Special Service Message
NOTE: A Special Service Message is a formal communication issued by Jaguar and carries the
same importance of a Technical Service Bulletin. An SSM is a quick method of communicating
"Need To Know" information to the technical service community. SSM's may be issued in advance
of a technical bulletin or may be the only communication on a given topic. All information
contained in Jaguar technical communications are intended for use by trained, professional
technicians with the knowledge, tools, and equipment required to complete the procedure
correctly and safely. It informs the Technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or
provides information that could assist in correct vehicle and diagnostic service.
SSM 73201 - High pressure EGR flagging
DTC`s, Ingenium 2.0D & TDV6 16MY onwards.

Content :Issue: Customer may report MIL (malfunction indicator light) and
/ or a restricted performance warning on their Instrument
display. DTC's may be flagged P0404-77/84, P042E-72 or
P042F-73 applicable to 16MY onwards for Ingenium 2.0D & 3.0
TDV6.
Cause: Unknown at this time, currently being investigated.
Action: Please carry out the following steps:
IDU - High pressure EGR Diagnostic procedure:
Carry out IDU - High pressure EGR routine and complete
any recommendations highlighted by the test results.
Referring to the electrical circuit diagrams and check
the High pressure EGR circuit for short circuit to ground,
short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance.
Check High pressure EGR connector for damage,
corrosion, backed-out pin etc.
Please submit an ePQR upon completion of these steps.
