  Curt mfg is recalling certain class 3 receiver hitches, p/n 13347, sold as aftermarket equipment for use on 1997-2007 chrysler town and country vans, 1996-2007 dodge caravans, and 1996-2004 plymouth voyager vans. When the hitch is loaded to the maximum rating, the hitch may fracture or break at the bend location where the main body of the hitch meets the hitch muffler strap.

  Eagle eyes is recalling 11,534 headlamp assemblies, p/nos. Cs090-b001l and cs090-b001r, sold for use as replacement equipment for the above listed passenger vehicles. These headlamps fail to conform to the lower beam photometry requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."

• Recall 59383 [USA]: Loss of brake fluid can lead to a decrease in brake line pressure and an increase in stopping distance, which can result in a vehicle crash.
  Certain aftermarket brake hydraulic master cylinders sold as replacement brake cylinders for certain ford, daimlerchrysler, and jeep passenger vehicles. These brake cylinders were sold under the brand names of napa, raybestos, aimco, ac delco, carquest, bendix, and wagner. Only products that were manufactured from july 27, 2005 through january 17, 2006 (date codes 0529 through 0602) are subject to this recall. When subject to very cold temperatures, an internal seal in the master cylinder could lose flexibility and may cause brake fluid to leak.

  On certain mini vans, condensation from the instrument panel air conditioning ducts may drop through vent holes in the top of the radio and result in a short circuit that subsequently sends direct current to the rear speakers.

Something wrong with my gas tank, it always stops me even if it's halfway. The driver seat belt doesn't stay well. The holes where the engine always comes off and there's a lot of smoke coming out. The headliner is coming off and there's like a sand falling to my kids. The break is not that strong

I purchased a 2002 dodge caravan van on june 9, 2014. On july 11, while in houston, texas, my vehicle sustained a flat tire. I took it to firestone to repair the tire. The tire was irreparable. My spare tire had a hump in it and consequently i wasn't able to put it on the vehicle. Another tire was manufactured in 2005. The other tire was manufactured in 2012 but has a gash in the tire. The three remaining tires have no tread on them. In the event that one of my tires goes out i have no spare. I purchased a new tire for 79.00.I was told tires are not covered. I have been delayed and stranded due to ignition switch problems. Upon bringing the vehicle to the dealership they refused to inspect it. *tr

On 6/5/14 while driving down the hwy at 65mph a deer had bolted out in front of my 02 caravan. I had reaction time with hitting my brakes until my brake light illuminated & my van continues sliding on dry pavement, i attempted hitting my horn but noticed the section of the steering wheel that the horn iss located was rock hard & could not be pushed in even the slightest. I ended up hitting the deer dead center of the front of my van, crumpled my hood, cracking my radiator, headlight assemlies, grill & cooling fans. My airbags never deployed. Since this incident my brake light illuminated just about every time i press on the brakes & come to a rest lasting 30 second or longer & will go off moments after releasing the pedal. Approx mileage 165, 000 road conditions were dry, daylight & 100% visibility. *js

I cannot believe a recall on the intermittent air light coming on has not occurred on the 2002 caravan. Mine goes on and off usually when making a turn-a clear indication that the wire in the clockspring has failed. The problem is when the light is on the airbags will not function making the car unsafe should an accident occur. Dodge wants almost $300 to replace a part that has been failing on previous model years and were recalled. This will be my 2nd time fixing the issue. *tr

I have a 2002 dodge caravan and the airbag light just came on on my dash. My mechanic scanned the code and got "passenger squib #1 circuit open". He tells me that i need a whole new wiring harness or a whole new airbag but that the problem is a connector that used to be available from chrysler but is not any more. This seems crazy. I want the problem fixed as i don't have a passenger side airbag right now but it seems that chrysler should supply the connector or fix the problem on a recall. *tr

Airbag clock spring on 02 dodge caravan had to be replaced for $207. Chrysler denied reimbursement saying the car is out of warranty. I maintain the airbag system is a required safety item that should last the life of the car. I should not have to pay more than $200 extra to protect against an air bag deploying accidentally while i am driving or failing to deploy in case of a collision. *tr

Rear brake seizing up and unable to move until several attempts forward and backward take place, then a loud noise and it is freed up. *tr

My 2002 dodge caravan is missing the lower anchors in the third row seat for the latch system. I purchased the vehicle brand new and have not previously noticed the lack of the anchors since i just now am installing a car seat. *tr

I have a 2002 dodge caravan. The failure began with the lights flashing (lt/rt like a police cruiser or alarm system) in daytime running light mode. Once the headlight lights were turned on the rt worked but the lt low beam did not. Select high beam; the lt headlight worked the right did not. I've read on the internet several complaints about this headlight system completely failing during hours of darkness at the most inappropriate times (i.E. Traveling on highway @ high speeds). Currently, the problem is being worked and parts have been swapped and the problem still exists. *tr

