On some MACK Trucks built between August 20, 2012 and October 1, 2012 may experience
the following scenario. When the cruise control is deactivated by the foot brake, the engine
brake will not function until the engine brake is manually turned Off and then back ON. If this
issue is encountered the following can be done to correct the functionality.
Repair Procedure
You must read and understand the precautions and guidelines in Service Information,
group 30, "General Safety Practices, Electrical and Electronics" before performing this
procedure. If you are not properly trained and certified in this procedure, ask your
supervisor for training before you perform it.
1 Use PTT parameter programming and set parameter PPK = 0 in the VECU (MID 144).
2 Verify proper engine brake operation while in cruise mode after programming is complete.
