Metering Oil Pump Malfunction
DTC P1686, sometimes indicated as P168600 is an OBD diagnostic trouble code indicating a manufacturer-specific fault with the vehicle powertrain (i.e. engine and gearbox). This code identifies an error with the transmission (gearbox) causing metering oil pump malfunction.

2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE
We have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo. We bought this car from florida in september of 2010. We had it here in ny for 2 days before the problems started. We lost all of our gauges, all of our warning lights come on, power windows dont work, power mirrors dont work, command center goes down, door locks work intermittently. Chrysler Jeep is very unhelpful. We have put thousands of dollars into this problem and have seen online that a lot of other people are having this same problem in the years 99-2005. It is giving us a P1686 code and no one seems to be able to figure out the problem.
