  • Recall 127566 [USA]: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
    Jayco, inc. (jayco) is recalling various 2002-2016 recreational vehicles equipped with kidde plastic-handle or push button 'pindicator' fire extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.Nhtsa.Gov/odi/rcl/2017/rmisc-17v746-9524.Pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable.     jayco will notify owners, instructing them to contact kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on january 15, 2018.   • Recall 137007 [USA]: In the event of an electrical short, the unprotected circuit increases the risk of a fire.
    Jayco, inc. (jayco) is recalling certain 2016-2018 jay flight slx recreational trailers equipped with a 35 amp power converter. The electrical circuit from the battery does not have overcurrent protection such as a fuse or circuit breaker.
    jayco will notify owners, and dealers will install a fuse harness assembly with a circuit breaker for overcurrent protection, free of charge. The recall began on december 20, 2017. Owners may contact jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901362.

  • Recall 120578 [USA]: A loss of trailer brakes may lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle and cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
    Jayco, inc. (jayco) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 jay feather, jay flight, jay flight slx, eagle, white hawk, and octane travel trailers manufactured january 5, 2016, to july 18, 2016, equipped with a sway command anti-sway system. When connected to certain tow vehicles that have an integrated brake controller, and after the anti-sway system has applied the trailer brakes in response to a sway event, the trailer brakes may no longer function to slow or stop the trailer.

  • Recall 116375 [USA]: If the propane tank detaches from the trailer, there is an increased risk of a crash.
    Jayco, inc. (jayco) is recalling certain 2016 jay flight slx recreational trailers manufactured march 3, 2016, to april 20, 2016. The bolts that secure the propane tank to the trailer's a-frame may be missing lock washers, allowing the propane tank to loosen and detach from the vehicle.
    jayco has notified owners, and dealers will install the lock washers to the two bolts that secure the propane tank to the a-frame, free of charge. The recall began on may 17, 2016. Owners may contact jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901298.

  • Recall 2016380 [Canada]: Brakes
    On certain travel trailers equipped with sway command, if the tow vehicles is equipped with a factory integrated brake controller, the operator could lose trailer brakes during a sway event due to a compatibility issue. The loss of trailer brakes could increase stopping distances and affect vehicle stability which could result in a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will remove the sway command system.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 jayco jay flight. The contact stated that the vehicle made an abnormal noise. Upon inspection, the contact noticed flames coming from the roof of the camper. The fire department was contacted and extinguished the flames. The fire inspector informed the contact that the area behind the refrigerator was where the fire originated; however, it was not determined if it was an electrical fire or a fire caused by propane. The vehicle was not towed and had not yet been deemed destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. There were no injuries. The failure mileage was not provided.

The wiring underneath the trailer was installed without any covering and placed directly on top of the sharp edges of the cross members. After the first use the wire insulation became damaged and the electrical system began shorting out.
