• Recall 2022074 [Canada]: Powertrain
  Issue: on certain trucks, the insulation under the truck may loosen and damage the driveshaft. If this happens, the driveshaft could break and cause a loss of power to the wheels. A broken driveshaft could also contact the ground and cause a loss of control. Additionally, the truck could move when the transmission is in park and the parking brake is not used. Note: this recall only affects certain supercab and crew cab models equipped with a gas engine and an aluminum driveshaft. Safety risk: a loss of power to the wheels or a loss of control could increase the risk of a crash. A parked vehicle that rolls away could also create the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective actions: ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to add new attachments for the underbody insulators. The dealer will also inspect the driveshaft for damage and repair it, as necessary.

  Issue: on certain trucks, there may be a defect in the cap for the secondary fuel filter located in the engine compartment. Over time, a pinhole could develop and cause fuel to leak from the top of the fuel filter. Note: this recall only affects trucks with a 6.7 l diesel engine. Safety risk: a fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective actions: ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to replace the primary and secondary fuel filters.

• Recall 2021437 [Canada]: Powertrain
  Issue: on certain trucks, the rear axle tube could deform at the spring seat attachment points. As a result, the driveshaft could detach from the rear axle and cause a loss of power to the wheels. If this happens, the truck could also move when the transmission is in park, and the parking brake is not used. Note: this recall only affects single rear wheel trucks with a 6.7 l diesel engine. Safety risk: a loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A parked vehicle that rolls away could also create the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective actions: ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to inspect the rear axle. If the rear axle housing is deformed, the housing will be replaced. If the housing is not deformed, the dealer will repair the spring seat attachments.

  Issue: on certain trucks, the front wheel hub extenders may not be properly tightened. As a result, the nuts could loosen and a wheel could separate from the vehicle. Note: for f-350 models, this recall only affects trucks equipped with dual rear wheels and four-wheel drive. Safety risk: a wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. A wheel that separates could also hit another person or vehicle. Corrective actions: ford will contact owners and instruct you not to drive your truck. They will provide you with instructions for how to check if the front wheel hub extender nuts are properly tightened. Ford will also give you the option to contact a dealer and arrange to either have the vehicle inspected at your location or have it towed to the dealership. The dealer will ensure that the wheel hub extender nuts are properly tightened.

  Issue: on certain trucks equipped with a fifth wheel trailer hitch, the left-hand mounting bracket for the hitch may be cracked. As a result, the fifth wheel assembly may become loose and could detach while towing a trailer. If this happens, the trailer could separate from the truck. Note: this recall only affects dual rear wheel trucks with a pickup box and a 6.7 l diesel engine. Safety risk: a trailer that separates from the truck could create the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to inspect the left-hand mounting bracket for the fifth wheel trailer hitch. It will be replaced, if necessary.

My setup: truck is level, trailer is 3/8" drop in front, and hitch ball up leaving one hole open from top. After installing product, ensuring proper setup, there is concern for towing safety, as the bottom of the drawbar drop is ~8-1/2" from ground, with reports from others that this setup has on numerous occasions, caused the drop portion of bar to contact pavement under normal towing conditions across the u.S. This has caused concern for possible catastrophic failure of drawbar drop when towing, believing that the welds on drawbar could become weakened and result in a disconnect of tow vehicle and trailer. I contacted the company, asking if they had plans to offer a 0" (would be an actual 3" length drop per their specs on the 6" and 8" drops) drop, or if they could say how much of the excess could be removed/cut from the drop safely. Their response is that there are no current plans to offer other drops and modifying the drawbar would void warranty. Others on various social media have warned of the drop making contact with pavement during the likes of national and state park entries/exits, as well as intersection transitions, etc.. I continued with my order/install, believing they had possibly installed incorrectly, but now see the concern, and do not want to void warranty, and in turn do not want to have a catastrophic failure that could kill someone..
