2009 TOYOTA CAMRY with 110000. miles

I was driving the car to work and the abs light and red brake light came on in the dashboard. Also, the rpm gauge was going up and down. I stopped and turned off the car. When i turned the car back on, the lights came back. I took it into just a jiffy lube because it was the closest car place near me. They checked the brake lights, brake fluid, car battery, and checked for functional issues. There were none. I took it to a Toyota dealership and they did a diagnostic that came back with code U0029 for communication loss at skid control (ecu) - engine control unit needs to be replaced. They also checked out all operational functions of the car and did not find any other issues. They gave a $2k estimate to repair the ecu. The car is still driveable and the lights still come on intermittently. Sometimes when the abs and brake light come on though, the air conditioning stops working and then the spedometer sticks at 0. If i stop the car and turn it back on, it sometimes clears up. The vehicle is only 6 years old. I had my last Toyota for 14 years and drove it for 239k miles. I am concerned about the safety of a usually reliable vehicle and think it must be a defect. *tt
