  Sabersport is recalling 16,270 combination corner and bumper lamp assemblies of various part numbers sold for use as aftermarket equipment for various passenger vehicles. These headlamps fail to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment." these lamps do not contain the required amber side reflectors.

• Recall 84497 [USA]: When the wiper system fails, the operator will have reduced visibility which could result in a crash.
  Chrysler is recalling 1,364 windshield wiper modules, p/n 55077098aj, sold during the 2008 and 2009 calendar year for use as aftermarket replacement equipment on my 2002-2009 dodge ram pickup trucks. These wiper module assemblies may be susceptible to water intrusion that could result in partial or complete loss of windshield wiper capability.

  Certain cequent 90 degree 7-way right angle adaptors sold by distributors in tow packages for aftermarket sales to tow 5th wheel rv travel trailers. Due to incorrect wiring of the harness, the trailer lights may not operate properly.

• Recall 35076 [USA]: This may allow development of a short circuit in the connector, which could eventually lead to a fire.
  On certain van and wagon vehicles equipped with 4-wheel antilock brake systems (abs), aftermarket batteries may leak electrolyte onto the abs control module connector, which can compromise sealing integrity of the connector.
  dealers will inspect the abs control module connector for electrolyte damage and replace the connector as necessary. The recall will begin on september 27, 2004. Owners should contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

• Recall 495 [USA]: During rotation, the brake line could separate from the caliper resulting in a brake fluid loss in the rear brake hydraulic system.
  On certain 4x4 pickup trucks, the rear axle flange weld to the axle tube could fatigue and allow the brake caliper assembly to rotate.
  dealers will install rear brake caliper reinforcements on the rear axle assemblies. Owner notification began december 9, 2002. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact daimlerchrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

• Recall 2003059 [Canada]: Electrical
  On certain pickup trucks, the electrical connector at the bottom of the steering column may contain an under-sized terminal in the heater ventilation air conditioning (hvac) blower motor circuit. Localized heating from current flow with the blower speed set on high may cause the terminal contacts to relax and lose contact. This can cause the hvac blower motor to become inoperative. Correction: dealer will install an approved wiring harness.

• Recall 2002110 [Canada]: Brakes
  On certain ram 1500 4x4 pickup trucks the rear axle flange weld to the axle tube could fatigue and allow the brake caliper assembly to rotate. During rotation, the brake line could separate from the caliper resulting in a brake fluid loss in the rear brake hydraulic system potentially resulting in a crash. Correction: dealers will install rear brake caliper reinforcement collars on the rear axle tube assemblies.

Correction: dealer will inspect the abs control module connector for electrolyte damage, and replace the connector as necessary. All affected vehicles will also have a shield installed to protect the connector from future battery electrolyte leakage.

• Safety belt cinching latch plate investigation as of 20021106

  There are no injuries or fatalities associated with this alleged defect.While conducting this investigation, odi found that the subject cinches meet the load bearing requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard 208, and that many of the reported failures were due to incorrect child safety seat installations. Additionally, the report rate is low (1.60/100k).The information available fails to establish the existence of a defect trend at this time.Further allocation of agency resources to this issue is unwarranted and the preliminary evaluation is being closed.

Took van in for inspection and was informed that the entire frame had rust issues. Was told the front frame was so bad i should just park it as that anything from the radiator to the engine could just fall out with one good jolt. Did a little research and found this is a common problem with these vehicles as with the toyota trucks. The body shop i took it to said he had 13 of them this year alone. I crawled under there and there are large areas of frame that has just disappeared. Either poor quality steel or improper rust prevention at manufacture point could cause this much damage. Company should be made to step up and replace the frames. *tr

On 8/8/14, a loud banging sound occurred when going over bumps and railroad tracks while driving to work. At that time, stopped driving van until were able to take it to bettenhausen chrysler jeep in tinley park, il. On 8/14/14. On the same date, we were informed the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The area around the sway bar is completely rusted away. The other areas of the frame show rust and corrosion which will eventually cause the steering mechanism to fail making the vehicle very unsafe to drive. The proper procedures were followed to determine if chrysler would warranty the repair of this vehicle since they have experienced this same problem with some of their other vehicles. Van was transported to riverdale body shop, tinley park, illinois, to determine the cost of repairs. Chrysler was contacted. On 8/27/14 were informed chrysler would not warranty this vehicle. A telephone call was made to their customer care center wherein a case was presented to get them to warranty the work. A letter was also sent out to different chrysler people on this same date.