Backed out of garage on cold morning and couldn't turn steering wheel (especially to the left) until several minutes of idling and forcing to extreme right and then to left, several times, problem is getting worse and even after driving several miles, it has hung up on left turns requiring a slight right turn and janking to left in cold temperatures. *tr

I own a 2002 dodge caravan se, with roughly 115,000 miles on it. I was driving down the highway at the posted speed limit of 55 mph. The weather was fine, not particularly windy or anything of that nature. All of a sudden, i heard a loud popping sound. I looked in my rear view mirror just in time to see the passenger-side back window imploding into the back of the van. It was the very back side window, the one that is able to be vented manually. It was not vented at the time of the implosion. I had not seen any projectiles sailing through the air that could've hit the window. I had not seen any cracks or imperfections in the window. The biggest problem i am facing is that this is the 2nd time glass has mysteriously broken in the vehicle. About a year and a half ago, the back windshield shattered when i got into the van and shut the door. In that instance, i was parked, and the vehicle hadn't even been turned on yet. In that case, at least there wasn't flying glass inside of the car. I am officially frustrated (and terrified) with this problem, and am very happy there wasn't anyone sitting in the back of the van when this happened. This happened 4 days ago, and i have not yet gotten it fixed. I am currently exploring different avenues to express my distrust and anger at this situation. I also do not believe this had to do with a driving error committed on my part. I would like this to be resolved, ideally with dodge replacing my window free of charge. Thank you for your time. *tr

Dealer says cannot be fixed is structural problem with fan belt and what it sits in - tensioner? - they are misaligned and cannot be fixed. Car was built wrong. The air bag warning light comes on sporadically in the beginning, then it just stayed on as long as the vehicle is running. I took the car to the dealer and they said the clock spring needed to be replaced. It wasn't under the warranty and was informed no recall. I had to pay $301.00 to fix.

Originally the dealership said they could not duplicate my complaint. After the warranty expired i was told there was an internal leak in the steering column and the rack, pump and lines needed to be replaced. This was done and the noise is still there. *tr

2002 dodge caravan headlight electrical issue. My headlights do not turn on when i turn the switch. Sometimes they come on quickly sometimes they take more than 30 minutes. For them to turn off i have the same problem. Also my windshield wipers don't work. They turn on the same way the headlights do. If it begins to rain while i am driving i have to pull over. Driving on a boulevard thoroughfare in a snowstorm, i leaned back slightly on the seatback to shift my weight so i could see better. I heard a loud sound similar to a bullet being fired, and the seatback immediately fell backward to a horizontal position. I was now on my back, unable to see the road or other references through any window. I pulled myself up using the steering wheel and regained control of the car. Luckily there were no accidents or injury. I phoned the vehicle manufacturer customer service center and reported what took place. They assigned a case number and told me to have my dealer make a diagnosis and call them. They phoned me back the same day saying the manufacturer will pay to have the seat repaired if i agreed to a $200. Co-pay. I agreed and the dealer repaired the seat recliner, stating on their paperwork "there was a nut on the seat frame that broke/snapped off of rod." i asked for the broken parts, but the dealer said the manufacturer requested they be sent to them. *tr

I have had 2 recalls taken care of however the steering in my 2002 caravan still continues to lock up when making turns. This has caused me to almost have more than one collision because this can happen when pulling out in traffic and turning. I am a busy mother with four children who depend on me for their safety. Today my son who is in college borrowed my van to go to school and almost had an accident. This is why i am doing research on this problem. If you force the steering it will finally break away and continue to steer however you do not know when to expect it to be defective. I thought when i took care of the recalls that this would fix the problem however, we still have to battle with this problem on a regular basis. Most of the time it happens when the weather turns colder. I have not been informed of any new recalls on my vehicle. We keep a regular check on the fluids so i know this is not the problem. Transmission failed at 59,000 miles- will cost me at least $2650 when i pick it up thursday, 10/25/07. What choice do i have, i have to get to work. I bought it new and it will be paid off next october, 2008. I've had that van to the two dodge dealers and at least two different individual mechanics. I've paid for emissions repairs, 3 sets of tires. I had the "caravan" letters replaced and they are now etched out again, i've been driving it and it quit before, but today's incident, was just a near miss i wasn't crushed between a school bus and a tractor trailer. After starting the vehicle and putting it into drive, the vehicle suddenly accelerated to a speed of 45-50 mph without my having pressed the accelerator. The rmp gauge was fluctuating wildly and the engine emitted a loud "revving" sound. I immediately applied the brakes which reduced the speed of the vehicle to only approx. 25-35 mph. In order to bring the car to a complete stop, i had to "stand" on the brakes (pressing extremely hard). At this point the engine stalled. When my mechanic test drove the vehicle to determine the problem, he, too, indicated what difficulty he had "controlling" the car and was almost in an accident. The car was ultimately taken to d'ambrosio dodge in downingtown, pa for repair. The mechanic told me he was familiar with this type of problem, indicating to me i am not the first person to have this happen. This is an extremely dangerous problem that occurred with my vehicle. Dodge should issue a recall for the 2002 caravan sport to ensure that no one else is put in danger. *tr

