2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE with 108000. miles

After my Grand Cherokee had the "n23" recall performed on it by the previous owner, the "service 4wd" indicator comes on and disables my transfer case shifting. I clear the codes and it works again for a short period of time then the codes return (C1406, C1405, C140F) disabling the shifting again. This appears to be a common issue with Grand Cherokees according to the information i have found on Jeepforum.

After n23 recall was performed, my Jeep will not engage in 4wheel drive lo. On startup it states, "service 4wd system". Many people are reported the same problem. The car will not shift into 4wd low or into neutral for towing. Chrysler error code is C140F and it is even listed in the reprogam instructions. I did not have this issue prior to the n23 recall.

Had the n23 recall and after words the 4 lo will not work took it back to the dealership and they checked it out and found a code C140F cleared the code and worked once and got the service 4lo system . Called chrysler and they seed this is the first that they header of it and they called the dealership made a appointment took it back in and they seed that the actuator went out but it worked before the n23 was done and that time they charged me and it still dose not work they won't me to buy a new actuator but i think it should be chrysler that should have to pay for the actuator.

2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE with 110000. miles

Chrysler issued a n23 recall notice due to cracking circuit boards in the transfer case actuator (vehicle may inadvertently shift in to neutral). Prior to the application of this recall my vehicle was capable of engaging 4lo. Afterwards (immediately afterwards in the dealership parking lot) the transfer case would not shift. Each attempt would result in a "service 4xd system" and would trigger a C140F trouble code. Chrysler refuses to acknowledge the recall flash to be the issue. From Jeep forums i have found myself to be one of hundreds if not more that encountered this issue. This recall is in essence a software work-around for a hardware issue. This recall is obviously a cheap attempt at fixing a costly issue of replacing the defective actuators with new. As a consumer i expect the manufacturer to fix potentially dangerous issues (such as what n23 attempts to do). However, it is not acceptable in doing so to damage the vehicle further or render systems inoperable.

At startup vehicle info center shows service 4wd system. Vehicle won't shift into 4wd low range if attempted service 4wd message come on and stays on until vehicle is shut off. Recall n23 was performed and now codes had set stopping transfer case operation. Codes C1405 and C140F cleared by dealer and claim it is fixed. Dealer charged for this service. *js
