P0201

Injector Circuit Malfunction - Cylinder 1

DTC P0201, sometimes indicated as P020100 is an OBD diagnostic trouble code indicating a generic fault with the vehicle powertrain (i.e. engine and gearbox). This code identifies an error with the air/fuel mixture causing injector circuit malfunction - cylinder 1.

The most common causes of a DTC P0201 are a bad injector, a bad wiring harness, or a bad PCM.
If there is no spark or fuel at the injector, the injector is bad.
If there is spark or fuel at the injector, the wiring harness is bad.
If there is no spark or fuel at the injector and the wiring harness is good, the PCM is bad.

2013 FORD F-150 with 120000. miles

At times my 2013 F-150 would kill and other times would be non responsive at idle while traveling. The first time it happened was while i was trying to merge onto the interstate, while merging onto the 70mph interstate the truck immediately lost power after driving over an uneven area of asphalt; however 3-4 seconds later the throttle response returned to normal. Weeks go by and i am traveling across 22 mile causeway bridge which has no shoulders, as i am accelerating to pass a car the truck stalls, no throttle response, within a few seconds it is back running normal. The battery warning light came on after for 30 seconds to a minute then went off. I had the battery and alternator checked and both tested fine. The truck runs fine for a few weeks and then it stalls again while merging on the interstate or while passing another vehicle. The last time i was driving home in a heavy rain storm at night busy area of interstate and it completely stalls in panic i am pushing on the accelerator hoping i can make it to the shoulder cars behind me sliding all over the road trying to avoid hitting me and my family; we are finally safe on the shoulder of the road, the truck would turn over but would not start, check engine light was on and obd codes P0201, P0202...., actually a code saying open circuit for every injector. Called a wrecker service to have the vehicle towed to closest Ford dealership. The dealership diagnoses the problem as fuel pump fuse has melted the connection in the fuse panel. Its a" Ford tsb-15-0137 " Ford even sells the part to fix this problem. How can a company acknowledge they have a problem because hey specifically made another part to fix the problem but not be held responsible. I had to pay the tow service, rental car, and the cost of parts and labor, for a problem that as i googled tsb-15-0137 a lot of 2013 Ford f150 owners are experiencing.

2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU with 55000.0 miles

While driving my 2011 chevy Malibu a service esc service traction message came on then it says esc off traction control off. This happened one time & after car was turned off & started again, problem didn't occur again until a couple months later. Then the message then was coming on almost everytime i drove the vehicle, & when the message was on the car would spit & sputter.Trok it into the local shop they replaced the traction control sensor. This helped for a couple months, problem then occurred again, took back into shop they replaced the camphasors, this helped for a couple months. Then vehicle became undriveable: rpms would drop to zero, car would loose all power while driving would need to shut car off & start again, spitting & sputtering of the engine & loosing power. Took vehicle in they tested it and it ran codes P0300,P0204,P0203,P0202 & P0201 they contacted gm who recommended replacing the ecm. Replaced ecm. A week later service esc/service traction message is now appearing off and on again. Car will spit & sputter when message is on. This issue has been going on for over a year & no one can tell me how to fix it??? I can not afford to have my vehicle in the shop every week with the mechanics guessing as to what will fix this. There are many of these complaints out there & gm can not tell me how to fix this issue. I am now back to square one. I have a 4 year old vehicle that does not even have 100,000 miles on it and i can not trust it to take it anywhere. This issue needs to be resolved before someone gets hurt, very unsafe to have a vehicle spit & sputter randomly & loose all power driving down the road! Very unimpressed with gm & my gm vehicle, will never own another gm vehicle again.

2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU with 887669. miles

My 2010 chevy Malibu lt 2.4 l began misfiring on cylinder 1 giving me th codes P0201 and P0301. After getting those readings i began driving home and the car began to jerk and lose power followed by the service traction and service esc warning lights flashing along with the engine light. So i began to accelerate again and the gears had trouble shifting and horse power was reduce when trying to take off. The car would slip gear at 40 mph and around 60 - 65 mph. Lights will not go off unless negative battery post is removed and then reconnected. Then problem returns when car is driven again. I searched my vin number and there is no recall for my vin but my car has the same issues as 100s of other 2010 chevy Malibus. I really dont feel safe driving this car. I wish i any other option to getting this problem fixed asap!!!

2010 FORD FUSION with 5970.0 miles

As i was passing another vehicle, the vehicle lost power and a warning light illuminated telling me to pull over immediately. Luckily i was able to make it to the side of the highway. The codes pulled were P0010, P0201, P0202, P0203, P0204. The dealer checked the electrical connections and reassembled. The issue happened again on 5/30/11 as i was driving on the highway. The same codes as the first incident was found with an additional code of P1A03. Again the dealer checked the electrical connections and reassembled. I feel this is a safety issue because when you are driving along on the highway the cars around you do not expect you to dramatically slow down. If you manage to safely make it to the side of the road without being in an accident or causing an accident you still face another safety issue being stuck on the side of the road with traffic going by at 65 mph.

2002 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY with 130000. miles

Van started running rough and smoking heavy blue/white smoke out the exhaust pipe. The smoke was from raw unburned fuel that was pouring into the engine and unable to be burned off at any rpm below 3000. The van was fine when last parked at our residence. Next day wife was going to the store and van immediately had the problem. Cool engine, had been sitting overnight. She drove about half a mile thinking the van would run smoother before seeing and smelling the gas and smoke. She immediately returned the van to the house. I checked the diagnostic code which indicated P0201: #1 fuel injector open circuit. I am fairly handy with vehicle repairs and decided to take the top half of the intake off to check the #1 injector and inspect the other 5 as well while there. All injectors coil resistance checked fine at 12.5 ohms, no open circuit as indicated. Decided to check the fuel rail wiring harness for a short circuit and sure enough the #1 cylinder wiring indicated a short circuit. With the meter on the injected plug, wiggled the harness and the short went away. So i removed the entire injected wiring harness for inspection, this involved removing all the factory wire wrap and protective sleeve. Discovered that all the wires inside the harness had all the insulation missing at one section next to the main harness connector. The harness was protected and not touching any part of the engine yet failed. I contacted local Chrysler parts dept. And inquired about a replacement harness, response was new harness over $200 and had to be ordered. Was also told that this particular harness which fits 2001 - 2003 Chrysler vans, is ordered by Chrysler garages at 53 units a week. This is where the problem lies. This is a factory flaw and needs to be recalled before a fire starts or toxic fumes from the exhaust injures a passenger. There is no heat shield at this connectors location which i believe caused the harness failure. I repaired the harness and engine runs.