Window on passenger side fails to work. Pressing the window opened button lowered the window, but then it wouldn't raise it. After some time, the button began working again and we were able to raise it. A few days later we lowered it again and it again got stuck. After getting it raised, we don't lower the window anymore out of concern that it'll get stuck in the lowered position. *tr

Air bag warning light comes on as soon as weather temperature exceeds 20 centigrade. . Did this in 2006 and has done again in may 2007. Local dealer said it was a possible sensor problem in front bumper area. Had done nothing as problem disappeared when temperature fell to below 20 centigrade. *ak

The chrysler dealer in my area states that this part is not covered by the extended emission's control warranty that expires at 80,000 miles. I had this problem since i purchased the vehicle i have not have an accidents there has not been any property damage or police reports taken. The vehicle has the original headlights. My transmission failed thanksgiving day 2006. Van was parked on hill. I placed it in drive and it rolled backwards down the hill. Was able to cautiously drive it to transmission shop. They had to rebuild the unit. The check engine light never came on. After picking it up i had to take it back to the shop because it wouldn't go out of first gear. Shop stated it was due to a sensor problem. A couple of month's later it did the same first gear. Shop replaced the sensor again. Luckily the rebuilt transmission was still under warranty. Dodge only warrants the powertrain to the original purchaser. I purchased it used in 2003. *jb

Rear hatch power lock disengages leaving rear hatch ajar at unexpected times. Also tries to disengage while driving 5 mph or less. It is almost like someone is holding a remote entry device( which i don't have) and i hear a click, click as it disengages the lock. Yesterday it happened at least ten times, every time i put the van in park the rear hatch un-latches and i have to shut the vehicle off and use my key to open the hatch the rest of the way for it to close. Also for the first time it has interfered with my power door locks working. The hatch will also disengage if i am parked and just idling. I and my wife while driving up hwy 44 at 1730 hrs to pick up our son from work at six flags(in the rain), she was driving our 2002 dodge caravan ec. We came down past antire hill rd there were a warring buzzer and a engine warring light came on. About a half mile later the van seem to have a shutter in the steering, she stated and i saw this. As we crossed the meramac river there was a loud metal popping and grinding from the engine compartment. Almost through me out of the seat i thought she had applied the brakes. She stated she had not and that she was having a hard time controlling it. She had let off the gas and slowed but not before hearing the driver front tire lock up and skid on the wet pavement pulling us toward the traffic coming from behind. Then the vehicle gave another loud grinding noise and pop and she got to the shoulder. I had her pop the hood and found the transmission dipstick pushed out of the tube with fluid sprayed every were. I said i would try and get us to walmart so we could call far help and get a ride for my son. I then stared the van placed it in (l) and continued to the hwy 109 exit. Then to the outer road then finally making it to walmart's parking lot. While trying to pulling to a parking spot the trans gave one last loud snapping sound, that was all i had to roll back down the hill and cost to park van. Engine would run nothing from trans in any gear. We walked to the automotive section and called my father to come and get us. We arrived back home at 2030 hrs. The van is not fixed this just happened i am going to call chrysler monday to se if they will cover it. If not i will be fixing it myself and you may have the parts if needed. The odometer had just turn to 72,000 miles on this day of happening. *nm

The first time it failed was two months ago, the mechanic said it was a sensor problem and that it was fixed. It went out again last night while driving. Now they want to charge me another deductible to "fix" it again. My air conditioner has not worked properly in over a year, water leaks down on the passenger side floor, and cold air only comes out of the passenger side vents, the driver side vents blow out hot air. My driver side window has not worked in over a year, the interior lights go on and off at random, and the arm rest on the passenger side front seat just snapped off. I called a chrysler dealer and they told me it sounds like the clockspring. The mileage on this vehicle is only 33,000 miles. Since it is out of warranty i would have to pay for it because there have not been any recalls for this as of yet. This is the second dodge caravan that i have owned. The first one was recalled for the clockspring also. I know that chrysler has a history of bad clocksprings. Are they waiting for enough accidents to happen? Had rack in pinion and front end work done december 28, 2005 and took back the car on january 2006 twice for front end not being aligned. Took the car back to deal to have them look at ignition and alarm because car won't start and alarm light was flashing. Steve- fixed the alarm but also notice that the steering wheel won't lock and the ignition was having issues starting car. He suggested scheduling an appointment to get them fixed, got the car back today and the steering wheel still isn't locking. Back in dec-jan service dates, densie-service advisor stated that they replaced my steering column with a rebuilt because the had issues fixing my original one. Now the ignition issues has happened and the dealer and service manager stated that the rebuilt steering column was never replaced or in the computer history. Denise is no longer working at the dealership and i had to pay for the replacement parts for the ignition problems. *jb

I've never had an accident with it, but nearly had a couple because of this problem. It has gotten worse since its inception over 4 years back. Dt*: the contact stated while driving 65 mph, all of the dashboard lights illuminated then the vehicle would not move. The vehicle was towed to the dealership on a flatbed truck because the tires were locked up. The dealerships diagnostic test determined the transmission went out and needs to be replaced. Also, the brakes will not release while the brake pedal is depressed, this occurs every time, and causes the rims to get hot, causing three blowouts on the front end. The dealership is unable to determine a problem, but the shoes have been replaced 6 times and the rotors were replaced twice.

