  Curt mfg is recalling certain class 3 receiver hitches, p/n 13347, sold as aftermarket equipment for use on 1997-2007 chrysler town and country vans, 1996-2007 dodge caravans, and 1996-2004 plymouth voyager vans. When the hitch is loaded to the maximum rating, the hitch may fracture or break at the bend location where the main body of the hitch meets the hitch muffler strap.

  Certain curved tempered replacement glass manufactured by hangzhou safety glass ltd and supplied to safelite by auto temp inc., identified as dot-430, and sold for use on certain domestic and foreign vehicles may not break into small pieces as expected of tempered glass and fails to conform to federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 205, "glazing materials."

• Recall 59319 [USA]: Loss of brake fluid can lead to a decrease in brake line pressure and an increase in stopping distance, which can result in a vehicle crash.
  Certain aftermarket brake hydraulic master cylinders sold as replacement brake cylinders for certain ford, daimlerchrysler, and jeep passenger vehicles. These brake cylinders were sold under the brand names of napa, raybestos, aimco, ac delco, carquest, bendix, and wagner. Only products that were manufactured from july 27, 2005 through january 17, 2006 (date codes 0529 through 0602) are subject to this recall. When subject to very cold temperatures, an internal seal in the master cylinder could lose flexibility and may cause brake fluid to leak.

• Recall 41119 [USA]: This condition will manifest itself through illumination of the air bag warning lamp, and could eventually result in a driver's air bag open circuit, if the part is not replaced in a reasonable amount of time.
  On certain minivans, the driver's air bag may become disabled due to a failure of the clockspring, which is located in the hub of the steering wheel.
  dealers will replace the clockspring assembly on all covered vehicles with 70,000 miles or less. For those vehicles with more than 70,000 miles, daimlerchrysler will offer an extended lifetime warranty under which it will replace the clockspring at no charge if it fails. Daimlerchrysler will also reimburse owners who have paid to have the clockspring replaced on their vehicles. The recall began on october 12, 2004. • Recall 5403 [USA]: Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source can result in a fire.
  Vehicle description: mini vans built with 3.3l and 3.8l engines have fuel rails with nitrole rubber o-ring seals that can degrade over time. Fuel leakage from the underhood fuel injection fuel rail could result, increasing the likelihood of a vehicle fire.
  dealers will install a seal on the vehicle fuel rails to prevent external leakage of fuel from the fuel rail crossover tube, should the existing o-rings continue to degrade. Owner notification began on january 25, 2002. Due to the large quantity of vehicles involved in this campaign, the owner notification will be phased over the next several months. However, if a vehicle is leaking fuel from the o-rings, the vehicle should be taken into a dealer to have this repaired as soon as possible.   On certain vehicles, increased clockspring terminal resistance or a back-winding condition of the clockspring may cause the airbag warning lamp to illuminate. Until the problem is remedied, the drivers airbag will not deploy as required in a frontal crash, increasing the risk of injury to the seat occupant. Correction: dealers will replace the clockspring assembly on vehicles with less than 115 000 kms. Owners of vehicles with over 115 000 kms will be offered extended lifetime warranty on the clockspring.

• Recall 2000215 [Canada]: Fuel supply
  On certain vehicles equipped with the 3.3l or 3.8l engine the nitrile "o-ring" seals used in the fuel rail may degrade over time and extended exposure to elevated temperatures. This could result in fuel leakage, and, in the presence of an ignition source, an underhood fire could occur. Correction: external seals will be installed at both of the fuel rail crossover tube joints. If the crossover tube joints are leaking or red rust exists in the area, the fuel rail assembly must be replaced.

  The driver air bag clockspring can develop an open-circuit condition resulting in nonfunctional driver-side frontal air bag, horn, cruise control (if equipped), and/or steering wheel radio control (if equipped).In its october 5, 2004 letter to nhtsa, daimlerchrysler stated that it will conduct a safety recall and replace the clockspring assembly on all my 1998.5-2000 daimlerchrysler minivans, built between march 1998 and august 2000, with 70,000 miles or less.It will also provide a lifetime warranty for this component on my 1998.5-2000 minivans, regardless of mileage.The details of the corrective action are described in daimlerchryslers letter (see recall no. 04v-480).The agency believes that further expenditure of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists with respect to those vehicles covered only by the lifetime warranty.The agency will take further action if warranted by the circumstances.See page 2 for additional information.

