SECTION: 310-00 DMTL Pump Water/Ice Ingress AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE: XJ Range (X351) Model Year: 2010 Onwards VIN: V00001 Onwards Manufacturing Plant: Castle Bromwich Engine: V6 S/C 3.0L Petrol V8 5.0L Petrol V8 S/C 5.0L Petrol MARKETS: USA CONDITION SUMMARY: Situation: The engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may be illuminated. Upon diagnosis, the technician may find one or more of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) stored in the Engine Control Module (ECM): P043E-00, P0442-00, P0447-00, P0496-00, P2401-00, P2402-00, P2403-00, P2404-00, P2406-00, P2407-00, P240A-00, P240C-00, and/or P240C-85. Cause: This may be caused by water/ice, caused by spray from the road tires, becoming trapped within the Diagnostic Module Tank Leakage (DMTL) pump filter. Action: Should a customer express this concern, follow the Service Instruction below. Always refer to TOPIx to obtain the latest repair time. NOTE: DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero. SERVICE INSTRUCTION: 1. NOTE: one or both of the following must be verified. Prior to replacing any components, verify one or both of the following: • Diagnostic Module Tank Leakage (DMTL) pump failure • Blocked 'Atmospheric vent pipe - DMTL pump to filter' due to debris breaching the 'DMTL (diagnostic module - tank leakage) filter' 2. Install a new fuel tank filler pipe, (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 310-01) follow Steps 1-11. 3. Install a new evaporative emission canister, (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 303-13). 4. Install the protective foam in the area shown. 5. Make sure the protective foam is installed in the correct area. http://topix.jaguar.jlrint.com/topix/service/document/564528 8/20/2015 Page 3 of 4 6. NOTE: the cable tie is supplied installed through the protective foam. Secure the protective foam to the metal pipe with the supplied cable tie. 7. Install the rear wheel arch liner. • Torque: 3Nm 8. Install the rear wheel. • Torque: 128Nm http://topix.jaguar.jlrint.com/topix/service/document/564528 8/20/2015 Page 4 of 4 CAUTION: a Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during SDD diagnosis / module programming. CAUTION: ensure all ignition 'ON' / ignition 'OFF' requests are carried out; failure to perform these steps may cause damage to control modules in the vehicle. 9. Connect the Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply to the vehicle battery. 10. Turn ignition 'ON' (engine not running). 11. Connect the Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) system to the vehicle and begin a new session. 12. Follow the on-screen prompts, allowing SDD to read the VIN and identify the vehicle and initiating the data collect sequence. 13. Read and clear the DTCs. 14. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task, ensuring all DTCs are cleared. 15. Exit the current session. 16.