I heard a "banging" noise while driving on the highway at 50 mph. So i called my dealer to schedule an appt for multiple of reasons and they found the following issues again with my car; my front brakes (shoe pades, rotor's turned) needed to be replaced again since i've had this car and the car only has 45,000 miles on it and previous to that, the dealer replaced the shoe pades again at 19,000 miles?? Also at 19,000 miles, the dealer had to replace the "bushings and links" for the front end and again at 45,000 miles two days ago. I am strating to wonder if there is a direct link between the two parts going prematurely. I also had to replace all four tires because due to the wear/tear on them becasue they were unsafe. The dealer won't warrenty them, so i had to buy new set of tires at 19,000 miles. I think the tires worn out prematurely due to all the front end problems that i am having. There also have been a number of "power steering" issues with my vehichle since i purchased it. I believe there has been two recalls on the power steering unit and had the dealer take care of them.(had the car towed because the power steering won't work and it leaked all over my new driveway) i 've had the car back to the dealer 3 times for "power steering" leaking. The latest new was the a "boot" of some sort in the "rack-and-pinion steering" was the cause of the power steering leak and they also found an oil leak on the headcask cover too. After everything was finally finihsed (after 2 days) i picked up the car and drove it home but i am going to bring it back to the dealship because now the car is swaying left/right and the dealership said they did a front end alignement because of all the work they had to due to the vehicle. *jb

Child had thumb slammed in van door and family was unable to open the door for three minutes. Child fractured bone. A younger child could have lost a limb. Parent had to go inside the car and pull the jammed lock to free child. If parent was holding a child and they got a limb stuck the parent could not let go of the child to go inside and free the door. *nm

Steering failure. When turning the steering to the far left or right, the steering wheel sticks in that position and releases only after several attempts. In normal straight ahead operation there is a very noticeable noise and coming from the steering apparatus. I believe this to be a dangerous situation. Realize engine off when no response occurs with pressing throttle. Must coast to side of road to stop. Vehicle will often not start for at least 20 minutes - engine will not turn over, no check engine light will appear. Vehicle has stalled at 62 mph and even at lower speeds on all types of ground elevation. Very intermittent stalling. Engine will also not turn over when sitting over night in driveway or just when eating in a restaurant. Extremely unsafe to drive as will stall in intersections, or on highway typically without warning. A few times car jerked at high rate of speed then loss of power occurred. *nm

The rack and pinion steering has failed, only to one side so far--to the left, making it very difficult to steer and/or turn to the left. At 51,000 miles, i believe this is very premature for a failure and can become a very serious safety hazard. Chrysler will not cover it under warranty. Therefore, if other owners have filed complaints and/or requested repairs to this issue, i believe a recall is justified to prevent accidents and prevent very serious injury. *nm

The tail light lenses or covers have been glued on but the glue has failed on both tail lights and both covers have fallen off onto the freeway exposing the bright white light bulbs and dropping a large plastic lens onto the freeway. When the first one fell off my wife stopped on the freeway and picked up the lens. What a great way to get killed. The second time i was driving at night on the freeway and heard a noise but did not stop until i left the freeway. The dealer sells the entire light assembly for $ 99.00 but the lens cover is not sold separately. Looks like a good fundraiser for the dealer but a dangerous situation for everyone on the road. The problem is the new lens has the same design and was built the same as the original one. I talked to the sales clerk at the dodge parts counter and he said "we have sold a lot of these lately." so this is not an isolated incidence. It is only a matter of time before people are injured because of this problem. If the daimler chrysler motors corporation acts responsible and solves this problem quickly lives can be saved and injuries avoided. This is the first time i have noticed a lens cover for a vehicle light cover that was not attached with screws. The good thing is there is a simple solution to solve this problem. Drill two holes in the plastic lens and install two screws as i have done to the lens cover retrieved from the freeway by my wife. Car was bought used form kia deal 7/1/2003 a little under 2 yrs left on warranty have done regular maint. Per mfg spec. Went on vacation to main 5/12/05 came back 5/21/05 and found transmission fuild on garage floor. Went to i went to mech (pep boys) because thougth when i had transmission flush per dodge spec that someting wasnt right. Mech said that it wasn't anything thay had done and that thay coundnt fix it i had to go to dodge it was a spec. Valve that was leaking and thay need tools that thay didn't have. I told them that it was just 9 days out of warranty..I have had four recalls on this van and thay have fix all problems .I just think dodge should pay for the repair. It going to cost me 500.00 to fix it. I would understand if the van had more miles on it but it only has 35863 miles in three years. When i bought it had 17,000 mile i work 7 miles from work. Consumer has filed a complaint with chrysler, and they sent an investigator to see the damage and take pictures. The van was totaled. There was 1 injury, the injury would not had been as bad if the airbags would have deployed. The passenger suffered internal injuries, bleeding, and bruising due to seat belt failure. *ak

