Tl* the contact owns a 2016 polaris slingshot. While riding at various speeds, the rpms suddenly revved high and the vehicle accelerated on its own. The vehicle was taken to cycle sports center (4001 n. John young pkwy, orlando, fl) where the failure was confirmed, but the cause could not be determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 10,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 polaris slingshot. While the contact was attempting to exit the vehicle, the reservoir seat belt latch failed to release. The failure occurred without warning. A bystander assisted and cut the contact out of the seat belt with scissors. The contact sprayed the base of the seat belt with lubrication before driving. The vehicle was taken to loewer powersports & equipment (5909 coliseum blvd, alexandria, la 71303, (318) 487-9495) where it was diagnosed that the reservoir seat belt latch was previously replaced. The motorcycle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,500. The vin was unknown.

During normal driving on the highway day/night, the polaris slingshot electrical system would fail and lost of all lighting visibility for myself and others driving behind me would randomly happen making me a safety hazard on the road. The rear wiring harness fuse box burns out randomly getting very hot and sparking while driving and burning out the plastic on the fuse box.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 polaris slingshot. While driving approximately 65 mph, the throttle lost power. The vehicle was taken to dhy motorsports (1300 clements bridge rd, township, nj 08096, 856-848-8500) where it was diagnosed that a pin in the harness was not connecting to the throttle, which caused the throttle failure. The vehicle was repaired. A couple of days later, while driving approximately 65 mph, the brakes failed and the vehicle struck a deer. The front end of the slingshot was smashed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. A police report was not filed and no injuries were reported. The contact called the dealer back and was informed to call the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the failure would be investigated and possibly repaired, if the insurance company was not notified. The failure was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 5,900.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 polaris slingshot. When the vehicle was taken in for routine maintenance, the technician stated that the universal coupling was loose. The yoke needed replacement as metal flakes were in the gear box. The contact stated that the independent mechanic was able to tighten the brackets, but the bolts fractured. The contact stated that the york, universal coupling, and gear box were not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a polaris dealer as the local dealer was sold. The closet dealer was almost 300 miles away. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact was informed to take the vehicle to a polaris dealer for repairs because the manufacturer would not send parts to a non-authorized polaris dealer. The contact mentioned that the warranty would expire in february of 2018. The failure mileage was 10,407. *tt *tr

Vehicle has an "esp" warning light on dash. Vehicle has been displaying this "esp" warning light at various times and under various conditions since april 25, 2017. "esp" warning light will sometimes reset and go out after a restart and at other times while driving. "esp" warning light will come on for no apparent reason. Normal 40 mph driving on straight roads or backing out of the garage. It is unknown whether there is an issue with anything this "esp" warning light is controlled from. Local dealer has inspected the vehicle with the "esp" warning light on and could not find a reason for the light to activated. No repairs were effected that would prevent this "esp" warning light from returning.

The contact stated that while making a right turn and the steering wheel suddenly malfunctioned and seized causing the driver to loose control and crash into a second vehicle. During the incident, the contact sustained an injured hip that did not require medical attention. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (dealer information was unavailable) who diagnosed that the swing arm was faulty. The swing arm was replaced but the failure continued to occur. In addition, the brake light remained illuminated at all times while operating the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 1,500.
