SB-10053488-6740 BULLETIN NUMBER: IB13-E-002 IMPORTANT SERVICE INFORMATION FOR: SERVICE MANAGER SERVICE ADVISOR TECHNICIAN PARTS DEPARTMENT WARRANTY PERSONNEL ISSUE DATE: JULY 2013 GROUP: FRAME, SUSPENSION, STEERING, WHEELS & TIRES KINGPIN LOWER CAP INSTALLATION AFFECTED VEHICLES All Isuzu N-Series (including Stripped Chassis) All Chevrolet/GMC W-Series INFORMATION Isuzu recommends adding Three Bond 1215 (Isuzu Part Number 2-90067-710-0 or equivalent) when installing the kingpin sealing plug to ensure plug seal and retention. When Replacing The Kingpin Assembly Before installing the kingpin sealing plug in the bottom of the knuckle apply Three Bond 1215 (Isuzu Part Number 2-90067-710-0 or equivalent) to the sealing plug. Use a suitable bar and hammer to drive the plug into place as shown in Figure 1 below. Figure 1 – Kingpin Assembly When Replacing The Kingpin Sealing Plug Only Note: Prior to servicing the kingpins, be sure to reference information bulletin IB13-E-001 Front Axle Kingpin Maintenance and Lubrication Reminder. Before installing the kingpin sealing plug in the bottom of the knuckle, remove any moisture, dirt or oil and then apply Three Bond 1215 (Isuzu Part Number 2-90067-710-0 or equivalent) to the sealing plug. Use a suitable bar and hammer to drive the plug into place. After the sealing plug installation, grease the kingpin. If excessive pressure is required when applying grease, the kingpin may be corroded or contaminated and require additional service.