The consumer received a recall notice about moisture from air conditioner that may enter into radio and cause a short circuit or possible radio/left speaker fire. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who fixed the vent but not the radio. *nm

Contact stated: while driving slowly during a u turn to park going about 3-4 mph the rear driver's side hub fell completely off. Normal weather conditions. Took vehicle to toyota of dallas dealership. The hub was still attached to the tire. Upon observation 1/2 of the bolts still screwed into the hole, the other two were laying out in the street, two bolts were missing. Massive rust built up implied there was never a bolt inside. An investigator confirmed that it looks like two bolts were never in the spindle , and caused excess stress on the two bolts, and caused them to snap in half, causing the hub to come off.*ak

Air bag light flashed while driving. Dealer fixed problem by replacing clock spring. This problem occurred twice around 5,000 and 40,600 miles. This is a recall for older model year, but not 2002 model year. *ak

Driver's side airbag light stayed on. Dealer made a diagnostic check and concluded that the airbag system in the car would be inoperable unless the airbag was replaced at a cost of $900.00. When i protested i was informed that the manufacturer would pay for the airbag, but not the labor, $400.00. Since this was a clear violation of vehicle safety on a 3 year old car, it would appear to be recognized by the manufacturer as such, then i appeal for a recall on the grounds of manufacturer's negligence. *ak

2002 dodge caravan sport. 1) vehicle equipped with tilt-wheel. Driver attempted to ajust wheel. (2) tilt-wheel would not lock into place, leaving steering wheel "flopping" up and down. Extremely difficult and unsafe to drive vehicle in this condition. Almost caused loss of control/accident.*ak

Safety recall-radio vent slots, d48 on dodge caravan is an unsatisfactory fix. Placing tape over the radio vents will cause the radio to overheat in florida! A fire is possible. *nm

Vehicle air bag light would stay illuminated while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer informed the consumer that the passenger's seat belt tension needed replaced. *nm *sc

While vehicle was parked driver noticed a liquid leaking from underneath the vehicle. Driver was unable to turn the steering wheel. A loud clanking noise was coming from the front. Driver took vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the steering hoses and transmission shaft needed to be replaced. Then, driver informed the mechanic that the problems still occurred, and had not been resolved. *ak

On january 27, 2005, while driving on a local interstate, the axle broke, rack and pinion, and the cv joints and boots on my 2002 dodge caravan which was purchased new, which almost caused a horrible accident and great bodily harm to my wife who was driving, our children ages 6yrs and 4yrs, and other traveling vehicles in her path. In addition to this the vehicle has a gas exhaust problem. Diamlerchrysler supposedly repaired the exhaust problem by replacing the catalystic converter in aug 2004 but the engine light stays on constantly, the axle was repaired on 2/2005 but not the other problems mentioned above.

Consumer's air bag light came on and stayed on. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealer and the clock spring was replaced. This vehicle was not included in the clock spring nhtsa recall 04v480000 due to vin. *ak

Starting at approx. 40,000-45,000 miles there was a thumping noise under driver side feet. Thought maybe was tires,they were replaced at 54,000 miles. Noise was still there. Took to dealership. Had for about a week, first diagnosis was ball joints, tie rods, a-arms. Covered under extended warranty had to pay $100 deductible. No more than a week later still there, called and made an appointment. Diagnosis second time was struts, stabilizer bar, bushings. Again, covered under manufacturer warranty but still had to pay another $100 deductible. Even though still part of same problem. Now a week later, problem again persists but worse. You can just sit in the van and shake it and hear the actual noise instead of having to drive it. Again, i now have to take it back to the dealer for another appointment. *jb

The headlights flickers; once they went out completely for about five seconds. This has occurred about 20 times since november 2004. There is no time pattern as to when the headlights would go off. The dealer knows that the headlight switch is the problem. The manufacturer told the dealer that they have a back order of over 800 switches and that no one is making the switches.