Tl* the contact owns a 2002 dodge ram model r35. The contact was driving 5 mph when smoke emitted inside of the vehicle and flames were visible from the hood. The failure caused the contact to drive into a ditch but there was no crash. The doors failed to open during the failure so the contact escaped by punching and shattering the windshield. The vehicle was towed to a private mechanic where the mechanic confirmed that the power disruption caught fire. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure and the current mileages were 50,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2002 dodge ram 2500 van. The contact stated while driving 2 mph the steering mount broke from the frame causing a faulty wheel alignment. The vehicle was towed to the contacts home. The contact inspected the frame and notice excessive rust on the frame. The contact called the manufacturer regarding the frame and the manufacturer stated there were no related recalls. The contact stated if he was driving on the highway at high speeds a crash could have occurred. The failure mileage was 140,000.

Total loss of steering due to severe frame rot, which led to the detachment of the steering mounts on the passenger side. Luckily it happened at a slow speed, at that point had to be towed. Had just exited highway at speeds of 65 mph. I informed dodge of this problem approximately 6 months ago, basically they don't care. Vehicle is only 8 years old. If it is happening to my van it is happening to all vans. Action needs to be taken quickly in order to save lives. *tr

All power stops to vehicle, shutting entire engine, power brakes, steering off. It occurs daily, whil edriving on roads/freeways, creating a seriously hazardous situation. Dealer previously replaced the power control module. Problem recently started again. Dealer wants to replace the pcm again at huge cost, but cannot replicate problem and inst sure the pcm is the problem. Might be faulty wiring, but dealer cannot tell. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2002 dodge ram van 3500. While the vehicle was parked the steering wires broke in half and the steering box snapped off. He attempted to file a claim with the manufacturer and was denied; however, a supervisor advised him to have the steering box diagnosed by the dealer. He has not taken the vehicle to the dealer. The failure mileage was 56,000.

The dash in my 2002 dodge ram quad cab pickup began to crack and has now completely shattered. There are pieces that have broken off and are now effecting my heating and cooling system. I am concerned that if i hit a bump to hard that a piece might actually dislodge and harm someone. Or cause even more severe internal damage that might effect my ability to operate the vehicle. *tr

The dash was fine no events until sept.2008. Opened the truck up one day to reveal a huge crack in the dash. The dash is cracking in the rate of 2 cracks in 2008 and one in 2009 ,one in 2010. We are up to 4 cracks now. Hasn't been fixed. I am hearing horror stories of this causing serious problems. I do not let my kids ride in it.The more it cracks the less safe we feel driving it. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2002 dodge ram. While the vehicle was stationery, the exterior body paint exposed a white spot the size of a softball. The defect was located on the driver's side door and the hood. In addition, there was bubbling on the exterior paint near the driver's side fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they stated that the exterior body paint defect would eventually rust from the inner to the outer surface. The authorized dealer advised that the vehicle be brought in when it begins to rust and possibly repaired at no cost. As of july 24, 2008, the vehicle has not been repaired. The contact took the vehicle to an auto body shop for a second opinion. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 85,000 and current mileage was 89,000.

After owning this vehicle for 6 years< the paint is starting to peel, and it is rusting from the inside out. Although this is not a safety issue i am hoping you can point in the right direction. Thank you. *tr

During a routine tune up on the vehicle the contact was lying on floor with his back facing the driver's seat when the power seat button was accidentally engaged. The contact was pined between the seat and the pedal well. The contact was unable to reach the switch to pull the seat back. Someone was unsuccessful at attempting to assist him due to the seat being pushed forward. The fire department's only option was to use the jaws of life to cut the driver seat out of the vehicle. The contact stated that the front seat location of the switch was the cause of the failure. Tl*the contact owns a 2002 dodge ram. The dashboard has cracked in several places. The vehicle is occasionally parked in direct sunlight and has not been inspected by a dealer. The current mileage is 60,000 and failure mileage was 55,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2002 dodge ram 3500. The contact stated that there is a crack on the vehicle's dashboard which caused the lights to malfunction. The dealer has not inspected the vehicle. There have been no failures to date. The current mileage is 98,700 and the failure mileage was unknown.

