• Recall 127509 [USA]: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
  Jayco, inc. (jayco) is recalling various 2002-2016 recreational vehicles equipped with kidde plastic-handle or push button 'pindicator' fire extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.Nhtsa.Gov/odi/rcl/2017/rmisc-17v746-9524.Pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable.   jayco will notify owners, instructing them to contact kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on january 15, 2018. • Recall 95969 [USA]: An improper electrical connection at the buss bar could lead to overheating and melting of the transfer switch, increasing the risk of a fire, injury or death.
  Jayco is recalling certain model year 2007 greyhawk class c motorhomes; model year 2008 and 2010 seneca class c motorhomes; model year 2009 and 2011 eagle fifth-wheel; 2010 recon fifth-wheel; and model year 2008-2010 designer fifth wheel vehicles manufactured from june 15, 2006, through august 13, 2010 for an improper electrical connection at the buss bar on the iota-brand transfer switches installed in the vehicles.
  jayco will notify owners, and dealers will replace the transfer switch, free of charge. The safety recall began on august 31, 2012. Owners may contact jayco at 1-800-283-8267.

• Recall 81024 [USA]: If the copper tube cracked, pressurized lp gas may escape into the compartment. this condition, if not addressed, may result in a fire, injury or death.
  Jayco is recalling 1,265 my 2005-2008 seneca '35gs' and my 2007-2008 greyhawk '33ds' and '32ss' motor homes. The conduit clamp on the copper liquid propane (lp) tube feeding the slide-0ut is incorrectly placed which may allow the copper tube to bend and possibly leak with the movement of the slide-out.
  dealers will relocate the conduit clamp and add a rubber grommet to allow adhesion. The recall began on may 26, 2008. Owners may contact jayco at 1-574-825-5861.

  On certain vehicles equipped with kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by kidde directly.   On certain motorhomes and fifth wheel trailers, an incorrect electrical connection at the transfer switch buss bar could cause the transfer switch to overheat and melt. • Recall 2008156 [Canada]: Fuel supply
  On certain motorhomes, the copper lp tube feeding the slide-out room may have been incorrectly routed during vehicle assembly. This tube may bend and become damaged as a result of slide-out movement. A propane leak, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire or an explosion, which could cause property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: dealers will relocate the conduit clamp.

Both outlets in the kitchen area, the outlet in the bathroom, and the refrigerator have not been working for a long time. We have to run extension cords from other areas of the rv, but we can not use the refrigerator at all. It doesn't even work with an extension cord. The refrigerator is a norcold.

While camping in a campsite and connected to shore power the iota 50 amp automatic transfer switch (ats) shorted and caught fire. There was smoke in the cabin and flames coming from the ats which extinguished themselves before the fire extinguisher could be retrieved from the front of the cabin. *js the resulting damage besides the ats also included mainline wiring to the shore power connection and the main circuit panel. Costs of repair exceeded $1,000. This the second time a fire has occurred on an iota 50 amp ats in this particular vehicle previously being reported in oct 2010. The placement of the unit is directly underneath a wardrobe in the bedroom and within inches of the bottom drawer. This is an extremely dangerous situation and a product that has an obvious history of shorts and fires. We were fortunate that serious injuries were avoided. *js

2007 jayco greyhawk 33ds there is evidence of an electrical fire in the transfer switch for the main cabin that damaged the transfer switch, left residue and caused an electrical service failure to the front of the cabin while operating on the on-board generator. This occurred over a period of two years until a total failure ceased operations. The transfer switch was ultimately replaced by a service dealer and the failed unit is in my possession. The service technician at the dealer indicated that it was most likely an issue with one of the set screws that had not been secured properly during manufacture. I have contacted jayco for reimbursement as of today. My concern is that this fire would have obviously occurred while the unit was occupied. I feel that i am fortunate that a more serious event had not occurred and that the remainder of the rv is still intact. I can provide photos and the physical unit if required. *tr
