  Bmw of north america, llc (bmw) is recalling certain accessory windscreens, sold for installation on various motorcycles. Specifically being recalled is windscreen model number 8531917, sold for use on model year 2012-2018 f700gs motorcycles, windscreen model number 8544629, sold for use on model year 2015-2018 r1200r motorcycles, windscreen model number 8546224, sold for use on model year 2014-2018 s1000r motorcycles, windscreen model number 8551929, sold for use on model year 2015-2018 s1000xr motorcycles, windscreen model number 8554726, sold for use on model year 2013-2018 r1200gs motorcycles, windscreen model number 8554727 sold for use on model year 2014-2018 r1200gs adventure motorcycles, windscreen model number 8556927, sold for use on model year 2015-2018 r1200rs motorcycles, windscreen model number 8559548, sold for use on model year 2017-2018 r1200gs motorcycles and windscreen model number 8561755, sold for use on model year 2012-2018 f800gs motorcycles. These windscreens have extra tinting on them that may reduce the rider's visibility. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 205, "glazing materials."

  Bmw of north america, llc (bmw) is recalling certain accessory turn signals manufactured for 2006-2017 r1200gs, 2007-2008 and 2010-2017 r1200gs adventure, 2017 f700gs and f800gs, 2013-2017 f800gt, 2015-2016 f800r, 2014-2017 f800gs adventure, 2014-2016 s1000r, 2015-2017 r1200r, 2016-2017 r1200rs, and 2010-2017 s1000rr motorcycles. As designed, these accessory turn signals may be insufficiently visible to other drivers, and, as such, fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."

• Recall 130377 [USA]: If the rear reflex reflectors are obscured from view, it can increase the risk of a crash.
  Bmw of north america, llc (bmw) is recalling certain 2013-2017 f800r and f800gt motorcycles, 2014-2018 r1200gs and r1200gs adventure motorcycles, 2016-2017 s1000xr motorcycles and 2015-2017 r1200r and r1200rs, 2008-2012 f650gs, 2008-2018 f800gs, and 2014-2017 f800gs adventure motorcycles. When equipped with the optional aluminum luggage cases, the rear reflex reflectors may be partially blocked. The aluminum case mounts for the r1200gs and r1200gs adventure may also partially block the reflectors. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."
  bmw will notify owners, and dealers will install reflectors on the cases or for the case mounts, an additional bracket with rear reflex reflectors, free of charge. The recall began october 16, 2017. Owners may contact bmw customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

• Recall 125261 [USA]: If the fork tube detaches from the sealing plug, the handling and stability of the motorcycle will be affected, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Bmw of north america, llc (bmw) is recalling certain 2014-2017 bmw r1200gs and bmw r1200gs adventure motorcycles. The motorcycle fixed fork tube may separate from the pressed in seal plug that secures the tube to the upper triple clamp.
  bmw will notify owners, and dealers will add an additional fixed fork tube bush. A fork that is sufficiently damaged will be replaced with a modified new part. These repairs will be made free of charge. The recall began august 31, 2017. Owners may contact bmw customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

• Recall RM/2017/020 [UK]: Front suspension could fail
  The fixed fork tube can suffer preliminary damage due to unusual incidents with momentary high stress without the user noticing the damage. Through longer usage with high stress the pressed in seal plug can loosen. This usually leads to oil leaks a clacking noise as well as increasingly imprecise drivability. If these signals are not perceived or ignored and further high stress incidents occur the plug may become completely loose. Subsequently critical driving conditions cannot be ruled out.
  recall the machines that are likely to be affected and retrofit with an additional fixed fork bush or ? If the preliminary damage is too much ? The fixed front tubes are replaced by appropriately modified new parts.

  Certain tinted windshields sold as accessories through bmw dealerships may fail to comply with the requirements of canada motor vehicle safety standard (cmvss) 205 - glazing materials. The size of the lens on the accessory turn signals may be too small, and therefore would not meet the requirements of the standard. This could reduce vehicle conspicuity to following and approaching road users, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will replace the accessory turn signals with factory indicators that meet the requirements of the standard.

• Recall 2017343 [Canada]: Suspension
  On certain motorcycles, the upper fork seal plug could loosen after severe impact, such as a large pot hole or an accident. Loose fork seal plugs may not be noticeable by the rider. This could result in oil leaks, a rattling noise and unstable steering. If operated in this condition, the plugs could separate, affecting vehicle handling. These issues could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will fit an additional fixed fork bushing, or replace the forks with an improved design, as necessary.

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 bmw r1200 gs. The contact stated that while riding 50 mph and depressing the rear brake pedal, the motorcycle failed to stop. The contact depressed the front brake to bring the motorcycle to a stop. The contact called tytlers cycle (2246 mid valley dr, de pere, wi 54115, (920) 347-9144) and informed the dealer of the failure. The contact was informed that the motorcycle was not under recall and was not under warranty. The contact was informed to schedule an appointment for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer due to the distance. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 14,200.

I experienced three instances of the engine warning lights coming on and the engine losing power and throttle control. The motor continued to run but was restricted to a fast idle of approx. 2000rpm and no throttle. Speed was therefore restricted to 2000 rpm depending on what gear which was about 5-10 mph.. One event happened at slow speed and two were at highway speed of 55 mph all happening in a span of about 30 miles. I was fortunate to be on a rural highway with light traffic as there was no warning and no possibility to look for a safe pull off spot. Each time i was able to restart the motor and return to normal operation after shutting off the ignition for a short time and restarting, motor ran fine with warning lights. I was able to get it to a bmw repair facility and had the engine codes downloaded but they were not able to diagnose a cause. I was told to continue riding it and if it happens again to not start it but have it towed to the dealer. I feel this is a bit dangerous as if it was to happen in the center lane of a busy interstate the results could have been much worse. I have not been able to ride it since returning from the repair facility but the dealer put about 50 miles on it without it reoccurring. I don't feel real confident or safe as nothing was done to prevent it from happening again.

While the motorcycle was driven at a constant speed on the street, suddenly and without warning the engine problem light comes on the dashboard. The motorcycle then proceeds into "emergency operation mode" where the rpms immediately drop to 2000 rpms or lower causing immediate deceleration. On a motorcycle this is an extreme hazard in traffic, in a turn, or passing. This has happened separate times. Each time the motorcycle was brought into the bmw shop for repair of the problem. Each time the shop performed a software upgrade to the motorcycle computer. This repair did not fix the recurring problem.

Rear reflector recall. The dealer will not install the mounting rack for the rear sides luggage or the luggage with my new bike. They are waiting on the fix before they will release these parts. Been waiting for months????
