2012 FORD FUSION with 60000.0 miles

Vehicle loss power steering while driving. Vehicle revert to manual steering mode while driving. It was so dangerous, not able to drive safely. During my investigation i found that Ford already had recalled for similar fault for certain vins range but not for all vins ( recall notice : 15s18/nhtsa recall 15v-340). Unfortunately my vin is included in the recall vins. This already happened three time in my car, i took my car to mechanic they found following two error code C1277 (power steering angle sensor) C1963 (stability calibration - 1&2 circuit failure) i am attaching all three invoices from all mechanic garages where you can find their findings.

I have loss of electric power steering assist while driving and system defaults to manual steering mode. Error code C1277 is the error code. The vehicle was in motion when the power steering went out. Now every time we drive our car we have to do manual steering. Ford is refusing to fix my vehicle since it is not on the recall list. I am requesting that my vehicle be put on the recall list as i am having the exact issues others has complained about for power steering electrical issues.

Known issue, safety recall for sudden loss of power steering 15s18, 14s06 and supplement and15n01 extended. Ford motor company will only repair the safety issue if certain internal fault codes are present indicating that certain components are defective, unfortunately there are more components that fail causing power steering loss, 2 codes that presented that resulted in power steering loss are C1277 and C1963 but these are not covered by the safety recall according to Ford. The issue is safety and all components that cause the sudden loss of power steering need to be covered under the safety recall and repaired at no charge to the consumer. I believe that Ford is skirting their responsibility to repair the the defective autos using the internal fault codes as an excuse. It doesn't matter what code is present when power steering fails as the codes are not the safety issue. The steering gear in this Fusion was replaced 8/2017. The power steering failed again and was towed to Ford in 3/2018, and the software was updated at owners expense and once again the power steering failed and was towed to Ford in 3/2018 and according to Ford the steering gear was replaced yet again at the owners expense, then the next day failed once more and the towed once more to Ford. Ford claiming that the first gear replacement closed out the recall. That is 4 power steering failures in the same car. Ford refuses to take responsibility for the defective components and has instead shifted to cost to the owners. There are hundreds of consumers that have faced this issue. The safety recall is not having the desired effect of repairing the issue and now Ford is playing a waiting game as the vehicles are reaching the 150 thousand mile threshold where by Ford will refuse to repair the problem. There are about 500 thousand of these defective cars on the road today and we are no safer.

Error code C1277 power steering failure. Driving down the hwy power steering failure light/warning comes on and power steering goes out. Took everything in my power to keep the car between the lines. This is very unsafe for it makes the vehicle very unsafe to drive.

I was traveling 45 mph on a dry, 2 lane, macadam road no shoulders when my power steering went out. "advance trac" light on, chimes & message: "no power assist". I drove with no power steering for 5 miles,10 mph to a safe place to park. Car off for over an hour, started & had power steering. Slowly drove 33 mile home. Ford dealer next day: no definite codes, power steering now working, could need a pscm, they called Ford engineers hot line. We were told it could be a fluke, never happen again; best to drive car in with power steering not working. Repair cost $1500. We did not repair, knowing others had this problem even after repairs. Didn't drive car except for short, low-speed trips. 5/1/15, needed to drive the turnpike 65-70 mph & reached destination with power steering, but 7 hrs later, we started the car, "no power assist", no power steering. I called the dealership to have it towed - told them i wouldn't drive without power steering on the turnpike. They said to let it rest a bit - we did, 20 min, and it worked. Drove home; did not drive again until i took it to the dealership and told them they could have it until it did it to them. Which it did eventually. Dealership notes from 1st service: "cau ids tested fault codes U0100-20 C1963 -20 abs lost communication with". Notes from 2nd service: "cor pcm C1277-20 C200D rotation angle sensor circuit malfunction fault traced and replaced power steering control module steering gear assembly program and verified repairs." i had informed service of the recall pending, and they assured me, we would be reimbursed if recall does happen. No problem with power steering since 5/12/15 (repair date) however, the windshield wipers quit working 5/18/15 and did not go on until next day. I wonder if this is another 'glitch' & fear for what will glitch out next. If i could, i wouldn't drive this car, even though it had the repair.

2011 Ford Fusion se. 64000 miles. For no apparent reason, the power steering would not work when turning the car on. If turned off and on again, it works. It only happened randomly. After a couple times, i brought the car to my local Ford dealer. They said there was no error codes but changing the steering would be approx. $1800. After online research there's hundreds of cases like mine which for some reason are not covered by recall 15s18. Using a obd app i found error code C1277 which relates to the wheel angle sensor. Now the car will not have a functioning power steering at all.

