  • Recall 84399 [USA]: If there is a separation of the ball stud from the housing, the driver can loose steering control, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash.
    Federal-mogul is recalling certain replacement control arm assemblies, part numbers k7425, 10945, fa4510x, k7427, 10946, and fa4611x, sold for use on various passenger vehicles listed above. The ball joint on the control arm assembly can fail causing the ball stud to wear through the control arm housing resulting in noise and/or separation of the ball stud from the housing.

  • Recall 68303 [USA]: Separation of the ball stud from the socket of the ball joint housing would allow the control arm to collapse and the wheel to fold in causing loss of steering control, possibly resulting in a crash.
    Qualis automotive is recalling certain aftermarket ball joints sold for use on certain passenger vehicles. The socket may have been excessively hardened which could cause it to crack near the retaining ring groove allowing the ball stud to separate under impact load. The subject ball joints were sold as four part numbers, d10945, d10946, g10945, and g10946. The affected control arms, d10945 and d10946, are stamped with the following dates on the ball joints: 134308, 135708, 100109, 102709, 104109, 105509, 107609, 108909, 110309, 113209, and 116609. The g10945 and g10946 are the same part as the d10945 and d10946 respectively. They are labeled differently depending on the aftermarket customer.

  • Recall 46602 [USA]: Fuel restriction could result in loss of power and/or engine stall, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash.
    Certain airtex fuel pump modules, p/nos. E7089m, e7094m, e7113m, and e7129m, manufactured between june 1 and september 24, 2006. These fuel pump modules were sold as aftermarket for use in certain daimlerchrysler vehicles listed above. Silicone material used in manufacture of the flapper valve was out-of-specification, leading to excess swell of the flapper valve restricting the flow of fuel to the fuel pump module.
    airtex will notify owners and replace the defective fuel pump modules free of charge. The recall began on october 18, 2006. Owners may contact airtex toll-free at 1-866-867-3759.

  • Recall 41988 [USA]: Either circumstance may result in the vehicle rolling away without warning.
    On certain passenger vehicles, the floor shifter ignition-park interlock may fail and allow the shifter to be moved out of the park position with the key removed. An inoperative interlock may also allow the key to be removed when the shifter has not been placed in the park position.

  • Recall 14245 [USA]: If this happens, the "ignition-park" interlock system will be nonfunctional.
    Vehicle description: passenger vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions. The adjustment of the cable connecting the console shifter mechanism to the ignition key can cause a trapped key condition which can result in a low force required to depress the shift button. A combination of applying a mis-adjusted release button with a low force attempt to shift out of park with the key in the locked position, can break the connecting pin in the shifter.
    dealers will inspect for proper operation of the system. Any vehicles that are not functional after the inspection will have the shift mechanism and cable replaced with a "self-adjusting" design.

    The brake master cylinder can leak brake fluid due to a damaged double lip rear piston seal.

    Corrosion of the abs hydraulic control unit can cause the solenoid valves to stick in the open position.

    In certain vehicles, the engine cylinder head oil galley plug does not seal properly and engine cylinder head oil is not adequately retained.

  • Recall 2004003 [Canada]: Other
    On certain vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission and a floor-mounted shifter, the ignition-park interlock may become defeated and allow the shifter to be moved out of the park position with the key removed. An inoperative interlock may also allow the key to be removed when the shifter has not been placed in the park position. This may result in the vehicle rolling away without warning. Correction: dealer will inspect the function of the ignition-park interlock system. Vehicles found with functional interlock systems will have a load-limiting push rod installed into the floor shifter lever. Vehicles with a non-functional ignition-park interlock system will have the shifter assembly replaced.

  • Recall 1998061 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
    These vehicles may not comply with c.M.V.S.S. 210 - seat belt assembly anchorages. The rear seat belt anchor may not achieve the loading required by the standard during testing. Correction: the rear outboard seat belt anchor floor attachments will be inspected for orientation and repositioned if required.

  • Recall 1998165 [Canada]: Other
    Note: vehicles equipped with a floor mounted automatic transmission shift lever. A combination of applying a mis-adjusted shifter release button with a low force attempt to shift out of park with the key in the locked position may break the connecting pin in the shifter. If this happens, the "ignition-park" interlock system will not function. Correction: the console shift interlock mechanism will be inspected for proper function. Any vehicles that are not functional after the inspection will have the shift mechanism and cable replaced with a current production "self adjusting" design.

    On certain vehicles, the lower control arm ball joint may separate due to loss of lubrication. This separation could result in loss of vehicle control and a crash without prior warning. Correction: ball joint end housing cover seal will be inspected for leakage and the rubber boot will be inspected for damage. If the cover seal leaks or the boot is damaged, the lower control arm will be replaced.