The dashboard started cracking around 60,000 miles. It has continued to crack and all of the plastic vent covers have fallen apart into the vents. I have now found out that the insulation in the dash is dry rotting and falling into the a/c vents and causing problems with the a/c motor. This could potentially cause an electrical problem. *tr

Dt*: the contact stated while parked, there was a puddle under the front end of the vehicle. An independent repair shop determined there was a leak in the steering rack. The steering rack needs to be replaced. Updated 03/28/06. *jb

On 11/07/05 i was driving north bound on western ave at approx 4:30 pm,traveling at 40 mph approaching a red light in the right lane with 4 cars in front of me all ready stopped,upon my de pressing of the brake pedal there was no brakes, i tried again ,i down shifted ,at the last second i swerved violently to miss the cars in the first two right lanes,then countered corrected to miss the left turn lane cars ,finally striking a pick up truck ,that was stopped at the red light,that was occupied by a father, and his two children. A sheriffs officer also checked the brakes and stated it was a mechanical failure ,he also stated that with such an impact the air bags should have deployed. My vehicle is a 2002 dodge ram 1 ton maxi cargo van with only 36600. Miles . The very next day my passenger and i looked at the damage to the front end and took pictures and video taped the dash board, that did not indicate any signs of brake, nor air bag failure. The right front brake line appeared to have been rubbing against the upper frame causing the line to rub through. I have pictures of both right and left brake lines touching chassis and both show signs of wear in the same place both hose and chassis. I have all parts and pictures. There is much more to explain . I have just received the van back on 01,10,06 and still notice some sort of braking problem. I also had looked to see new brake lines and noticed the upon depressing the brake pedal that the lines move under pressure and that just maybe after 36000 miles that this problem might,cause the metal brake tube to bend towards the frame. As to the air bag sensors i have asked the dealer ,auto body shop, and insurance investigator were are they no one could answer this nor did it concern them. *jb

Dt: the contact heard a rattling noise in the back of the truck. He was making a trip to los vegas, was walking around the truck on and looked under the wheel and he noticed a clamp that held a spring in place broke. *ak

This vehicle belongs to verizon communications. The van had an under hood fire that originated in the abs module area. The driver noticed smoke coming from under the hood of the van while it was parked at a jobsite where he was working. He called 911 and extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher. He disconnected the battery cables. Daimlerchrysler issued safety recall d20 in 2004 to address this problem but the recall repair has not corrected the problem. Verizon has had 29 incidents that occurred after the recall was performed. This is an unsafe condition that warrants further investigation and action. *tr

I have a problem with the gas tank on my full size van. After coming to a stop a thud can be felt coming from under the van. It only happens when the fuel level reaches 3/4 to 1/2. The dealer told me there are no baffles in the tank and replacing the tank may not cure the problem. I am concerned that this may become worse.

While driving vehicle will experienced sudden acceleration. However, when applying the accelerator pedal vehicle idled quietly, and then suddenly accelerated. *ak

When engaging the cruise control it would intermittently cause the vehicle to shift and advance to a higher speed. Dealer was notified via phone. The dealer or a repair shop made no inspection at this time.*ak the vehicle has accelerated suddenly a number of times in the past 3 years. The cruise control was recently fixed but that was because it didn't work at all. *bf *nm

Windows fog over dangerously, obstructing vision. Dealer reports that air blend door of heater/defroster is rusted solid preventing the admission of fresh air to the cabin, and thus the defrosters. According to the dealer the door is rusted solid in the recirculate position. I suppose this could result in excess carbon monoxide buildup as well as obstructed vision.*ak

Truck began to vibrate dramatically upon braking. The rotors were warped, the brake pads in the front were too small and was causing the problem, a clunking noise had started coming from the rear as time progressed and returned after repairs. *sc at 30,000 miles the entire rear differentail went out.

