NHTSA Mandated Recalls
  • Recall 77361 [USA]: In the event of a vehicle crash, the electrical fuel pump may not receive a crash signal that is required for the fuel pump to disconnect and prevent future fuel delivery as designed.
Mercedes-benz is recalling my 2006-2008 m-class, r-class, my 2005-2009 slk-class, my 2005-2008 c-class, my 2003-2004 and 2006-2008 clk-class, my 2003-2008 e-class, my 2004 and 2008 cl-class, my 2008 cls-class, my 2004 and 2007-2008 s-class, my 2003 g-class, and my 2003-2004, 2006 and 2009 sl-class vehicles. A software calibration number (scn) coding received on the affected vehicles during a recent workshop visit was incorrect. Depending on the model year and model affected, the results of an incorrect scn coding can affect a number of vehicle safety and emission functions including the following types of functions: (1) the fuel gauge readings may be incorrect; (2) a stuck fuel-level sensor may not be displayed in the instrument cluster; (3) the obd system may cause the check engine light to illuminate incorrectly; and, (4) the speedometer may be out of tolerance.
dealers will recode the scn free of charge. The recall began on august 30, 2008. Owners may contact mercedes-benz at 1-800-367-6372.
mercedes-benz recall no. 2008 070001.Customers may contact the national highway traffic safety administration's vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (tty: 1-800-424-9153); or go to http://www.Safercar.Gov.

  • Recall 75087 [USA]: When this happens, the vehicle may lose power rather than enter a limp-home mode. in addition, the vehicle cannot be restarted after failure of the electrical connection in the sensor, increasing the risk of a crash.
On certain passenger vehicles equipped with diesel engines, the crankshaft sensor could fail due to separation of bond wires from the lead frame in the sensor. This results in an interruption in the electrical connection in the chip housing of the sensor.
dealers will replace the crankshaft sensor. The recall began on february 4, 2008. Owners may contact mercedes-benz at 1-800-367-6372.

  • Recall R/2008/147 [UK]: Engine emergency shut off on board diagnosis or tank/speedo signal may be affected
Possibility of transfer of incorrect control unit software which could affect engine shut off control in an emergency situation or the on board diagnosis system or tank/speedometer signal
recall affected vehicles and replace sam control unit

  • Recall R/2017/124 [UK]: Faulty control unit may cause vehicle to perform outside specification
Where a control unit coding was updated in a workshop between 3 december 2016 and 5 december 2016 the coding may not correspond to the specification and may trigger unplanned action in the vehicle. The safety and emissions systems may not react as design intent.
recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and update the software in the corresponding control units.

  • Recall R/2008/149 [UK]: Engine could lose power.
The electrical connection in the interior of the crankshaft sensor's chip housing may be interrupted which may result in loss of power and the inability to restart engine
recall affected vehicles and replace crankshaft sensor

  • Recall R/2012/111 [UK]: Rear-axle suspension level sensor may break
On e class vehicles without airmatic blocking of the level sensor linkage may occur. In extreme cases this may lead to breakage of the level sensor linkage. The linkage is used to measure the vehicle level via a sensor. If the linkage breaks it is possible the level sensor constantly records a vehicle level that is too low. This leads to a contact pressure rise in both air spring bellows and to hardening of the rear-axle suspension causing a noticeable loss in comfort.
replace the level sensor linkage on these vehicles as a precautionary measure.

  • Recall R/2019/458 [UK]: The bonding between the glass panel and the sliding roof frame may not meet specifications
The bonding between the glass panel and the sliding roof frame might not meet specifications
check the glass panel bonding on the affected vehicles and replace the sliding roof if necessary

  • Recall R/2021/277 [UK]: The driver's air bag may have a chemical change to its propellant over time
The driver's airbag may have a chemical change to its propellant over time.
    replace the driver?S airbag.

  • Recall R/2021/358 [UK]: Takata airbag might not deploy as specified
Certain climatic conditions may cause a chemical change to the airbag propellants?Over time.?
    replace the driver and?Passenger airbags.?

  • Recall 2021478 [Canada]: Structure
Issue: this recall is for certain vehicles inspected under mercedes-benz recall 7891003 (transport canada recall 2019-668) that require a second inspection. On certain vehicles, the sunroof glass may not be properly attached to the sliding roof frame. Over time, the glass can become loose and could separate from the vehicle. Note: this recall affects 2006 and 2007 models originally equipped with a sunroof. Additionally, some 2001-2011 models may have had an affected sunroof installed during a repair. Safety risk: a sunroof that detaches from the vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: mercedes-benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the bonding of the sunroof glass. Dealers will replace the sliding roof, if necessary.

  • Recall 2012176 [Canada]: Suspension
On certain e-class wagons, the load levelling rear suspension could malfunction. This could trigger a continuous attempt to increase the pressure in the air bellows, which can lead to uncomfortable and stiff suspension characteristics. Ultimately, this could cause a loss of air pressure in the bellows, which could result in poor vehicle handling characteristics, increasing the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will replace the level control system connecting rod with an updated version.

  • Recall 2008242 [Canada]: Other
Certain vehicles may have been programmed with incorrect software calibration data during the manufacturing process. This could affect various functions such as: the electric fuel pump may not receive a signal which, in case of a crash, may prevent the fuel pump from disconnecting as designed; the maximum speed limiter may not be activated; the fuel gauge readings may be incorrect; a stuck fuel-level sensor may not be displayed in the instrument cluster; the speedometer may be out of tolerance which, as a result, may indicate inaccurate vehicle speed; the on-board diagnostic (obd) system may reduce the emission level applicable to the vehicle, causing the check engine light to illuminate incorrectly. Correction: dealers will reprogram the electronic control module.

  • Recall 2007418 [Canada]: Engine
On certain diesel powered e320, gl320, ml320 and r320 vehicles, the crankshaft sensor may fail, causing the engine to stall. Engine stalling would result in lost propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: dealers will replace the crankshaft sensor.
