• Recall 107934 [USA]: These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules, and used as original equipment or replacement equipment. these inflators may rupture due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling. an inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
  Chrysler (fca us llc) expanded the affected population to include 73,712 2005-2009 ram 2500 trucks produced at the st. Louis north assembly plant. With this change, chrysler is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 ram 1500, 2005-2009 ram 2500, 2006-2009 ram 3500, 2007-2010 ram 3500 cab chassis, 2008-2010 ram 4500 and 5500 cab chassis, 2004-2009 dodge durango, 2007-2009 chrysler aspen, 2007-2012 jeep wrangler, 2008-2012 dodge challenger, 2005-2008 dodge magnum, 2005-2012 chrysler 300, 2006-2012 dodge charger, 2005-2011 dodge dakota, and 2006-2009 mitsubishi raider vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in al, ca, fl, ga, hi, la, ms, sc, tx, puerto rico, american samoa, guam, the northern mariana islands (saipan), and the u.S. • Recall 114708 [USA]: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
  Chrysler (fca us llc) is recalling certain model year 2005-2009 dodge ram 2500, 2004-2008 dodge ram 1500 and durango, 2006-2009 dodge ram 3500, 2008-2010 dodge ram 4500 and 5500, 2007-2008 chrysler aspen, 2005-2010 chrysler 300, 300c, 300s, and srt8, 2006-2010 dodge charger, 2005-2008 magnum, 2005-2011 dodge dakota, and 2006-2009 mitsubishi raider vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with a dual-stage driver frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture.
  chrysler will notify the affected chrysler and dodge owners and mitsubishi will notify the affected raider owners. Dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. • Recall 2016265 [Canada]: Airbag
  On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury. Correction: dealers will replace the airbag inflator. Note: canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. The recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk, and is expected to replace airbag inflators before their function would be affected.

• Recall 2015228 [Canada]: Airbag
  On certain vehicles, the driver frontal airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Note: this recall supersedes special service campaign 2015-003. Correction: dealers will replace airbag inflators. All vehicles having received a replacement inflator as part of the previous special service campaign will have a replacement inflator installed.

• Desiccated air bag inflator rupture investigation # EA21002

  From 2000 through 2017, takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("psan") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004l. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 blomquist report at www.Nhtsa.Gov/sites/nhtsa.Gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.Pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in us vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced.In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004l that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated psan inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All takata inflators produced with propellant 2004l contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004l are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated psan inflators.It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- takata (now known as tk global), the independent testing coalition, and exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of takata desiccated psan inflators using propellant 2004l (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004l is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004l.The office of defects investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated psan frontal inflators manufactured by takata. This investigation will require extensive information on takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated psan inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.Gov/recalls?Nhtsaid=ea21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). My car started smoking from under the hood and coming through the vents . It over heated . So then i opened up the hood and smoke with you coming out a bit crazy then something food from the engine like to hit me in the face but i do. It broke my dipstick oil stick the piece off. Now my car is running hot smoking and making a loud crazy noise sounds like it's going to blow up or something i don't know what to do help me please. My husband just recently passed so i'm on my own and i'm all by myself just me and my daughter so i don't know a lot about cars please help me

The fuel line from the fuel pump came off while driving down the road it has never been touched it is all factory original and i found two other hoses off to both had no clamps on it from the factory this is a major fire hazard and i want to be repaid for my repairs you should've already recalled this it's on the internet and it has been proven it's happened to multiple vehicles why has this not been recalled this is a major fire hazard and you're doing nothing about it is dodge paying you to keep your mouth shut or you as crooked as the rest of the companies out there it sounds like it because why is it all over the internet why has nothing been done this should've been took care of years ago

Every time the fuel tank is filled to 3/4 or more there is always a back splash of about 2-3 cups of fuel. If engine has been running long could run down side of vehicle and ignite on hot exhaust pipes.

While driving all electrical and engine, steering shut down with no notice....No lights or steering while in the dark will get me killed

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 dodge durango. Upon opening the driver's door, the contact noticed that the interior of the vehicle was drenched after it rained overnight. The contact stated that the failure was due to the sun roof assembly because the assembly failed at least ten times before within the past ten months. The contact stated that the failure first occurred in june of 2017. At that time, the vehicle was taken to the dealer (crystal chrysler/jeep/dodge in brooksville, florida, 352-597-1265) where it was diagnosed that the sun roof failed. The sun roof assembly was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer and the sun roof was repaired once again. The approximate failure mileage was 174,000.

On november 24, 2017 car purchased from pinellas auto brokers, inc. Located at 4600 66th street north, st. Petersburg, florida. The next morning, november 25, 2017,car was taken for oil change and inspection. Was told the vehicle would need frame restoration and then apply for a salvage title after inspection, none of which was disclosed at time of purchase. Salesperson assured me that no vehicles come to the lot with any major damage, only minor issues. Per mechanic, not road worthy and is outside mechanical limits; not only a danger to the passengers, but other drivers as well and unsafe to drive. I do not feel safe driving in this car with my 2 children (ages 3 & 6). My mother paid for the car via debit card. Would like to know what recourse i have for selling an unsafe vehicle.

The transmission puts itself into 4wd sometimes with an instrument panel light, sometimes without. It does this both when stopped and at highway speeds. I've seen hundreds of the same complaint when i searched this online. It's a 2008 model but it's a relatively new car for me so, that is why i'm just mentioning it now. In the few months i've owned the vehicle, this has happened no fewer than 10 times. On two separate occasions it happened while i was driving. I did not crash on either of those occasions but, it was very close both times. The second time, after lurching very hard across two lanes, it then kicked into neutral and i was unable to accelerate or even continue down the road to a safe spot to stop. Instead, i was stuck in an active lane to wait on a tow truck. Luckily, i was not hit. I was just stranded. If this was just me, i wouldn't complain here. When traveling on the expressway or the street at 40 to 50 mph my 2008 dodge durango almost loses control whenever i hit a groove in the road or the slightest bump. My suspension has been check several times and nothing is ever found to be wrong. I was recently at the dealership for another recall when i asked about this issue and i was informed this was called the "death wobble" or the "road walk". When i hit a bump my truck can literally skip into the next lane. I have researched online and found this is a common problem for dodge suvs. I don't understand how something so potentially dangerous has not been addressed. This has been an ongoing issue. My first step is to file a vehicle safety to make you guys aware of the issue. This has been ongoing and i've ignored it thinking that is just the way these trucks are made, but after almost losing control with my family in the car i have to do something.
