SB-10052183-1397 BULLETIN NUMBER: SB13-J-001 IMPORTANT SERVICE INFORMATION FOR: SERVICE MANAGER SERVICE ADVISOR TECHNICIAN PARTS DEPARTMENT WARRANTY PERSONNEL ISSUE DATE: APRIL 2013 GROUP: ENGINE CRACKED TURBOCHARGER VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE (VSV) VACUUM HOSE RELATED DTCs: P0299, P2263, P2456, P2413 AFFECTED VEHICLES • 2011-2012MY Isuzu N-Series Equipped with 3.0L 4JJ1 Diesel Engine SERVICE INFORMATION CONDITION Some customers may experience an illuminated Check Engine Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) and reduced engine power mode. Technician diagnosis may identify the following DTCs: P0299, P2263, P2456, and/or P2413 stored in the ECM. CAUSE The vacuum hose for the Turbocharger Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV) may crack at the clip location shown in Figure 1. CORRECTION If the above cause is found, follow the service procedure in this bulletin to replace the vacuum hose assembly. NOTE: Do not use bulk hose material for the countermeasure. The new hose assembly has been redesigned to offer additional reinforcement. Figure 1 – Broken Vacuum Hose Location SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. Remove the vacuum hose assembly below in the following order: a. Vacuum Supply Pipe b. EGR Bypass Vacuum Switch Valve (VSV) c. Retaining Clip d. Hose with Retaining Clip e. Clip f. The new hose assembly has been redesigned to offer additional reinforcement. 2. Install the replacement hose in the following order: a. Vacuum Supply Pipe NOTE: To help ease installation, spray the hose with soapy water. b. EGR Bypass VSV c. Retaining Clip d. Hose with Retaining Clip e. Clip f. Turbo Charger Actuator g. This bulletin is being updated to revise service information. Please discard SB13-J-001.
