2011 CHEVROLET IMPALA with 107000. miles

4t65e transmission. I stop at a stop sign and go take off and my car won't move forward. I could get almost home in second gear and then nothing at all would work to move the car forward. I had reverse and still do but i cannot move forward in any gear. Code P1811. I had it looked at and when the transmission was open there was a piece of metal that was just lying there about an inch long. He said it was a missing apply lug that broke off one of the apply bands and that i would have to replace the transmission or have a complete rebuild. I just think a transmission should last more than 7 years. And i read this is common for that transmission but it happens more in 2000-2002 models.....But i guess it happens with the newer ones also.

1. My fuel gauge quit working as i was driving to work. All the other gauges kept working. The needle was pointing down and would move at the bottom when the vehicle was turned on and off. I spent 400.00 to replace the instrument cluster which appears to be a problem as listed on the complaints section. 2. I purchased a 2005 chev Impala 01/2006 with15,00 miles on it. I started to notice a bit of a hard shifting on take off, only after driving it in the city after about the 2nd year of driving. The problem never left, in fact it has gotten worse over the years that we have owned the car. The problem with my car is the transmission shifts hard and only seems to do it if you did a a lot of start and stopping and you could turn the car off and let it sit for 10 min. Or so then it won't do it again. Sometimes it would go for several days or weeks before it would happen again or will do it several times in a row. When i had the instrument cluster replaced i had them check for codes and found a P1811.

2005 CHEVROLET IMPALA with 122000. miles

First... My car all of the sudden started leaking like an oil tanker last january 2012, and the abs/traction control lights came on. Took the car to the chevy dealership, and had major repair work done on transmission, and engine for leaks. Spent $2100 and was quote $2600 to replace the abs/traction control modulator for my abs/traction control to work again. The code they pulled was C1218. Needless to say it has not been repaired yet. A month after spending this money, i had to replace the water pump, and almost a year later i had to replace a plastic elbow from the water pump to my radiator which was another $300. Then this past december 2012, my transmission all of the sudden jerked hard from 1st to 2nd and so on during local driving. Max speed limit is 40mph locally. Took it to chevy and was told i need a new transmission, so i took it for a second opinion and was told code P1811 was coded for a long shift, but that my transmission was a 1/2 quart low so they filled it with trans additive. They suggested i try a "transmission shop" for them to check because maybe my trans solenoid was bad, which would still cost quite a bit for repair, but not nearly as much as a new transmission. My car has 122,000 long highway miles, not local; stop & go. I do not feel my abs/traction control, nor my trans should be bad. I maintain my car, and based on my internet searches many people have had the exact same problems with these cars. I emailed chevy and was basically told this is my problem and no concession was offered on their part to assist me with these repairs. I have been laid off from my job, and returned to school so needless to say cannot afford a new car, but this car is costing more than it is worth. Chevy needs to quit ignoring these problems, and take care of loyal customers before they lose them.

2004 SATURN L300 with 91000.0 miles

Problem synopsis: while driving at freeway speeds (65 miles per hour) the vehicle lost power, causing the "reduced engine power" (rep) and "service vehicle soon" (svs) lights to illuminate. Upon pulling to the side of the road and shifting the vehicle into park, it would idle roughly until shutting the engine off. Vehicle would start immediately after, with high rpm at idle and hard shifts into gear. Vehicle would only exhibit these problems when the automatic transmission would shift gears, usually between 3rd and 4th gear. /// repair history: a repair shop diagnosed the problem as a failed engine control module, and a new one was installed into the vehicle. Cost of repair was approximately $1,100. Three months later (oct. 2011), the vehicle started exhibiting the same problems. Returned to the same shop, and repairmen could not find problem, simply clearing the obd-ii codes in the computer. Vehicle exhibited same symptoms once in november 2011 after a rain storm; no action was taken as vehicle did it only once. In december 2011, vehicle exhibited same problems four time during a 25-mile drive. Codes revealed P0606, P0700, P1811. Vehicle to be taken for a third time to repair shop to get this problem fixed.

