• Recall 77858 [USA]: Extended operation of a leaking cooling unit could lead to a fire from gas which might escape.
  Winnebago is recalling my 1999-2002 ultimate advantage, ultimate freedom, my 1999-2001 chieftain, my 2000-2001 brave, my 2001 journey my 2000 minnie winnie, my 2000-2002 itasca horizon, my 1999 suncruiser, my 2001 sunflyer, and my 2000 sunrise motor homes equipped with norcold refrigerators. A fatigue failure in the section of the cooling unit which contains the refrigerant could allow the liquid solution to slowly leak.
  winnebago is working with norcold to repair these refrigerators. Norcold will provide thermal switch kits to owners along with the necessary forms and instructions. The manufacturer has not yet provided an owner notification schedule for this campaign. Owners may contact norcold at 1-800-767-9101 or winnebago at 1-641-585-3535.

• Recall 4585 [USA]: Serious injury or death could occur if the vehicle occupant is not properly restrained.
  Vehicle description: class a motor homes equipped with safety belt assemblies built by am-safe. On some seat belts, the buckle and connector may unlatch during a collision.
  dealers will inspect the lap belts and, if necessary, replace it with a new belt assembly. Owner notification began may 25, 2001.   On certain vehicles, the lap belt buckles may have damaged or deformed areas on the pawl in the buckle. The deformation is such that during engagement, the connector may be unable to transfer the load to the buckle. In some cases, this can cause the buckle to unlatch and leave the occupant unrestrained. Correction: buckles will be inspected and replaced if necessary.

  On certain motorhomes equipped with a norcold inc. Refrigerator, a fatigue crack in the section of the cooling unit which contains the refrigerant could allow the liquid solution to slowly leak. If a leak occurs and the refrigerator continues to be operated after solution circulation has ceased, hydrogen gas may be expelled and can be ignited. This could result in a fire, causing property damage, personal injury, or death. Correction: dealers will replace the refrigerators cooling unit.

Wiring harness loose, came in contact with exhaust causing short and a complete shutdown of pcm (blown fuse) with resultant shutdown of engine computer and engine in the middle of traffic. In both cases, was able to pull to side of roadway but were traffic heavier, would have been stalled in traffic lane. I'm only advising of this in case others have experienced it and it is the result of a general defect in the vehicle that may be dangerous.

Firestone, p225/75r16, dot vdil-1x1439; while driving 65 mph inner right tire tread separated, that same day, the outer right tire tread separated. Original equipment.*ak consumer states that the design is inadequate for the advertised sleeping capacity of 7 and the ability to tow up to 3500 pounds. *slc

Driving down the road at 60 mph, the bunk window over cab shattered and broke out. We are not sure if anything hit it or not. After contacting the manufacturer we were told this window does not require safety glass in it. We feel very lucky that we had the curtain closed as this stopped most of the flying glass. We feel if the curtain would have been open there would have been serious injuries with flying glass. We feel this window should be required to have safety glass in it.*ak

I purchased a 2000 winnebago minnie winnie with firestone steeltex r4 tires size 225/75r16. On 07/11/01 i had a sidewall blowout on a rear tire which caused $800.00 in damages to my motorhome. That particular tire had 8200 miles on it. I replaced the tire with the spare, which had never touched the ground, it also sustained a sidewall blowout on 07/30/01 after only 300 miles. Air pressure was correct in all tires prior to travel. No puncture holes were observed in either tire. I have had these tires checked by an independent who stated the tires were faulty. This is an extremely dangerous situation. I am now seeking to have firestone replace all these tires. *ak (tiresize: 225/75r16)

Front glass panel about the driver cab exploded scattering glass pieces through out the interior of the vehicle. Replaced the glass. The glass was 1/8" temperred

Generator exploded. Dealer has inspected vehicle.*ak

Pe-00-040; original equipment on a 2000, winnebago, minnie winnie, tire size lt22575r16 m s, dot number not available, tires have 9 hundred miles on them. Consumer noticed that driver's side outter dual tire has developed cracks just below the sidewall, right on the side. Cracks were 3 inches long. Consumer has contacted the dealer. *ak the cracks/cuts appear 2 backwards j's completely parallel to each other. The tire was not on recall but the dealer reimbursed the customer. *yh

Supporting chassis frame revealed a condition whereby the manufacturer has cut-out a prot of the structural cross member spanning between the two mainframe member. The cut fram is 3" wide x 4" deep "v" shape abotu 3 1/2 ft. Long.
