Recall RM/2010/008 [UK]: Front brake pipes may leak.
The front brake pipes may leak brake fluid which can be noticed in the first instance by seepage of brake fluid from the front hose/s and a lowering of the fluid level in the reservoir. The next stage of failure would be a spongy feeling to the brake control and dripping fluid from the brake hoses. If all the previous indicators have not been noted and rectified the brakes will eventually not apply.

It is possible for the threaded fasteners for the fuel tank to work loose and fall to a position where they can inhibit the steering travel. If this happens the directional control will only be affected during low speed manoeuvring.

Certain motorcycles with dealer installed accessory turn signals may not comply with the requirements of canada motor vehicle safety standard (cvmss) 108 - lighting system and retroreflective devices. The size of the lens on the accessory turn signals may be too small, and therefore would not meet the requirements of the standard. This could reduce vehicle conspicuity to following and approaching road users, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. On certain motorcycles, the threaded holes on the rear wheel flange could crack if the wheel bolts are tightened beyond the specified torque limit during servicing. Over time, this could allow the bolts to back out of their threaded holes, causing the rear wheel to become loose. This could result in a loss of stability of the motorcycle, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. On certain motorcycles, cracks could develop in the fuel pump and/or auxiliary fuel pump flange (if equipped). This would result in fuel leaking when the engine is turned on and the fuel system is pressurized. Leaking fuel, in the presence of an ignition source, could lead to a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. On certain motorcycles, if the hand protector is twisted out of position relative to the handlebar lever, to the extent that lever and protector come into contact, there is a possibility that the handlebar lever remain continuously in the partly operated position. This is turn can cause problems with the brake function and could increase the risk of a crash. Certain motorcycles fail to comply with the requirements of cmvss 108 - lamps, reflective devices and associated equipment. The front turn signals were installed in an improper location. As a result, the rider's intentions to turn may not be conveyed clearly to other road users, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury or death. On certain motorcycles equipped with cross-spoke wheels and the optional tire-pressure monitoring system (tpm), the hole though which the tire inflation valve (and in this case, the integral tpm sensor) is inserted was not manufactured according to specifications. Because of this, the valve may not seat properly in the hole, and a leak may develop. In some cases, it is possible that sudden deflation of the tire could occur. If this happened, motorcycle handling and control would be compromised, increasing the risk of a crash. Correction: dealers will temporarily deactivate the tpm system, remove the corresponding valves and integral tpm sensors, and then replace them with standard valves. When a permanent repair is available, owners will be notified to bring their vehicle in for reactivation of the tpm system and replacement of the integral tpm sensors and valves.Recall 2006069 [Canada]: Engine
Certain motorcycles may suffer clutch assembly failure while being ridden. Parts of the clutch could work loose resulting in clutch fragments/debris being thrown like projectiles through the engine block. As a result, the rider may receive serious injuries or death. Certain motorcycles may have an incorrectly routed front anti-lock brake system (abs) sensor cable. If certain service procedures are performed, for example, a front tire change which involves removal of the front left brake caliper, it is possible for the abs sensor cable to be routed incorrectly when the caliper is reinstalled. If this happens, the sensor cable can come into contact with, and rub/chafe against, the front brake disk. Over time, if the chafing becomes severe, it is possible to lose the abs function. Certain motorcycles may exhibit a temporary loss of abs function as a result of an "overpressure" effect in the brake system caused by applying significant force to the brake lever under rapid, repeated and unusually harsh braking.
