C hanges are highlighted in gray SECTION: 310-00 DMTL Pump Water/Ice Ingress AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE: XJ Range (X351) Model Year: 2010-2015 VIN: V00001-V90865 Manufacturing C astle Bromwich Plant: Engine: V6 S/C 3.0L Petrol V8 5.0L Petrol V8 S/C 5.0L Petrol MARKETS: USA CONDITION SUMMARY: Situation: The engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may be illuminated. Upon diagnosis, the technician may find one or more of the following Diagnostic Trouble C odes (DTC ) stored in the Engine C ontrol Module (EC M): P043E-00, P0442-00, P0447-00, P0496-00, P2401-00, P2402-00, P2403-00, P2404-00, P2406-00, P2407-00, P240A-00, P240C -00, and/or P240C -85. Cause: This may be caused by water/ice, caused by spray from the road tires, becoming trapped within the Diagnostic Module Tank Leakage (DMTL) pump filter. Action: Should a customer express this concern, follow the Service Instruction below. SERVICE INSTRUCTION: 1 NOTE: one or both of the following must be v erified. Prior to replacing any components, verify one or both of the following: Diagnostic Module Tank Leakage (DMTL) pump failure Blocked 'Atmospheric vent pipe - DMTL pump to filter' due to debris breaching the 'DMTL (diagnostic module - tank leakage) filter' 2Install a new fuel tank filler pipe; (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 310-01B / -C : Fuel Tank and Lines ) follow Steps 1-11. 3Install a new evaporative emission canister, (see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 303-13A / -B: Evaporative Emissions). 4Install the protective foam in the area shown. 5Make sure the protective foam is installed in the correct area. http://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/service/document/578168 2/4 10/5/2015 6 JTB00436NAS2 - DMTL Pump Water/Ice Ingress | TOPIx NOTE: the cable tie is supplied installed through the protectiv e foam. Secure the protective foam to the metal pipe with the supplied cable tie. 7Install the rear wheel arch liner. Torque: 3Nm 8Install the rear wheel. Torque: 128Nm http://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/service/document/578168 3/4 10/5/2015 JTB00436NAS2 - DMTL Pump Water/Ice Ingress | TOPIx CAUTION: a Jaguar Land Rov er-approv ed Midtronics battery power supply must be connected to the v ehicle battery during SDD diagnosis / module programming. CAUTION: ensure all ignition 'ON' / ignition 'OF F ' requests are carried out; failure to perform these steps may cause damage to control modules in the v ehicle. 9C onnect the Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply to the vehicle battery. 10Turn ignition 'ON' (engine not running). 11C onnect the Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) system to the vehicle and begin a new session. 12Follow the on-screen prompts, allowing SDD to read the VIN and identify the vehicle and initiating the data collect sequence. 13Read and clear the DTC s. 14Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task, ensuring all DTC s are cleared. 15Exit the current session. 16Disconnect the SDD and the battery power supply from the vehicle. http://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/service/document/578168 4/4
