• Hydraulic pump failres investigation # EA04012

  Gm is conducting a recall on all subject vehicles build between may 1999 and october 14, 1999.Significant changes were incorporated into production in early october 1999, and vehicles built after that date have lower warranty failure rates.The complaint and warranty data appear to support the effectiveness of these changes. Gm made additional changes in november 1999, february 2000, may 2001, and february 2004.Odi will continue to monitor this problem and will take further action, if warranted, in the future.For further technical details see the attached engineering analysis report.

Tl*the contact owns a 2001 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that he took the vehicle in for recall nhtsa campaign id number: 04v060000 component: steering:column locking:anti-theft device. The vehicle was serviced for this recall in 2008 and now the failure has recurred. The contact stated that this is a safety issue due to the fact that the remedy for a safety issue failed creating the same safety condition. The failure and current mileages were 27,000. Numerous things have gone wrong with my 2001 monte carlo. 5 or 6 times the dealership has repaired the driver side airbag where it continually pops out. I am really concerned when it might explode w/o a crash or if there is a driver side crash if it will come out to protect me. Steering and front suspension pops. At 55,117 miles we had the oil changed (which has been done every 3000 miles) or less and on the multi point inspection sheet, it listed several things that "might need attention" soon. They are steering linkage and steering components, cv axle boots or drive shaft and u joints. These things should not be worn out on a car with no more miles than this. My rear window defogger doesn't work. Noticed this after one of the airbag repairs. This car has been very well taken care of but still the noises persist and now to be told that these parts might need repair or replacement? We paid a lot of good money for this vehicle (this is a limited edition high sport vehicle) and feel gm should buy it back and reimburse every dime of it due to the poor quality of it or properly repaired or parts replaced at gm expense while providing an equal value vehicle while repair work is done. *tr

Dt*: the contact stated that while driving the vehicle the fuel line constantly spewed gas from the rear of the vehicle. This occurred at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined the cause of the problem was due to rats chewing on the fuel line. The vehicle was taken to a couple other independent mechanics who determined that it was caused by a stress fracture. The dealer replaced the fuel line. I have 2001 8.1 chevy 1 ton,had 3 crankshaft sensors replaced! 4 years never had a problem with 3 one!!!Martys gmc replaced it!!(recalled) wanted old 1 back,they said no? 2 days before my 1 year warranty crank sensor failed! I scanned it myself, next day was saturday,brian kelly service manager said get it in here today, cause sunday it's up!! So if i had it towed $200 later(part$60) i had many problem with martys gmc kingston mass,i"m all done with gm bad quality with dealers like them i will spend my next$40000, on ford!!!!! Wish i had the reps #(gmc). *tr

Parking brake will not work. The trucks were recalled, because they are a standard. Tahoes were not even though they are the same parking brake. My parking brake not working is dangerous when i park on a hill or when i need the extra safety. It has also affected my reverse due to parking on a hill and then putting it in gear. It is now very loud to put it in gear. Truck recall #05042

Abs activating when brakes are applied coming to a stop. *jb

Catalytic converter problems - no power, bogs down when stopped

In january of '05, the fuel gauge on my 2001 chevy tahoe quit working. It shows empty all of the time. This also causes my low fuel light to come on, and the check engine light to be on. *jb

Unable to stop at low speeds. Replaced brakes and still have the problem