We have had the power steering pump changed four times. On 7/22/03, we brought the van into westway dodge, because we had a loud noise when turning. They conducted technical service bulletin 19-006-02 and installed a longer power steering hose. On 7/31/2003, we again brought it in to westway, because the power steering pump was making a moaning sound. They diagnosed it as low pressure output and replaced the power steering pump. On sept. 15, 2003 we brought it in for the power steering coolant line recall. After that time, the dealer advised us that it was still making noise but it would go away after the lines got broke in. We have experienced continued noise and the steering wheel, at times, is difficult to turn. November 26, 2004, we took our van in for the upper power steering pump recall. We brought it to mack massey dodge at 950 crockett, el paso, tx 79922. Our service representative was ralph garcia (telephone 915-231-4193). He arranged to have the recall done. I also asked him to investigate a loud noise when the steering wheel was turned. On or about november 27, 2004, the upper power steering pump was changed. They also replaced the pump and test drove the vehicle. I was told by mr. Garcia, that the pump leaked and completely fell apart?. Mr. Garcia stated they would change the pump again, check it for leaks. We picked up the vehicle on november 29, 2004. On december 3, 2004, while driving to phoenix, i experienced a check engine light & warning tone. I drove the vehicle to las cruces, nm and took it to the sandoval dodge service center, which was closer to me at the time. Mr. Rudy sandoval ( phone: 800-499-1403) had the vehicle checked. I spoke with mr. Sandoval today, (12/6/2004) and he stated their repair department had done the upper power steering hose recall and also found the power steering pump to be leaking and it would need to be replaced. It is still being repaired as of 12/7/2004. *jb

The consumer heard a shuttering noise coming from the front right tire when turning the steering wheel to the right. The rack and pinion was replaced but the problem still existed. *tc the consumer was told the power steering was the problem and had already been replaced. Brought my 2002 dodge caravan in for a recall replacement on the upper power steering cooler hose , i left the dealership thinking my van was okay boy was i wrong the next day my van started pouring powersteering coolant on the ground and it made a horrible whirling sound , i contacted dealership an was told to bring in and i did but when i got at the dealership they acted like i never called and said they would not look at my vehichle , well i demanded a look before i left and was told there are no problems and if there were they would not cover them due to there stupidness that they dont have time and if problem still persists to bring back in a couple of days , keep in mind my power steering fluid is leaking horribly everywhere and that is what i was there to fix in the beginning because it would catch fire , so i took to another dealership and they told me that my rack n pinnion power steering was burnt up due to faulty installers of the hose . I am going to a different dealership to get the problem fixed correctly and for free . Daimer chrysler has been notified of the discrepancy and told me to take to another dodge dealership . So dont deal with elder randall autoplex in marshall, tx.. They do not give u information on the repair being done and u have to complain to get it, supposedly they are mailing it to me - who knows . I will not buy another dodge ever again they are unreliable and dishonest people.*ak

Consumer complained about a serpentine belt problem. He had the serpentine belt repaired at least 3-4 times, but it kept coming off. When this happened everything shut off. This was dangerous because consumer could be in heavy traffic and if the belt shut off, consumer could get hurt.*ak

Front end noise, flutter to a front end clunck sound more on right side. Sound was light at 23000 miles then now at 52000 very load sounds like something going to fall out or off van. Found the front stab. Bar bushing passenger side egged out causing bad clunck. These items seemed to fail very early seeing this van is on interstate most of the time.*ak

While driving, the srs air bag light illuminated on the dashboard and remained on. The consumer drove it to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic informed the consumer that the clock spring needed replacement. Please fill additional information. *jb

Consumer received recall 04v386000 concerning power steering fluid leakage: took vehicle to the dealer on three separate occasions, and consumer continued to smell some type of fluid burning, and steering wheel felt loose while driving. The reverse light had become intermittent while the vehicle was in motion. Also the fan, windows and the radio failed to operate when the a/c or defrost was turned on. This all linked to the battery dripping acid onto the wiring harness. Also, the rear driver side tire had a slow leak. The vehicle had been repaired on 10/21/05 *sc

After the vehicle caught on fire the consumer received a recall notice. The notice was on all 2002 caravans for a potential defect which could result in a fire. The consumer would like to be reimbursed for the cost of having to get another vehicle. *nm

While sitting at an intersection and then applying the accelerator pedal vehicle hesitated then stalled. Consumer restarted vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. Mechanic claimed that the problem could not be duplicated. *ak

While applying the brake pedal vehicle stalled. Driver was able to restart the vehicle. While driving in inclement weather windshield wipers failed . This caused poor visibility to the driver. Vehicle was taken to dealer for inspection, but mechanic could not duplicate the problem. *ak

When driving the vehicle through varying speeds the vehicle shifts improperly. Sometimes it is an extremely hard shift between second and third gear at speeds of 20-30 mph where the vehicle will pull back and then lurch forward and a loud thud occurs. It shifts improperly with the same actions when it shifts down into first gear when attempting to stop. It also shifts erratically between 3rd and 4th gear on the expressway at speeds of 55-65 mph. However these issues are not consistent and the problem doesn't occur every time the vehicle shifts in to these gears. The first time the vehicle was taken into service they identified the problem as a bad transmission program. However, after they claimed to have "fixed" the issues, my vehicle' s transmission problems worsened instead of improving. Since then the vehicle has been in for service two more times where the dodge mechanic said they cannot duplicate the problem i am having, and refused to fix my vehicle. They will only drive it around the block and if it doesn't act up they send it home and say there is no problem. *ak

