POSSIBLE CAUSES At least one self-locking nut at the top of the front damper/spring assembly is loose. CORRECTIVE ACTION Inspect the vehicle and if necessary, replace the self-locking nut(s). Operation Number Description 4145A5 Inspect and replace the selflocking nuts (includes test- drive) Defect Code: Flat Rate Time Template ID Failed Part Number 0.4 hr 14-067A 51611-T2A-315 07405 Symptom Code: 04201 Skill Level: Repair Technician DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Test-drive the vehicle to confirm if the clunk or rattle is coming from the front suspension. The noise may also sound like it is coming from under the dash. 2. Check the torque of the two self-locking nuts located at the top of the front damper/spring assemblies using a 6mm hex wrench, 17mm socket, strut nut adapter, and a torque wrench set to 44 N·m (32 ft-lb). If the nuts are properly torqued and do not move, this bulletin does not apply. Continue with normal troubleshooting. If either nut is loose, go to step 3. 3. Remove the loose self-locking nut(s), install new a self-locking nut(s) and torque them to 44 N·m (32 ft-lb) using a 6mm hex wrench, 17mm socket, strut nut adapter, and a torque wrench.