  • Recall 1996009 [Canada]: Engine
    An engine cylinder head oil galley plug may not be adequately retained. Inadequate retention of the plug may result in oil leakage which could potentially cause a fire in the engine compartment. Correction: an expansion plug and retaining bracket will be installed over the suspect cylinder head oil galley plug.

  • Recall 1996078 [Canada]: Brakes
    Corrosion of the abs hydraulic control unit may cause the solenoid valves to stick in the open position. If either front wheel valve sticks, the vehicle may tend to deviate from a straight stop when the brakes are applied. Correction: a plate will be installed on the abs hydraulic control unit and silicone grease injected into the solenoid cavity to eliminate the potential for this condition.

    The manufacturer reports above are based on daimlerchrysler¿s (dc) analysis of model year (my) 1998 (population = 356,384) and 1999 (population = 486,948) ja, jx and lh family subject vehicle data (earlier mys excluded).The population number includes all mys.The precise number of duplicates between odi and dc reports cannot be determined due to missing or incomplete information.The fatality incident involved an elderly person who attempted to stop a roll away vehicle and received fatal injuries.Odi also gathered information on my 1997-99 prowler vehicles in this investigation. Purchased vehicle with clean carfax record in feb 06 with 75k miles. At 81k miles transmission started going into limp mode(slams into second gear regardless of vehicle speed). Took car to dealership for diagnostic. They stated the input and output speed sensors were failing according to the computer. I replaced them. A week later the transmission fully failed. Towed to a reputable transmission chain store. They fully rebuilt the mechanicals of transmission and replaced the speed sensors again. As i drove home the transmission returned to limp mode. Returned to shop. They test drove it and second gear clutches burned up. They rebuilt it again and also replaced valve body and solenoid pack. I drove the car for a month before it again started limping. Took the car to another dealership for diagnosis. They blamed the shop and stated they couldn't do anything for me but upgrade the flash in the transmission computer. The computer diagnostics could not reveal why the computer was putting the car in limp. Returned car to previous transmission shop for yet another rebuild. Drove car 2 months before it again started limping. Returned car to trans shop, they rebuilt it again. Still couldn't find concrete cause, replaced valve body again, had me buy replacement transmission computer from dodge, this fixed it for another 2 months. Yesterday it again started going into limp. There is 200 miles remaining in the 12,000 mile rebuild warranty from the first rebuild so it will be in the shop for the 5th time in less than a year. *nm

I am filing this complaint with respect to a 1995 dodge stratus. The dodge stratus is equipped with a device which i assume is tied in with the car's electronics or computer. The purpose of this specific device is to monitor the operation of the car's transmission so that whenever the transmission is under stress or is not operating as designed or intended (or at least the the computer surmises that the transmission is not operating normally or up to standard), the computer whenever that occurs automatically downshifts the dodge stratus to 2nd gear without any prior warning or notice whatsoever to the driver and the dodge remains in 2nd gear until such time as the dodge is brought to a complete stop and until the engine is completely turned off. If you then allow the dodge engine to remain off for 3 or 4 minutes and then turn the engine back on again, the car will perform normally again and without incident at speeds up to 40 or 50 or 60 miles per hour until such time as the computer, once again, succumbs to the urge to downshift to 2nd gear. At that point, the driver finds himself in 2nd gear and with no viable alternative but to pull off the road and turn off the engine once again. To comprehend what that predicament is like from the driver?S point of view, one has only to envision yourself on the new jersey turnpike or the long island expressway in rush hour traffic with dozens and dozens of 18 wheeler trucks all going 55and 65 miles an hour when, out of the blue, the computer on the dodge stratus decides to downshift to 20 miles an hour and the nearest 18 wheeler truck is only 10 feet behind you and doing 60 miles an hour. In that scenario, the possibilities for a horrible and catastrophic accident costing dozens of lives is apparent---all because the onboard computer on the dodge stratus decided on its own to downshift to 2nd gear. *ak

We could only come to the conclusion after seeing were the car was parked that the dealer mechanics had driven it against my instructions and caused the motor to blow. So instead of what would have been a replaced head gasket, turned into a motor replacement. After contacting cryster customer service, they refused to make any attempt to pay for any damages i had incurred. Vehicle has been to 2 different dealerships. The first was freedom dodge of lexington and the replaced the abs modular. The problem we were having with the car is that we could be traveling at 55 mph or 5 mph and the car would stop running. Resulting no power. Freedom could not find the problem, so we took it to superior dodge and the did a software update to the computer and still same problems happened. Installed a co-pilot and found the dist. Cap sensor was bad. Replaced, picked the car up and within 24 hours the car stalled 5 times. This vehicle has been in the shop now 9 times, going on 10. I need to know the next steps to take. This is a saftey issue. I could kill someone, or be killed in the vehicle. *ak