The consumer placed the vehicle into park, while exiting the vehicle the door knocked the consumer to the ground. The vehicle continued to roll into a creek. The consumer stated that the gear was in park, however she was not sure if it came out of park. The manufacture will be contacted. *jb

While driving 30 mph, the engine stalled due to "engine sludge". The consumer pulled over and had the vehicle towed. The dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. The cause was not determined. Please provide more information. *nm

While making a left turn consumer noticed that the steering wheel became stiff and was unable to steer it properly. Consumer took vehicle to dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the steering shaft needed to be replaced. *ak

While driving the glove compartment light came on and went off on its own. The light bulb switch rattled while driving. The consumer was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and the mechanic determined that this vehicle was not on recall. *ak the front brakes were bad. *sc *jb

Vehicle was involved in a frontal collision while driving at 45 mph. Upon impact, none of the frontal air bags deployed. The entire front end of vehicle was severely damaged. Driver sustained shoulder, leg, angle and knee injuries, and was having headaches. *ak

While driving on gravel road oat 40-45 mph vehicle hit a pot hole, causing it to hydroplane. Vehicle came down, and hit the front of the vehicle first and commenced to flip over a few times, landing on the passenger's side. Upon impact, neither of the frontal air bags deployed. Driver sustained major injuries, and was transported by ambulance to the local hospital. *ak.......*ak

My 2002 dodge conversion van would sit overnight then start the next day but stall right after starting. Happened twice in 3 weeks.*ak

Back seats have no head restraints. Consumer is concerned that if the vehicle is rear ended passengers will sustain major head injuries. *ak

Consumer took vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that steering gear box shaft was defective and replaced it. The windshield and side windows would fog up when the heater and defroster were on, which was making it difficult to see the road. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for testing, but the cause was undetermined. *ak *sc *jb

Fire in dashboard

Rear back door locks had to be replaced. Also, the power steering failed twice and the check engine light illuminated. *ph

While driving vehicle approximately 55 mph vehicle started to shake severely. Have taken vehicle to dealership, and mechanic indicated that the problem was worn disc rotors, which needed to be replaced.*ak

When accelerating. Intermittently accelerator pedal would stick and would not go over 20 mph. Cause has yet to be determine. Had taken to dealership, but the problem had not been resolved.*ak

While driving 40 mph upper ball joints broke, causing the front driver side wheel to separate from the vehicle. *ak

Front rotors keep warping on this truck it has happened about every 10,000 miles. The dealership keeps replacing the rotors under warrenty the pads have never needed replacing and my tires are in great condition. There responce is to change my driving habits. I drive 50 miles one way on the hiway everyday with little braking im at 45,000 and in need of rotors again this will be the 5th set.

No parts available; received a recall notice #c10/c11from the manufacturer. It has been three months and no parts available. The dealership is name gerald north 490 south street lowville telephone#315 376 6211. *ak

While traveling on the highway without prior warning the passenger side mirror broke in half. *tt

While traveling at 50 the right front tire slightly touched the gravel on an uneven parkway, and caused the driver to lose control of vehicle, the vehicle flipped and crashed. Upon impact, the air bags failed to deploy. The passenger was killed. *ak when the tire left the road the consumer turned the wheel back to the left to get the vehicle back onto the road. The vehicle fishtailed in the rear and collided head on into the concrete culvert, flipped end over, and rolled upside down into a ditch. Neither air bag deployed. The consumer was told the size of the wheels should be redesigned due to the chassis. (the change of the center gravity caused the vehicle to be unstable) *scc *jb

I brought my truck to the dealer because it pulled to the right and shuddered at 75mph. I had already had 3 alignments on it since i bought it. Dealer said it was due to the tire wear. Tires wore out at 27,000 miles. Dealer was shocked; it?S a new truck the tires should have lasted 40,000 miles. I got new tires but the truck still pulls right and now it is starting to shudder at 65mph. I have had a pull problem since day one. I have also noticed that the raido lights and all dash lights go out when the key is turned to the rear and giggled a bit. I am bringing the truck in to the shop again this week. I hope it can be fixed.