Vehicle was parked in a parking lot with the engine running, consumer stepped out of the vehicle to move an object out of the parking lot, and vehicle popped out of park into reverse. This caused the vehicle to roll backwards and hit another vehicle before stopping. *ak

1. After leaving my 2002 dodge grand caravan (approx. 48000 miles) in long term airport parking for 12 days i drove two and a half hours home. Nothing of any consequence happened on the way home. * 2. At home i noticed that the brake lights were stuck on the on position. I do not know during what part of the trip the brake light got stuck on and fortunately i did not get rear-ended. However, a brake light that is always on increases the risk of rear end collision. 3. The next day i brought the car to my local dodge dealer. They said something that some brake light switch had been kicked off or on and said that i must have done something to make the switch keep the brake light on like kick it or something like that. In fact, nobody kicked the brakes or anything like that. The car just malfunctioned. The local dealer and chrysler are unwilling to consider the safety consequences of the mal function. I was charged for whatever it was the dealer did to fix the problem. Note i left the oem box on this form on the default setting of "no." i did this because i do not know what oem means. The van has an ongoing electrical failure which results in the headlights, dashboard lights, and other components malfunctioning. They either don't function at all or don't function properly. The dealer/mechanic replaced the pcm in attempt to correct the failure. It didn't work. There is a current investigation on this issue, pe05004.*ak....Replaced power steering reservoir and hose. Could not duplicate a fuel gauge problem. *ak

During routine inspection dealership informed the consumer that steering wheel froze which was causing heavy vibration. The problem was not resolved. *ak

Consumers wife has difficulty getting in and out of the vehicle since she has no handle to hold. If the manufacturer placed handles on the passenger side of the door it may be easier to enter and exit the vehicle. The consumers' requires assistance when entering and exiting the vehicle. *nm

While driving approximately 25-30 mph noticed smoke coming from under the hood on passenger side. Had slowed down ,and smoke came from vents. Pulled over, and everyone got out of vehicle. Consumer popped open the hood and flames shot out. Fire department arrived and extinguished the fire. Preliminary analysis by fire department indicated that fire was caused by engine fuel valve. *ak

Dt the vehicle has been fixed, but it could be dangerous. The consumer could hear a noise when shifting gears. The consumer brought the vehicle to the dealer and they foundthat the axle nuts were loose. Three months later the consumer had to bring the vehicle bafck to the dealer for the same thing. They said that the nuts had just come loose and were not sure what caused it. This happened on may 12, 2004. The consumer was charged both times to have it fixed. *ak *mr

The a/c unit leaked down the firewall on the inside passenger side of my caravan and ruined the carpet. It was repaired in feb. 2003 under warranty. In march 2004 we noticed mold on the floor . The same thing had happened again. Chrystler knows that they have a problem with this because they put out a tbs 24-008-02 to fix it. Problem is it doesn't always work (according to service reps.) we are sueing them to fix it again. *ak

While driving at 55 mph a loud clanking noise was heard coming from the passenger side wheel. The steering wheel shook violently. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle and drove it to the dealer for inspection. Mechanic replaced the pads and both frontal rotors, but the problem still existed. *ak

Headlights/ interior dash board lighting flickering. During the day time hours the dash board lights seem to surge. The power for the 12 volt outlets in the car when braking take off times. In the evening hours the headlights will flicker on and off without cause during normal driving times. The flickering will not be stopped by turning off the headlight control switch and sometimes the switch will not operate the headlights at all. I bought a used vehicle from a dealership. The front passenger side buckle seemed to be defective and usually didn't latch at all. *ak

After 8 repair attempts there continued to be a ticking noise in the steering column upon tight turns, such as parking lot maneuvers. This is most noticeable on high temperature days. There is a less noticeable tick in the steering column at 25-30 mph slight correction steering.*ak

The first failure was the airbag light staying on continuely. I had it repaired a few months after buying the vehicle new. Less than six months later, the light stayed on again. Power steering pump makes a loud whin or growl when turning. This is intermittent and the dealer cannot duplicate. I have driven the vehicle 25 miles to their shop with the sound but by the time they get their tech out to check it, it quits. Another mechanic has heard it and suggested it is a pressure resistence valve. The dealer changed the pump approx 15 months ago and it quit for about 3 months then it began again. It has gotten increasingly more often and louder. The dealer says that the manufaturer will not allow another "random" change of the pump under warranty. I have about 4000 miles left on the 36,000 mile warranty.*ak

