• Recall 88287 [USA]: In the presence of an ignition source, a fuel leak could result in a fire.
  Certain airtex fuel pump module assemblies, p/n e7081h, sold for use as replacement equipment for the vehicles listed above. The wall of the flared fitting of the fuel pump is not thick enough to prevent the mating threaded fittings from bottoming out before an adequate seal is achieved. This condition may result in leakage of fuel at the connection of the vehicle fuel line and the fuel pump module assembly.
  airtex will notify owners and replace the fuel pumps free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during july 2007. Owners can contact airtex automotive at 800-880-3056.

• Recall 3421 [USA]: This condition could cause the lower lateral arm ball joint to separate, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. this campaign supercedes mmc's previous safety recall campaign, see 99v-066.
  Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. If the rubber boots on the lower lateral arm ball joints of the front suspension were damaged during assembly, dirt and water can intrude. Also, mmc has added the potential of leaking moisture, which can cause the ball stud to corrode.
  dealers will inspect the lower lateral arm ball joint for wear. Ball joints that exhibit wear beyond the established tolerance will be replaced with newly designed lateral arm ball joints. Ball joints that are within the established tolerance will be cleaned and a special sealant will be applied to prevent intrusion of moisture.

• Recall 13636 [USA]: This condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Vehicle description: passenger vehicles. Lockup of the transfer case can occur due to insufficient lubrication.
  dealers will inspect the vehicles for adequacy of the transfer case oil volume, transfer case oil leakage, and operational degradation of the transfer case mechanism. If oil volume is insufficient, the appropriate amount of oil will be added. If there is transfer case oil leakage, affected components will be replaced. If the transfer case shows operational degradation, the transfer case will be replaced.

  The fuel tank gaskets for the fuel pump and/or gauge unit gasket could have been incorrectly installed allowing fuel or fumes to escape.

• Recall 2001062 [Canada]: Steering
  On certain vehicles, the lower lateral arm ball joint can separate due to loss of lubrication. There is a potential for moisture to leak past the protective boot which can cause the ball stud to corrode. This corrosion, acting much like contamination, can also lead to premature wear and separation of the ball joint. This could result in loss of vehicle control and a possible crash. Correction: lower lateral arm ball joints will be inspected for wear and replaced as necessary with newly designed lower lateral arm ball joints. Ball joints that are within the established tolerance will be cleaned and a special sealant will be applied to prevent the intrusion of moisture.

  On certain vehicles, the rubber boot on the lower lateral ball joint could be damaged, allowing the intrusion of dirt and water, leading to extraordinary wear on the ball joint and possible separation. Tl*the contact owns a 1996 eagle talon. While driving 60 mph the contact heard a noise and the tires locked u without warning. The vehicle was towed ,and a local mechanic diagnosed the failure as a leak in the transfer case. The dealer/manufacturer diagnosed the vehicle as needing a new transfer case. The dealer stated that the vehicle was part of recall # 098v069002. Records indicated that no repairs have been performed. The current and failure mileage were 112,000.*ak

The transfer case went out of my talon tsi awd turbo in 06/05. I was driving down the road 75 mph & bang!-jerk!Bang!Jerk!Bang!Jerk! The steering wheel also felt funny, like it got loose and wasn't hooked to the tires anymore. I pulled over the and heard a loud clunk (metal on metal sort of sound) and put it into gear to baby it into work, it made more noises and jerks but seemed to run. I could smell a burning smell so i parked. The shop picked it up and could not find anything wrong with it. They asked if i was sure i knew what i was talking about! I had driven the car for 90000 miles! I knew what wasn't normal! I picked it up and guess what, it ran great! I speeded up and slowed down again and again and it just wouldn't act up! I could faintly smell the burning smell but figured i picked up some piece of something off of the road and it had been stuck but fell out when i stopped. I went for 50 miles, no problems, then the banging and jerking started again much worse this time. I kept going to see if it would stop and it got so loud that it sounded like a sledgehammer was hitting some part of the engine over and over. It would bang-jerk- bang -jerk etc.. And kept getting worse. Then it just died. The shifter went slack. There was a puddle of oil under the car and the smell of burning fluid. The mechanic picked it up and replaced the transmission/transfer with a used one. I'm wondering if this was the transfer case and not the transmission at all! The mechanic said there wasn't enough oil in the transmission. I didn't know if the transfer case and transmission share the same oil supply or not. After reading this article about the locking up thing it makes perfect sense. Its felt just like it wanted to lock up but for some reason didn't that first time it acted up. The transmission place said they hadn't heard of a transmission banging and clanging like that. *jb

I went through emissions and failed because there was an obd error saying that my check engine light is on, however it was not. I called to the state emissions board and they said it was a recall. I took it to the dealership, at the end of may and it has been in and out ever since trying to fix this recall. It has now been in the dealership consequently for two months. The dealership has told me more than once that they are going to do one more test and then if it fails they will call chrysler and tell them it can not be fixed. But every time they do the test and it fails they end up doing the tests over and over again. I actually had to purchase a vehicle so i would have a car to drive to and from home work school and dr's appointments. I am 8 moths pregnant right now and on bed rest and my doctor is saying i do not need all this extra stress. I called the manufacturer three times whom tells me all i can do is continue to work with the dealership. I have spoken with the general manager of the dealership and same thing, no answers. The general manager actually told me to get a lawyer. I have wrote the better business bureau and now i am writing you. I do not know what else i can possibly do. Please help me!! *jb

Dt*: the contact stated while driving various speeds, a gasoline odor fumigated the vehicle on a consistent basis. The contact encountered many complaints on this matter # 509463 regarding fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly. The vehicle had not been examined by a mechanic or dealer.

Ball joint of front right wheel separated after hitting bump on highway causing limited control of vehicle. *la

We took a car that we recently purchased from a private party to our mechanic for an oil change and found that the head gasket is leaking and it will cost $1000.00 for repair. Also found out this is a problem that the eagle talon had and that there was never a recall on it. We feel that chrysler should do the repair at no cost to us. Power steering and alternator belts fell off. During re-installation and inspection of the crankshaft, it was noticed that the crankshaft was loose. *nlm

Consumer states that vehicle shakes and shimmy's at high speed and lows speeds there is a clunk noise. Please provide any further information. Mr

Vehicle was taken to dealer for recall 00v421002 repairs on lower ball joints. Dealer stated they were worn, but refused to replace them. Consumer had ball joints replaced at an independent repair shop. Please provide additional information.*ak
