Some vehicles may exhibit an unusual rattle/buzzing type noise from the presilencer when driving at approximately 1800 rpm. The lower (rear-side) of the pre-silencer may be thermally deformed due to insufficient rigidity (fewer weld spots).

Subject: Bulletin No: 01-024/15 Last Issued: 12/14/2015 UNUSUAL RATTLE/ BUZZ TYPE NOISE FROM PRE-SILENCER BULLETIN NOTE • This bulletin supersedes the previous bulletin 01-026/12 , issued on 11/20/12. The DESCRIPTION, PART(S) and WARRANTY INFORMATION have been revised. • Changes are noted below in Red beside the change bar. APPLICABLE MODEL(S)NINS 2010-2015 CX-9 DESCRIPTION Some vehicles may exhibit an unusual rattle/buzzing type noise from the presilencer when driving at approximately 1800 rpm. The lower (rear-side) of the pre-silencer may be thermally deformed due to insufficient rigidity (fewer weld spots) . The deformed portion may resonate exhaust gas pulsations, which causes noise . A reinforced plate has been added to the pre-silencer to increase the rigidity, thereby eliminating deformation. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure. REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Verify customer concern. 2. Replace the presilencer (A).
