Dealers must perform this Service Campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer retail
delivery and whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair.
When a vehicle arrives at the service department, access Hyundai Motor America's "warranty
vehicle information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open campaigns.
Description: On certain 2015-16MY Veloster (FS) the tailgate handle may not function properly due to
an internal issue with the tailgate switch. This condition may affect the tailgate open and closing
functionality.
This bulletin describes the procedure to replace the tailgate switch for the Veloster (FS).

Open the tailgate (A).

TAILGATE SWITCH REPLACEMENT (SERVICE CAMPAIGN T1O)
To remove the tailgate trim panel (B), remove the
tailgate center trim (B1) and tailgate side trim (B2)
by gently pulling on the panel to disengage the
panel clips.
Note: Yellow circle indicates clip locations.

Disconnect the tailgate outside handle connector
(C).

Remove the tailgate outside handle nuts (D).
Tightening torque:
1.9- 2.9 Nm (0.2 - 0.3 kgf.m, 1.4 - 2.1 lb-ft)

Unlock the tailgate outside handle locking clips
(E).

Remove the tailgate outside handle assembly (F).

Disconnect the tailgate switch connector (G).
8.
Remove the tailgate switch screws (H).
9.
Remove the switch assembly (J) from the outside
handle (I).

10.
Remove the clip (K) in the red arrow direction on
the switch assembly (J).
11.
Reuse the clip (K) for the new switch assembly
(J).
Install the new switch assembly (J) to the outside
handle.
Reinstall all the removed parts in reverse order of
removal.
Operate the tailgate by opening and closing a few
times to ensure proper operation. Ensure proper
operation of the backup camera.
Service procedure is now complete.
