• Recall 68299 [USA]: Separation of the ball stud from the socket of the ball joint housing would allow the control arm to collapse and the wheel to fold in causing loss of steering control, possibly resulting in a crash.
  Qualis automotive is recalling certain aftermarket ball joints sold for use on certain passenger vehicles. The socket may have been excessively hardened which could cause it to crack near the retaining ring groove allowing the ball stud to separate under impact load. The subject ball joints were sold as four part numbers, d10945, d10946, g10945, and g10946. The affected control arms, d10945 and d10946, are stamped with the following dates on the ball joints: 134308, 135708, 100109, 102709, 104109, 105509, 107609, 108909, 110309, 113209, and 116609. The g10945 and g10946 are the same part as the d10945 and d10946 respectively. They are labeled differently depending on the aftermarket customer.

Hi! My son was driving my 2006 dodge stratus and the control arm broke and the axle separated on the passenger side causing it to hit a parked car. We have a police report that documents the axle separation and pictures are available. I noticed online that this had been a problem with the 2006 dodge stratus so i checked for recalls but our vin was not part of the recall (10e059000). My husband went to the dealership who sold me the car and he called dodge customer service but apparently there was nothing that can be done. My car can not be repaired. In the past the car's front end had been repaired a number of times and it was due for an inspection this month.

Came in to knowledge that my vehicle has recall notices in reference to ball joint issues. My driver side is starting to make noise, but i own my car and do not have a dealership to go to. Can i be directed to a dealership that can do the needed replacement?

While investigating a minor two vehicle traffic crash involving the above mentioned vehicle, i noticed that both front air bags had deployed. The driver had sustained swelling and abrasions to his hands and forearms from the airbags, and the front seat passenger complained of soreness in the shoulders. No medical treatment was called for. Upon examining the damage to the vehicle that they were riding in, i saw that the only damage from the crash was to the right front corner. A vehicle that was traveling to the right of them and slightly ahead of them attempted to make a left hand turn. The left side of that vehicle (chevy trailblazer) struck the right front fender of the dodge stratus, as it turned (sideswiped). The damage to the stratus did not seen severe enough to warrant an air bag deployment, and there was no direct frontal impact between the two vehicles. Pictures are available.

I was hearing a clicking noise coming from both sides of my car in the front. I took the car to a mechanic and was informer that my lower and upper control arms were in need of replacement. The mechanic showed me the ball joints and lifted them up with a huge screwdriver. I was told by the mechanic that the tire could separate and cause a accident. I went to autozone and purchased the lower control arms and had them installed on the car. When i took the car to get the recommended alignment i was told that the upper control arms needed to be replaced as well. I had at the time about 169,000 miles on the vehicle. I have never received a recall letter from anyone about the problems with the suspension. Its very expensive to repair and very unsafe. I practically ruined a new set of tires because of this suspension problem and i am presently experiencing wear due to the upper control arm needing replacement.

The mechanic told me that the engine needs to be replaced. Sludge on the pick up tube clocked the screen and the engine seized. Always had the oil and filter changed every 3000 miles. Never herd of having to drop the pan and clean a pick up tube when doing a routine oil change. Owned lots of cars in the 30 years i been driving and never experience this. Car has been sitting in my driveway for over a year and i still have to make payments every month. Don't have the money for a new engine. Thanks dodge. I will never ever buy a dodge again. I was driving down the high way when i heard a bang and the car pulled me hard into the medium at 75 miles an hour. I totaled my car. This is the second time the ball joint has sheared off causing the tire to jam in to the fender. First time i was able to get of the road and it was on the driver side of the vehicle. My 2006 dodge stratus rear strut mount plates are disintegrated. Have only had this car a year and i took it in for inspection and the garage said i was very lucky i hadn't been in an accident due to the tie rod was falling apart. I am a single mother of 2 children and i am very fortunate that nothing happened. After being told by the garage about this i did research on the internet to find that there are many complaints about the rear strut mounts falling apart and literally crumbling. Yet i can not find it on a recall list. Dodge needs to recall this problem. I hope this is taken seriously and an investigation into this issue is pursued by the safety commission since there are so many complaints on the internet. I only had the money to fix the tie rod. Now some how soon i have to come up with the money for the strut mount plates, need to be replaced so i can drive this car safely with my 2 children. *tr

The front oil seal came out of its seat causing massive oil leak. After engine removal and disassembly i found the wrong lower main thrust bearing was installed. This caused excessive stress on the top thrust bearing causing bearing failure causing end play in crankshaft resulting in oil seal failure. Fire danger from oil covering underside of vehicle. The lower main bearings were all the same. No flanged thrust bearing. *kb

