2012 HONDA ACCORD with 76552.0 miles

The check engine light and vehicle stability assist lights came on first while the car was stationary. The obd codes were scanned and the code P0341 was read. The camshaft position sensor was replaced and the lights turned off and the P0341 codes were cleared. The second time the lights came on the car was in motion. The obd codes were scanned again and the code P1009 was read meaning the vtc actuator is bad and needs to be replaced. This is a very common issue with all 2008-2012 Accords and there has been service bulletins issued regarding the problem. There has also been a class action lawsuit about the issue. If there is not already, there needs to be a recall issued.

2008 HONDA ACCORD with 41000.0 miles

Check engine light intermittently on and off from 02/2016 (codes P1009 camshaft position and P0341 camshaft position a circuit each time). Car stalled a number of times when running stationary and in motion in august 2016. Honda dealer on august 9 found camshaft timing chain stretched and in need of replacement. Car had 41,059 miles on odometer and power train warranty of 60,000 miles or 5 years. Repair cost $1,562.90. Honda refused any compensation even though mileage well under 60,000 miles and the vehicle was in excellent working order including engine oil level. Repair should have been covered as an exception under warranty. Consumer reports magazine shows frequency of repair very poor for major engine problems for 2008 Honda Accord(obviously unknown at time of purchase 12/2007). Major engine problems not cited for Honda Accords from 2005 through 2015 in consumer reports magazine.

2007 ACURA RDX with 1200.0 miles

I purchased the vehicle on 11/23/06 and on 1/27/07, the P1009 check engine emission failure code came up on my navigation screen just as my car suddenly lost its ability to accelerate or maintain its current speed. My speed was reduce immediately from 60 mph to 20 mph and the rpm dropped from 3 to below 1. The car became sluggish and acted as though it was stalling. The car was immediately sent in for repair and i was told the solenoid was not installed correctly which cause the vehicle timing to be incorrect. Today is 2/28/07 and the car was towed away because the same error occurred along with a new error. The vsa failure alert appeared on my navigation screen followed by the P1009 check vehicle emission error. It has been 1 month to the tee and the same symptoms reappeared. The car lost its ability to accelerate and the engine stalled suddenly. *nm

    2005 HONDA CR-V with 136367. miles

Bought vehicle in august, used with 136,000 miles. The first week, the a/c compressor went out. The 2nd week, the condenser. 2 weeks later the car stalled out. Check engine light, vsa and warning light came on. Was able to get it restarted and it was throwing 4 codes. P1009 61-1 62-1 83-1. Took it in under dealer warranty. The changed the o2 sensors and gave it back. 2 weeks later, same thing only now it was burning oil and gas and running really rich. The oil smells like gas even. They did a whole engine swap and a new starter, among other things. And 2 weeks later it stalled out again. And the crank shaft and vtec solenoid needed replaced. As well as the starter. 9 times i've had it and now after the same burning through oil and gas issues it's started smoking and making a grinding sound while idling.
