The MIL may be illuminated. Water and/or ice is found in the activated carbon filter reservoir and natural vacuum leak detection (NVLD) pressure switch. DTC P0451 (pressure sensor for tank ventilation system, implausible signal) is found in the engine control module (ECM), J623 (address word 0001). Technical Background Water enters through the tank ventilation system. The water can flow through the NVLD pressure switch into the activated charcoal filter and freeze in cold temperatures. Production Solution Not applicable. Service 1. Remove activated charcoal filter, ventilation tube, and NVLD pressure switch. Cap off opening to prevent any liquid from escaping. 2. Weigh activated charcoal filter: If it weighs more than 2600 grams, replace the activated charcoal filter, ventilation tube (Figure 1), and NVLD pressure switch.
