was started and the vehicle loss brakes and power steering functionality with the check engine warning light remaining illuminated. The contact was previously informed that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v400000 (electrical system) however, the vehicle was not repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