Dt: 2002 chrysler dodge minivans are prone to leaking water into the passenger side foot well area when the air conditioner is operating. This problem has happened for the past three years, and has been fixed three times by the dealership. The consumer had to pay after the warranty ran out. The air conditioner compressor failed prematurely. The consumer has had the compressor replaced, the warranty paid for that. The compressor failed in june of 2005. The vehicle has 69,000 miles. The reason i'm writing this is because 'm trying to find out the proper steps to take to have an investigation on the failure of the seatbelts and seats. On the 16th of march 2003 my family and i were in a terrible accident in corpus christi texas. We were heading home to new braunfels texas when i ran into construction and the flow of traffic came to a stop and a full size van rear ended my minivan at about 30mph. In the car i had my pregnant wife, mother, dad and 2 year old daughter. The car was a 2002 dodge caravan and my daughter was strapped into the car seat and everyone else was using their seatbelts. My moms seatbelt which was located on the center bench seat directly behind the passenger seat came undone. It held at the initial impact but gave way after that. Two things that saved her were my arm and my father's seat which is the second problem i have snapped back and broke and pinned her legs and prevented her from flying through the windshield. My seat and her center bench seat also snapped back and injured my daughter. *nlm

It has turned off three times and i went to speak to my sales rep tom zulli who did not help then i spoke to mike in service and he does not help and rob upson the general manager who was very nasty because i asked him for a replacement van or a refund. The name of the dealership is neil dodge at 1788 route 112, medford ny 11763. I feel as if if i do not have any rights i have reported them to better business bureau and consumer affairs, daimler chrysler noone is helping me. I gave a 10,000 deposit and i have driven my van a total of one week and i am going on my second payment but i do not have my van. This last time i picked it up after it being in service for 3 three weeks the very next day it would not turn on. When i called neil dodge it took them 3 days to pick it up and when they did, i had to call more than 5 times that day. They have had the van over a week and still not one call. They have given me a rental in the meantime and according to rob upson they do not have to. It was done as a favor. The catch to this rental is that i have to pay $13.00 a day for insurance since 12/28/02. I still have the rental because my van is still in repairs and noone knows what is wrong with the van. When i purchased the van mr. Tom zulli told me the prior owner of this van returned it because he could no longer afford to pay it. When i called daimler chrysler they informed me it was a rental, of course they gave me a paper saying so, which i signed not knowing but they gave more than 10 forms to sign how was i supposed to know that i was being tricked. Please help me as i am feeling very helpless and as if i do not have any rights at all.

Consumer states battery service light came on indicating highs voltage or low voltage. Dealer has inspected the vehicle several time and could not duplicate or correct the problem. While driving at 30 mph across some railroad tracks, consumer states" the vehicle had a tire blow out on the passenger front. All 4 tires have needed replacing under 11,000 miles. I had purchased a 2002 dodge caravan se and immediately after it was back in the shop for repairs. I heard a noise in the window and the dodge place told me it was nothing not to worry about it. Also i have made several trips to the dodge place for the brakes (replaced 6 times ) , sliding door doesn't stay latched and always slides and hits my children while getting in or out of the vehicle, the drivers side seat belt comes undone for no reason (it wont stay latched), i had a flat and the tire jack broke while jacking up the van, i was stopped at a red light and all of a sudden my van just proceeded to go and i no control other than running in a ditch to stop, the van always drifts to the right when driving and dealer said it not faulty that's how its made to do, i had 7 sets of tires and the dealership said they couldn't find anything wrong with this vehicle , i had an alignment done 4 times because of the drifting and tires wearing out so often, i have had the ball bearings replaced 2 times, i had the ac recharged with freon 2 times it just wouldn't keep cool, the back defroster sometimes doesn't defrost making it impossible to see while driving, bad smell coming from van it smells like a skunk and it makes it hard to breathe. *nm

While slowing down consumer's vehicle was rear ended at about 40-45 mph, and driver /passenger seats collapsed on impact, causing driver to fall on to child and injuring child, the passenger in the front seat hit the back of his head on the mounted portion of the seatbelt.*ak *nlm

2002 dodge caravan 5700 miles, not a typo five thousand seven hundred miles! Airbag light is now on and staying on. Key chrysler is going to look at van feb 25 2002. From reading other posts i dont have much faith in them fixing the problem. Personally i think airbags should be totally optional!

Dt: 2002 dodge caravan. The headlights on my 2002 dodge caravan flashed off and on intermittently driving at night.. Had this problem since purchasing the vehicle. Had not had any accidents. Consumer states whiles driving airbag lights comes on radmomly. The dealer they stated that the clock spring comes loose disabiling the airbag. Contacted 2 dealer for parts cannot get due to the fact it is on back order. Nlm

Rear driver's side speaker caught on fire while driving. Dealership indicated that this was caused by a power surge in the system. The speakers were original equipment.*ak

Electrical system malfunctioned, causing right turn signal to come on when the left signal is engaged and visa versa/fuel gauge to read the incorrect fuel level, and windshield wiper switch not to respond to the correct speed.*ak