2001 BUICK CENTURY with 63334.0 miles

We purchased this car (as is) for our grandson. On our way home from the dealer, as soon as the transmission warmed up (4-5 miles), the shifting was hard and jerking with a whine coming from the transmission. Took the car to a garage which found the computer code of P1811 and were told a complete rebuild would be necessary. Went online and discovered many others had complaints of the same nature. Would hope gm would come forward with reimbursement since its transmission in this model was incorrectly designed. The rebuilding garage owner even had to go to a special school to learn how to correct this problem in the Buick Century. After paying $1,757.25 to queens transmission, inc., in bradenton, fl (941-746-7480), the shifting is now normal.

Tl*- the contact owns a 2000 Buick Century with a current mileage of 70,200 miles. The transmission was hesitating in first gear. A mechanic at midway service center looked at the vehicle on 4-13-07 and the code P1811 for transmission shift valve was detected. The contact stated that he had the same problem on 10/18/2004 with a failure mileage of 51,570 miles. At the time, the dealer, jim stutzman, replaced the pc solenoid transmission shift valve part #10478146. Ak

Transmission failure/replacement at 50,000 odometer reading on 2000 Saturn lw2, engine l81 3.0 liter v-6, vin [xxx].....On october 6, 2003 i was advised by the service manager of Saturn of woodbridge (virginia) that. *ak my 2000 Saturn lw2 needed a new transmission at a cost of $3,800. The vehicle had just undergone the 51,000 scheduled maintenance. The automatic transmission was replaced on october 9, 2003 at a cost to me of $1,500. It is my considered opinion that an automobile transmission is not supposed to fail without explained/anticipated reason at such low mileage. Purchased new by me on may 27, 2000, every scheduled 3000 mile maintenance was completed on schedule. From april to october 2003 the service-engine-light illuminated several times but the service section at the dealership stated that nothing registered on the computer. The problem was "fixed" by re-setting the computer. On october 3, 2003 the computer indicated "code P1811" which led the technician to a bulletin numbered 02-t-84. What is this bulletin? Is it "2002-transmission-84th bulletin"? When i complained, Saturn volunteered to absorb all costs but $1,500. Saturn installed a rebuilt transmission on october 9, 2003 and kept my original (failed) transmission for return to Saturn for rebuilding. Did Saturn know that the transmission had a propensity to fail? Did Saturn really absorb part of what was claimed to be a $3,800 (rebuilt transmission) replacement cost? I don't think i should have been liable for the failure of the transmission. This report appears to be similar to odi number 10010259 described march 8, 2003 regarding a 2000 l series wagon automatic transmission problem. Supporting documentation is available. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.S.C. 552(b)(6).

2000 BUICK CENTURY with 33000.0 miles

Two hundred miles away from home i started having tansmission problems on my 2000 Buick Century, limited edition, with 33,000 miles on it. Brought the car brand new and maintained it religiously. Shifting was extremely harsh. Did ok going 55 - 65 miles an hour on the freeway. Non freeway driving it went back to harsh shifting, whining engine, slow acceleration. Took it in to the dealer next am. Was told my car was out of warranty, and that pressure control solenoid valve needed to be replaced to the tune of $750. After talking with the assistant service manager, they agreed to a 50-50 split. However, i feel gm is solely responsible. They were aware of this two years ago. Fortunately, i wasn't stranded in the desert in 100 degrees temperature with my young grand children. It is my understanding that gm had issued a bulletin regarding this defective part. The pcs solenoids were made of a softer metal than the hole they ride in after a while they wear and start hanging up. The gm bulletin states, "slips, harsh shift or grage shifts, launch shudders, flares, erratic shifts and intermittent concerns, dtc P1811 or po748 set (replace pressure control solenoid valve assembly) #00-07-30-002b-(02/19/2002)." *ak