Traveling at 55mph, when the service power steering now and advance trac light came on,, no power steering,,made it home,, tried it again in the morning still no power steering, had it towed to a Ford dealer, who said they cleared the codes and cant duplicate the problem,, the 4 codes stored were P07AE, U0415,, C1277,, C1963,, we live a rural area with no guard rails and between 20 to 150 foot drop offs,, if this would have happened to the wife,, which is her car to drive,, she wouldn't be able to steer this vehicle,, took me all i had to get it home,, not very confidant on letting her drive this car,, Ford needs to resolve this problem.

The electric power steering stopped working in august 2014 while i was driving the vehicle. Self test showed codes C1277, U3003, B1C83, B10AF, P0606b, C100B. I had to pay to have it replaced at the Ford dealership. My vin was not included in the Ford Fusion power steering recall of about 2014 or 2015 even though i had the same symptoms and failure described in this recall.

While traveling on a side road, the dic stated 'service power steering' then ' service advanced trac', shortly after the steering locked up and it displayed 'service power steering now'. Luckily i wasn't mid turn or my vehicle would have gone off the road or into on coming traffic. After restarting the vehicle there was no change in the condition. My obd reader displayed codes C1277 and C1963.

Driver error notice "service power steering now" displayed immediately, followed soon by "service advancetrac." just barely kept the vehicle on the road, avoiding a rather large ditch. Local mechanic diag revealed the following relevant diag codes: * C1277 (invalid or missing data for steering wheel angle sensor) * C1963 (stability control inhibit warning).

2001 TOYOTA SEQUOIA with 100000. miles

Started with both vsc and trac lights on. In both warm and colder temperatures, the car abs engages. Feels like driving over gravel. Car pulls to one side or another, and braking seems almost impossible. This became more and more common. It started once every couple of months, to almost every trip. Toyota read codes and stated that it was yaw rate sensor that needed to be replaced. Over a cost of $1800. We changes it and the car acted normally for 1 day. A day later the lights came back on and the skidding occurred again. Even after replacing the yaw rate sensor and performing a 0-point calibration, they read the codes, and showed the following: C0371 yaw rate sensor output signal malfunction C1208 steering position sensor output signal malfunction C1234 malfunction in yaw rate sensor C1271 low output voltage of right front speed sensor C1272 low output voltage of left front speed sensor C1273 low output voltage of right rear speed sensor C1274 low output voltage of left rear speed sensor C1275 abnormal change in output voltage of right front speed sensor C1276 abnormal change in output voltage of left front speed sensor C1277 abnormal change in output voltage of right rear speed sensor C1278 abnormal change in output voltage of left rear speed sensor C1279 deceleration sensor is faulty C1281 master cylinder pressure sensor output signal is faulty they estimated that the cost of repairing all of these sensors was approx $4500. The likelihood that all of these sensors gave out at the same time, to me is highly unlikely. There has been numerous complaints about this car's braking system and this seems to be an exploit of yet another shortcoming of this car. Currently if the car sits idling for more than 10 mins, the vsc and trac lights come on regardless of temperature outside.

1997 CADILLAC DEVILLE with 54500.0 miles

For over a year i have had a warning light indicating abs brakes and traction control problems, service steering system and service engine. They have not been able to fix it. I found a recall from 1997# 04v110000 where 156,000 1997 Cadillac Devilles were affected. Cadillac customer service said my vin was not included. Today that recall complaint was no longer showing on the nhtsa site. I've had some braking problems and was told by the dealer my brakes are fine. Steve, the service manager said i no longer had warranty and acted unconcerned. They said it would cost $800 to replace the ebtcm and that might not fix it. The dealer just acts like it is no problem. Apr 26, 2006 my dic display showed service steering system my mileage was 53,874. Invoice stated cust concern not duplicated. May 04,2006 service steering system message on dic. Traction control light on again. The invoice showed cause internal fault. Cadillac electrical and ac diagnosed shorted magna steer solenoid in the steering gear and a bad ebtcm. C1241 & C1277 replaced steering gear and set front toe. Showed replaced ebtcm misspelling for replaced. Cleared codes also. I had warranty and pd $100.July 10. 2006 invoice states again service steering system message on the dic. Diagnosed code C1241 as an open wire in the insulation c1 pin f of the ebtcm replaced pinf and repaired wiring, cleared code. Aug 11, 2006 i returned with only 54,595 mileage invoice again states anti-lock light and traction control light on interment. Stated npf no problem found. Another auto repair pulled up codes showing ebtcm stalled pump motor. Sept.7, 2007 again warning indicators. Abs brakes, traction, control and service engine. Alderson said it would cost around $800 and might not fix this problem. I was charged $93.05 for diagnosis and the problem still exists. Nhtsa should be aware of these brake and traction problems. This should have been fixed while i still had warranty.