Without warning, while driving my 2006 dodge stratus sxt at 35 mph the bolts on the caliper bracket broke. I had no brakes and had to have it towed. Ii was in a accident and my seatbelt did not lock nor did the airbags deploy. I rearended someone at 25mph. They were stopped on the freeway. So it was a fairly hard hit. My complaint is that i purchased a 2006 dodge stratus in 2006. And am already working on putting in my second bottom end of the motor. It started leaking oil at 17,000 miles and now it's started back leaking oil in the same spot at 46000 miles. To say the least my work order to get my now out of warranted car fixed says the same thing it said at 17000 miles. Now i'm looking at paying out over 5,500 dollars to get it fixed again. And still have to make a car payment on this junk!!! *tr

The vehicle sputtered a little and died. After getting it started and going further up the street in traffic, it died and would not restart. Purchased the car in june 2007 still under warranty thinking i would not have problems since any repairs should be covered under warranty. I have taken the car in 6 times for the same repairs. The first is the brakes, they squeak and rub. They have scrubbed them 3 different time and it still is happening. (they are collecting moisture to cause rust) the second is a bump stop which i understand is common in dodge/chrysler products. They refuse to do anything more with it since when they put it on the machine the codes come back with no problems. They had replaced some of the parts back a few months ago. This repair cut down on the amount of bump stops but did not stop them. There is a creaking sound in the front end. They have greased the struts and replaced a carried arm. The noise is still there. The lights dim after 17-30 seconds when the car is running. Everyone but the mechanics seems to see this one happening. Dealer also sold this vehicle without disclosing it had been in a prior accident! *tr

Attempted use of windshield wiper fluid and no fluid came out and severely smeared window. Went home put in fluid. Could hear motor running but no fluid coming out. I have a friend who has the exact same make and model and year vehicle. She reported her windshield wiper pump has also failed. *tr

My daughter was driving home when another vehicle made an illegal left turn in front of her. At the time of the crash, she was going approx. 40 mph, but the air bag did not deploy, the seat belt flew off and the driver seat flew forward (and yes everything was locked in place). Because of the accident, she had a strained neck, shoulder, back and because the seat flew forward, her knees were injured. I sent a complaint to dodge, but because the insurance company had already repaired the car, they did not want to look at the car. At the auto shop, they did not check to see if the air bags worked (or even if there are air bags in the steering wheel) or find out why the seat flew of or why the driver seat flew forward. All of my children have been putting their seat belts on since they were small children -- i can guarantee that the seat belt was secure. *jb

Jan 17,2008 car started leaking oil at 53,300 miles. Call dealership said bring in to replace the main crank seal and hopefully that should fix problem and if not the i would have to replace crank shaft. Well 3,000 miles later less than a month later car started leaking oil again. Car been parked since call dealership set up to have crank shaft replace there was a service bulletin that they told me replace the crank shaft and the car would been fine this was may 20,2008 it took then a month to get my part with my car sitting at the dealership then a week and half they call me saying the crank shaft wouldn't work because basely the crank had destroy my engine and i need to replace the engine. I've try to get the dealership to either replace the bad engine or give me a reasonable trade .I was told by there service people to put a seal in it and get rid of it down the road at another dealership since i didn't have the money to replace the motor then the same thing from there general manger when i asked for help they told me to take it down the road at another dealership and get rid of it. I had them replace the seal again trying to take my car home in less than a 1 1/2 the seal came out again i have called at different time to get this problem resolve the won't even return my calls .I have contacted the corp and still haven't any result. *tr

I was starting to turn left to enter a highway on ramp when suddenly the car lost steering for a second and i had no control of the car. I hit the brakes and clipped a curb which blew out the right front tire and damaged the wheel. I took the car to the dealership and their service department reported nothing wrong with the steering or front end. The service manager said i need to contact chrysler and try to get them to replace my tire and wheel. The car only had 3,750 miles on it and the road was dry and free or anything which would cause it to not turn. Other cars had no problem turning left. *jb

Tl*- the contact has a complaint that the paint is peeling off of the back bumper. He noticed two weeks after purchase. The car was taken back to dealership because after he washed car with normal soap he noticed the peeling paint .

I was driving on the highway 6:40 a.M. And crashed with tow horses, i was driving at 150 km/hr and the tow air bag do not open, i ask the dealer why the air bags do not open and the answer was because i pushed the brake, the damage in the car was a lot but the air bag do not open. *jb

While driving a rented dodge stratus with the cruise control set at 60 mph the vehicle began to slow down to 35 mph. The throttle on this car is so poorly designed that when you want to proceed from a stop, the car will not do so slowly, but rather peels out or accelerates so suddenly it is dangerous. Two dealers have looked at it and say it is performing as designed. A technician at the ca state garage almost crashed the car when trying to put it into the car wash when it suddenly accelerated on him. The car only has 2500 miles on it and it has only had me as the driver, even though it is owned by the state of ca. This has been happening since i was assigned the car and it had only 10 miles on the odometer. *jb
