The battery ran down on the chassis and was recharged. The warning lights in the instrument cluster did not come on, however, the engine started easily. Turned the engine off restarted it several times but the warning lights did not come on. All other lights came on and the illumination for the instrument cluster was lighted when the main light switch was turned on but no warning lights, oil, gas, tach, speedometer, battery condition, seat belt warning, nothing. The motor home sat for several days and when started again the warning light all came on. Prepared to go on a trip went out to start the camper no warning lights. Drove from ashland to dodge city alternator was not charging the battery but with the coach generator on the battery was charged at about 12.7 volts. Just outside of dodge city the lights came on and remained on for the rest of the trip to garden and the burtus ford dealer who ran tests and found nothing wrong changed a fuse under the dash. Returned to ashland with no problem return. The problem was not fixed. The warning lights would go off and on for no apparent reason. Sometimes they would stay on for the whole trip, other times they would go out and stay out. Jayco would not make any effort to find the problem saying it was fords problem and ford dealers in the area could not seem to find out what was happening. I have tried to trace the problem but to know avail. It would seem that an instrument panel microprocessor is some how involved. I have traced it to a possible fuse diode but cannot find a replacement part for it. The only way i can go on a trip is to use my gsr a speedometer and run the coach generator to keep the battery charged. So far the headlights and turn signals continue to work but the headlights blink of for a few moments and make it very difficult to drive at night. There have been some recalls on the workhorse chassis involving faulty microprocessors and i wonder if i have missed a recall somewhere. *tr

While prepping my 2004 jayco grayhawk 24ss class c motorhome for our next trip i discovered that the fuel line feeding the generator is leaking. It leaks while the generator is running and for a while afterward, i guess until vacuum stops it. What was especially scary is that the hose runs above and parallel to the generator exhaust pipe so the gas leaks onto the pipe. The rubber fuel line was scuffed and had a puncture about a foot upstream from the generator connection. My guess is that a piece of highway debris hit it while we were coming back from our previous trip. That fuel line is fairly exposed beneath the motorhome and is just soft rubber. I hate to imagine what might have happened if we had run the generator for some time with it leaking-- the exhaust gets pretty hot. I took it in to a generator repair shop this morning -my jayco dealer doesn't work on anything gasoline, though they will pay for it under warranty. I asked that the fuel line be replaced with a hose that has a metal braid outer cover. The shop said they would try to find something like that for me. Seems jayco, and probably other manufacturers too, could do a better job protecting potetially dangerous parts underneath their motorhomes.
