P254B

PTO Speed Selector Sensor/Switch 1 Range/Performance

DTC P254B, sometimes indicated as P254B00 is an OBD diagnostic trouble code indicating a manufacturer-specific fault with the vehicle powertrain (i.e. engine and gearbox). This code identifies an error with the engine idling stability causing pto speed selector sensor/switch 1 range/performance.

This code is set when the powertrain control module (PCM) detects an incorrect signal from the power take-off (PTO) speed selector sensor/switch 1. This could be caused by a wiring issue, a faulty speed selector switch, or a malfunctioning PCM.
If you are experiencing this issue, first check the wiring and connectors for any signs of damage or corrosion. If everything looks good, then test the speed selector switch for continuity and proper operation. If the switch is functioning properly, then the PCM may need to be replaced.
