Date Group No. Release Page 1.2015 861 006 02 1(8) Bumper, Replacement MRU FSB 861-006, Bumper, Replacement (January 2015) The current front bumper on some MACK MRU trucks built between 10/22/2007 and 11/14/ 2014 may experience twisting and warping when mounted with single support struts at each end of the bumper. To prevent warping and twisting of the front bumper, a more robust bumper design will replace the current bumper (part number 25165882, or 25165881). Additionally, new bumper brackets and mounting hardware will be used install the new front bumper. See the table below for required parts. Note: This bulletin does not apply to MACK Trucks Australia. If you are not properly trained and certified in this procedure, ask your supervisor for training before you perform it. NOTE: Information is subject to change without notice. However, key components addressed in this information are represented as accurately as possible. 1 Park the vehicle on a flat and level surface. 2 Apply the parking brake. 3 Place the transmission in neutral or park. 4 Install the wheel chocks. WARNING Heavy component, exercise caution when handling the bumper. Assistance is required. With assistance, remove the fasteners securing the bumper to the chassis and support brackets. With assistance, remove the bumper. W8094111 3 Remove the fasteners securing the bumper support brackets to chassis on both sides. Note: Discard the bumper to chassis support brackets. Field Service Bulletin Date 1.2015 Group No. Release 861 006 02 4 Using the stored fasteners, reinstall the fasteners in the chassis as shown below. 5 Tighten the fasteners to 271 ± 67 Nm (200 ± 50 ft-lb). W8094113 6 WARNING Heavy component, exercise caution when handling the bumper. Assistance is required. With assistance, position the replacement bumper and install the upper center mounting fasteners and flat washers to support the bumper. Note: Do not install the hex nuts and washers on the other side of the bumper at his time. W8094114 Page 5(8) Mack Trucks, Inc. Field Service Bulletin Date 1.2015 Group No. Release 861 006 02 7 Position the new chassis to bumper support brackets on both ends and loosely install the upper and lower center mounting fasteners. 8 Position the new bumper support brackets on both ends and loosely install all fasteners. W8094115 9 Tighten all of the bumper fasteners to specification. See the table below for torque specifications.