It has been taken to a dealership for repairs 3 times to no avail. The first time, i was told that i just needed to tighten my wheels. The second time the (rt) upper and lower control arms were replaced. The third time the left control arms were replaced as well as the brake pads. All this work is being done to a new truck and the mechanics don't even know what is wrong with it. They are simply replacing things that they think it might be. I-am very concerned and frustrated because i have a new truck that is constantly in the shop and i now have nothing to drive. Please help. Dt

Folding side mirror spring mechanism failed causing the mirror to "flop" against the side of the vehicle. These mirrors are designed to be folded in and out for clearance at drive-up windows, car washes, etc. The passenger side mirror failed while driving in early september and was repaired under warranty by the dealer in mid-september on 10/19/2002. The driver side mirror failed, this time while folding it back out from the "in" position to the "normal" position. Since there is no way to "rig" the failed mirror in place so that the driver can use it, and because of the long wait for a replacement part, this defect presents a serious safety hazard. Dt

The drivers side mirror came lose on the freeway. I had to go to the dealer to fix it. I think dodge should recall the mirrors, because this could cause a major accident. This could also cause damage to the truck, posable even breaking the glass out of the door or windshield! This would most likely result in a deadly car accident. If it wasn't a power mirror the cords wouldn't have stopped it, and instead of the it just dangling there it would become a projectile which could kill a pedestrian! Or damage another car. The problem is so small that dodge could fix the problem easily and cost affectively, and avoid all the bad press. *ak

My truck stalls unexpectedly up to 3 times a day almost alway in the evening. This happens within the first 3 miles that i drive. The truck is then very hard to get started and keep running. I have had the truck in for service 3 times, and have also contacted the customer service center and repeatedly get un returned phone calls. A/c "warms up in heavy traffic or at light. Blows cold while moving down highway only. I have had it to 2 different dealers and both say that dodge put an inadequate blower/compreesor in the vehicle for its size. One dealers "solution" is to run a/c blower on low so that the air "won't warm up so fast"

Both outer mirrors snapped and swing un restrained. Unable to safely change lanes. The more recent failure was while towing a trailer with children in the vehicle.*ak

On 1/16/02 at 10:00 pm the 2002 dodge ram pickup that my wife was driving collided with a jeep grand cherokee at a intersection. My wife was traveling at a speed approximately 55 to 60 mph on us 13. The jeep grand cherokee made a left turn infront of my wife at the intersection. The left front end corner of my wifes pickup truck struck the front end of the jeep. My wifes truck then drifted to the right and went over the curve. The jeep spunned around from the forceful impact. The front left corner of my wifes truck was destroyed,left front tire was twisted,left side of the engine was smashed in,left corner bumper was bent to the ground, front grill was destroyed,hood,roof,left door were all pushed in but none of the airbags deployed.*ak

While traveling approximately 45 mph right rear tire came off, and left rear of vehicle collapsed. Rear of vehicle started sliding along the ground when it hit a median and was stopped. Driver suffered neck injury. Dealership examined vehicle, and determined the cause as "customer neglect." *note: on november 25, left rear tire had a blowout because of a road hazard. But, lugs: nuts were stripped, and tire had to be removed professionally. Please provide any additional information / documentation. *ak

The factory undercoating was put so heavy and sloppy that when the engine exhaust system heats up the undercoating drips on the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe "flashing" causing hazardous fumes to enter the cab of the vehicle thru the air condition ducts. I requested a "material safety data sheet" for the applied undercoating from the dealership but haven't received anything to date. The fumes entering the truck are suspected carcinogens and could have long term affects.

Consumer is complaining about cracks in the dashboard. Customer states that vehicle has about 10 cracks in the dashboard. The customer would like to know why dodge is not doing anything about this problem. *kb

As a state trooper, i have had a rancher explain to me that three of his 2002 dodge 4x4 trucks have had the transfer case and drive axle "explode". One incident sent a part through the floorboard of the truck into the cab. Could these incidents be associated with the june 13, 2002 recall on brakes?
