  Jayco, inc. (jayco) is recalling certain 2016-2017 alante motorhomes built on ford f53 chassis. A heat shield may have not have been installed, allowing the hydraulic lines to be exposed to excessive heat.

  Jayco, inc. (jayco) is recalling certain 2014-2019 precept, 2016-2019 alante and 2019 precept prestige motorhomes built on a ford f53 chassis. The blower motor electrical circuit may be missing the 25amp fuse, possibly resulting in overheating of the wiring.

• Recall 110470 [USA]: A seat belt that is not properly anchored to the vehicle may not restrain the occupant in a crash, increasing their risk of injury.
  Jayco inc. (jayco) is recalling certain model year 2016 alante motorhomes manufactured november 3, 2015, to november 23, 2015. The affected vehicles have forward and rearward facing dinette seats whose seat belts may not have the proper plate to anchor the seat belt brackets. This can allow the seat belt end to detach from the vehicle in the event of a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 210, "seat belt assembly anchorages."

• Recall 2016007 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
  Certain motorhomes may fail to conform to canada motor vehicle safety standard 210 – seat belt anchorages. The seatbelts for the forward and rear facing dinette seats may have been installed with an incorrect attachment plate and may therefore fail to meet the attachment strength requirements of the standard. This could result in seat belts detaching from the vehicle in a crash, thereby failing to properly restrain occupants during a crash, and increasing the risk of injury. Correction: dealers will install a new back plate to each seat belt bracket (2 per seat) with new bolts and fasteners. Note: owners are advised not to sit in either of the dinette booth seats while the motor home is moving until the recall remedy has been performed on all four seat belts.

• Recall 2019505 [Canada]: Other
  Issue: on certain motorhomes, a heat shield was not installed over the exhaust system. This could cause the hydraulic lines for the levelling system to overheat and melt. If this happens, hydraulic oil could leak onto the exhaust system. Safety risk: an oil leak onto a hot exhaust system could cause a fire. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect the hydraulic lines of the levelling system. The lines will be replaced, if required, and a heat shield will be installed.

• Recall 2019167 [Canada]: Electrical
  Issue: on certain motorhomes, the dash blower motor does not have proper fuse protection. As a result, an electrical overload or short circuit could cause the wiring to overheat. Safety risk: wiring that overheats could create a risk of a fire. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorhome to a dealer to install a fuse for the dash blower. A 25 ampere fuse will be installed in position 23 in the power distribution box. Dealers will also install a label in the fuse box noting "fuse position 23 max. 25 a".

• Recall 2017004 [Canada]: Structure
  On certain motorhomes, the wiring for the entrance step may have been installed incorrectly and it is possible that the step could retract on its own. If the step were to retract, an occupant exiting the motorhome could fall, increasing the risk of injury. Correction: dealers will inspect the entrance step for correct wiring. If the wiring is found under the door threshold, it will be removed and the step will be rewired with improved wiring routing.

• Recall 2016385 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
  On certain motorhomes, the driver and front passenger seat base nuts could loosen over time due to the seat(s) swivelling. This could cause the seat(s) to detach from the seat base, which if the vehicle were in motion, could result in the operator potentially losing control of the motorhome, which could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will install a jam nut to the top of the seat base nut on each affected seat and ensure they are properly torqued.

This jayco motor home has multiple electrical defects. We absolutely believe it to be a fire hazard, and do not feel safe driving or camping in it. After working with a roadside assistance tech over the phone for 1 1/2 hours, we determined the fuse box was labeled incorrectly. I was instructed to replace a 30 amp fuse, which i did multiple times during the course of our trip. Finally, when it arced during a change, we called to have someone come out. He replaced it and left extra fuses for the next failure. I have the burned fuse that caused the arc. The repairman said before leaving, "it is not right". Following are some of the problems caused by the electrical system. The bunk that lowers for use, and raises to allow access to the driver's seat works intermittently. A harness encloses the electrical wires to move the bunk. When used, it jerks violently and loudly grates and squeals, as if the wires are rubbing against each other. Sparks were seen near this harness. If the bunk won't come down for use, it is unusable; if it won't raise, the coach is not drivable. Two slides are electrically moved in for driving and out for more room when camping, also work intermittently. We were unable to drive when they would not come in. All tail lights did not work. Two reading lights were either hanging by the wiring or loose, others did not work at all. The dash lights, as well as the sidelights & parking lights did not work. The electrical air conditioner did not work correctly. The large, one piece windshield snapped from a stress break. A defective tire was replaced to address violent vibration.