• Overheating of seat heaters investigation # PE04017

  Odi opened this investigation based on 24 complaints alleging that the electrically heated driver or passenger seat sparks/overheats.Daimlerchrysler believes the failure is due to one of two factors:the stitching operation on the seat cover may cause the sewing needle to sever some strands of the wire heating grid in the seat, or a poor solder joint/wire connector fails due to "improper processing or long term overstressing."the ignition switch and the seat heater switch must both be turned on to power the seat heater.Complainants report that when overheating occurs, switching the heater off also stops the overheating.The failure cannot occur in an unattended vehicle with the ignition switch off.Odi finds that the 33 fire allegations are reporting very localized overheating(photos of damaged seats show holes the size of a pencil or less).There are no reports of sustained combustion and no reports of other fire damage to the vehicle.The injury allegations are reporting minor injury.No consumers required medical treatment (physician care).There are no allegations of loss of vehicle control due to failure of a heated seat.A safety-related defect has not been identified at this time and further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.Accordingly this investigation is closed.The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists.The agency reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.

The heated seat on the driver side was heating up so hot that it would burn your bottom. Now it has seizes to work even with repairs.

Air bag light constantly on, no horn no cruise control no radio control. Went to dealer for recall on airbag steering wheel clock spring and was told i would have to pay for diagnostic and also pay for part " in case it was not covered. This is not how a safety recall should be performed to my understanding

There is an known issue with town&country van b/t certain years. I have a 1999. When water splashes from the road or runs off the vehicle, the water lands on the serpentine belt, and causes the belt to slide off. When the belt slides off, the power steering fails to such a degree that it makes the vehicle difficult to maintain control. There is a patch that chrysler issued, but not did not deem it a recall. I believe this issue is bad enough that it could cause significant problems. I've had this happen several times. Not driving through puddles, but just having a wet road can cause (and has caused) an issue. The fix is 400+$, which is ridiculous considering that this is a known issue that chrysler created a fix for, but won't recall. I've replaced every belt, tensioner, pulley etc, and the mechanic frankly said its a known problem with certain years of town & county.

My problem is in the ignition switch, which is affecting the air conditioner and blinkers , at the same time , i tested the van while it was running i moved the ignition key and the air conditioning and blinkers would work. Started well van was stationary in my driveway 10/1/2016.

Fuel injector rail failure. Would like to know if there was a recall on this and if the repair is covered under a recall. Gas is leaking from the fuel injector rail, and van was chugging. Wanted to trade van in and they told me do to safety factors could not take in on a trade. Said that the rust on van under carriage was so bad that motor could fall out and it was not worth taking in on a trade do to this problem

When i went to visit my wife at the nursing home where she is, after i got in my van to go home i only made it a couple miles the gauges went goofy then the motor quit, i had no clue a relative owns a wrecker service so he came and towed me home. The next day i tried to start it but no luck, when i first got the van it did something just like this so i figured it could be the brain so i got one and put it in, nothing so while turning the engine over i didn't hear the fuel pump so i bought a replacement. After going through all of that it still would turn but not start a mechanic came out to look at it and see if he could figure out why it didn't start after looking at it he said that it was probably the fuel shut off relay, that's where it is,i need to find where the cutoff relay is located so i can reset it.

Tl* the contact owns a 1999 chrysler town and country. On several occasions, the instrument panel failed to remain illuminated. The vehicle was not dagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 148,000.

I was driving on street and brakes went out. Did not hit anyone but had to drive to shop do to no brakes very slow. Brakes line rusted out and had to replace brake lines used emergency brake to stop and go. All parts of van is rusting frame that holds motor in rusted and can not trade in do to dealer said it is a safety factor and it can not be repaired do to rust.
