Mercury mariner. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle transmission malfunction. *smd the consumer stated the transmission would occasionally skip a gear and go to the next highest gear. The dealer was unable to duplicate the consumers concern. The consumer stated the most recent occurrence, was when he slowed down to stop for a deer in the road, and the engine suddenly surged to 5000 rpm and the vehicle shot forward. He applied the brake and the transmission shifted down with a loud sound. A diagnoses revealed a dirty transmission filter caused the problem. The consumer stated the changing of the transmission filer did not resolve the problem.

Prior to recall notification, consumer was driving and she heard a snap and a clunk noise and vehicle became impossible to steer, due to the engine mounts breaking, consumer received another recall notification and then contacted ford who then advised her that bill was never submitted, consumer is seeking reimbursement for the repairs as well as towing cost.*et
