• Recall 130024 [USA]: The melted voltage regulator can increase the risk of a fire. the loss of a tail light can increase the risk of a crash.
  Polaris industries (polaris) is recalling certain 2015-2016 polaris slingshot, slingshot sl and slingshot sl le motorcycles equipped with a backup camera. The back-up camera may fail internally, possibly melting the voltage regulator and blowing the fuse for that circuit, thereby preventing the taillight from functioning properly. • Recall 134413 [USA]: If the seat belt buckle or seat back detach from the seat base, there would be an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash. if the driver's seat unexpectedly moves, it can cause the driver to lose control of the motorcycle, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Polaris industries, inc. (polaris) is recalling all 2015-2018 polaris slingshot motorcycles. The driver-seat and passenger-seat seat belt and seat back anchoring bracket may have been improperly welded. Additionally, differences in the seat assembly may prevent proper latching of the seat slider, allowing the driver's seat to move unexpectedly.
  polaris will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the seat belt bracket and seat back welds, and the seat slider latching function. If the weld is missing or incomplete, or if the slider doesn't latch properly, the seat bases will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began on april 16, 2018.   1. It is possible during production the brake pressure switch (brake light switch) may have been over torqued. This could result in a loss of brake fluid and subsequent reduction in braking performance which could cause a collision. 2. It is possible during production the fuel pipe may have been placed to close too the hood which resulted in insufficient clearance between the two. This could result in the abrasion of the fuel pipe which could leak. If this happens in the presence of an ignition source there will be a risk of fire. 3. It has been identified that the suspension swinging arm may not have been manufactured to the correct specification which affects its strength and could cause it to fail. If this occurs the directional control of the machine could be affected.

  Issue: on certain vehicles, the terminals of the battery fuse block could be damaged during normal driving. This can result in a loss of forward and rear lighting, a loss of gauges, and a loss of power steering assist. Safety risk: a loss of forward lighting would reduce visibility. A loss of rear lighting could make the vehicle less visible and cause a following driver to not recognize that a vehicle ahead is braking. A loss of power steering assist could make the vehicle difficult to steer. These failures could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: polaris will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect the battery fuse block terminals and relocate the 50-a chassis fuse.

• Recall 2019136 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
  Issue: on certain vehicles, the seat base may have been assembled improperly. This could cause the seat belt buckle to detach or cause the seat slider not to latch properly. This could result in unexpected movement of the seat or seat back. Safety risk: if the seat moves while driving, vehicle control could be affected. In a crash, a seat that moves or a seat belt that separates could increase the risk of injury. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the seat belt bracket and the seat slider latch inspected. If an incomplete or missing weld is found, or if a slider does not latch properly, the seat base will be replaced. Note: this supersedes recall 2018-144. Vehicles repaired under the previous recall do not require repair under this recall.

  On certain vehicles which had a rear swing arm previously replaced under recall t-16-06 (transport canada no. 2016-520), the swing arm may have been installed without two dust plug grommets. Without dust plug grommets, debris could contaminate the rear wheel speed sensor, which could affect abs and traction/stability control functions, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will inspect for the presence of the grommets, and install if found missing. Note: if the speed sensor were to become inoperative, abs and traction/stability control dash lights would illuminate.

  Certain vehicles may not comply with canada motor vehicle safety standard (cmvss) 208 - occupant protection in frontal impacts. The vehicle fails to provide an audible warning if the driver's seatbelt is not buckled, contrary to the requirements of the standard. This could increase the risk that the driver remain unbelted, increasing the risk of injury in a crash. Correction: dealers will install a newly designed jumper harness which included the required seatbelt chime.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 polaris slingshot. While riding at various speeds, the rpms suddenly revved high and the vehicle accelerated on its own. The vehicle was taken to cycle sports center (4001 n. John young pkwy, orlando, fl) where the failure was confirmed, but the cause could not be determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 10,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 polaris slingshot. While the contact was attempting to exit the vehicle, the reservoir seat belt latch failed to release. The failure occurred without warning. A bystander assisted and cut the contact out of the seat belt with scissors. The contact sprayed the base of the seat belt with lubrication before driving. The vehicle was taken to loewer powersports & equipment (5909 coliseum blvd, alexandria, la 71303, (318) 487-9495) where it was diagnosed that the reservoir seat belt latch was previously replaced. The motorcycle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,500. The vin was unknown.

2 large rear metal angle reflectors attached with double sided tape 1 detached from body thankfully while sitting at a red light. Metal angles are not secured to frame adequately. Could cause danger to motorist behind vehicle.

During normal driving on the highway day/night, the polaris slingshot electrical system would fail and lost of all lighting visibility for myself and others driving behind me would randomly happen making me a safety hazard on the road. The rear wiring harness fuse box burns out randomly getting very hot and sparking while driving and burning out the plastic on the fuse box.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 polaris slingshot. While driving approximately 65 mph, the throttle lost power. The vehicle was taken to dhy motorsports (1300 clements bridge rd, township, nj 08096, 856-848-8500) where it was diagnosed that a pin in the harness was not connecting to the throttle, which caused the throttle failure. The vehicle was repaired. A couple of days later, while driving approximately 65 mph, the brakes failed and the vehicle struck a deer. The front end of the slingshot was smashed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. A police report was not filed and no injuries were reported. The contact called the dealer back and was informed to call the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the failure would be investigated and possibly repaired, if the insurance company was not notified. The failure was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 5,900.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 polaris slingshot. When the vehicle was taken in for routine maintenance, the technician stated that the universal coupling was loose. The yoke needed replacement as metal flakes were in the gear box. The contact stated that the independent mechanic was able to tighten the brackets, but the bolts fractured. The contact stated that the york, universal coupling, and gear box were not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a polaris dealer as the local dealer was sold. The closet dealer was almost 300 miles away. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact was informed to take the vehicle to a polaris dealer for repairs because the manufacturer would not send parts to a non-authorized polaris dealer. The contact mentioned that the warranty would expire in february of 2018. The failure mileage was 10,407. *tt *tr

Vehicle has an "esp" warning light on dash. Vehicle has been displaying this "esp" warning light at various times and under various conditions since april 25, 2017. "esp" warning light will sometimes reset and go out after a restart and at other times while driving. "esp" warning light will come on for no apparent reason. Normal 40 mph driving on straight roads or backing out of the garage. It is unknown whether there is an issue with anything this "esp" warning light is controlled from. Local dealer has inspected the vehicle with the "esp" warning light on and could not find a reason for the light to activated. No repairs were effected that would prevent this "esp" warning light from returning.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 poralis slingshot. The contact stated that while making a right turn and the steering wheel suddenly malfunctioned and seized causing the driver to loose control and crash into a second vehicle. During the incident, the contact sustained an injured hip that did not require medical attention. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (dealer information was unavailable) who diagnosed that the swing arm was faulty. The swing arm was replaced but the failure continued to occur. In addition, the brake light remained illuminated at all times while operating the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 1,500.
