• Recall 252296 [USA]: Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Honda (american honda motor co.) is recalling certain 2013-2023 honda accord, civic coupe, civic sedan, civic hatchback, civic type r, cr-v, hr-v, ridgeline, odyssey, acura ilx, mdx, mdx hybrid, rdx, rlx, tlx, 2019-2022 honda insight, passport, 2020 honda cr-v hybrid, 2018-2019 honda clarity phev, fit, and 2015-2020 honda accord hybrid, pilot, acura nsx vehicles. The fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.
  dealers will replace the fuel pump module, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed february 5, 2024. • Recall 159393 [USA]: A broken drive shaft may cause a sudden loss of drive power. the vehicle could also roll away if the parking brake has not been applied before the vehicle has been exited. either condition can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
  Honda (american honda motor co.) is recalling certain 2013-2015 accord vehicles equipped with a 4-cylinder engine and a continuously-variable transmission that were originally sold, or ever registered, in connecticut, delaware, district of columbia, illinois, indiana, iowa, kentucky, maine, maryland, massachusetts, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, virginia, west virginia, and wisconsin. The drive shafts were assembled with a lubricant that may have degraded the drive shafts' protective coating, making it more susceptible to damage from road salt or other contaminants, and potentially cause it to break.

  Honda (american honda motor co.) is recalling certain 2013-2016 honda accord vehicles. The case for the battery sensor, part of the battery management system, may allow water to get in, potentially causing an electrical short.

Electrical interference may cause the hybrid system to switch into fail-safe mode, disabling the gasoline engine, limiting the vehicle's speed to 40 miles per hour and functioning only on battery power. • Recall 2020609 [Canada]: Powertrain
  Issue: on certain vehicles, the paint on the front axle shafts could delaminate or become damaged by road debris. As a result the axle shaft could corrode. If this happens, the axle shafts could break and cause a loss of power to the wheels. Also, if this happens and the vehicle is parked without the parking brake applied, the vehicle could roll away. Safety risk: a loss of power to the wheels or a vehicle rollaway could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: honda will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect, and if necessary, replace both axle shafts.

  On certain vehicles, the case for the battery sensor may have been improperly manufactured with gaps that could allow for moisture intrusion. If moisture or road salt were to enter the battery sensor case, it could result in corrosion to the sensor, which could cause an electrical short, increasing the risk of a fire causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will inspect, and replace the battery sensor as necessary.

  On certain vehicles, during assembly, some of the connecting rod bolts may not have been torqued to the correct specification. If a connecting rod bolt was not torqued correctly, it could loosen and result in the engine making an unusual rattling/knocking noise, leaking oil, and/or engine failure. Engine failure would result in a loss of motive power, which would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the engine short block.

• Recall 2015426 [Canada]: Electrical
  On certain vehicles, the cell voltage sensor (cvs) could incorrectly interpret electrical noise, which could cause the vehicle to switch to a fail-safe electric vehicle (ev) mode. If this were to occur while driving at highway speed, the internal combustion engine would shut off and the vehicle would experience a sudden loss of power, and the maximum speed limited to about 60 km/h. In fail-safe ev mode, visual and audible warnings would be displayed, and the vehicle may be able to travel for up to three kilometers before the high voltage battery discharges. If the battery were to completely discharge while the vehicle is still in operation, the vehicle will stall, resulting in a loss of motive power, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. • Pedestrian alert sounds investigation # DP22005

  Nhtsa received a petition on or about july 18, 2022, requesting that federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the united states. The petition can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under odi number 11486072.Fmvss 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 kg or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after march 1, 2021.The petitioner asserts that hybrid and electric vehicles to which the standard does not apply should be found to contain a safety defect. In support of the petition, the petitioner includes findings contained in a bill introduced in the house of representatives in 2009, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2009, h.R. 734, 111th cong. (2009). A related bill, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2010, became law in january 2011 (pub. L. 111-373). The petitioner requests that nhtsa require all electric and hybrid vehicles comply with fmvss 141, regardless of production date.The defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and determine whether to grant or deny the petition.The associated product list is not exhaustive and may contain vehicles that are equipped with pedestrian alert sounds.

• Loss of direction control investigation # EA21001

  The office of defects investigation (odi) received a petition dated october 19, 2020 requesting an investigation of an alleged defect in the steering system in model year (my) 2013 honda accord vehicles. The petitioner alleges that my2013 honda accord vehicles are experiencing a sudden loss of steering control as the vehicle veers from its intended path of travel. The petitioner further alleges that this deviation from the intended path of travel occurs without warning or driver input while operating the vehicle under normal driving conditions. The petition itself can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under odi number 11349961.On november 23, 2020 odi opened a defect petition (dp20-005) to evaluate whether to grant or deny the petition. Odi sent two information request (ir) letters to honda requesting information on steering anomalies in my2013 honda accord vehicles and later in my2014-2015 honda accord vehicles. Odi performed extensive analysis on the information obtained from honda as well as information in nhtsas databases.Based on odis review of the applicable materials, including responses to ir letters sent to honda, vehicle owner questionnaires (voq) and early warning reporting data, nhtsa has decided to grant the petition. • Air bag acu electrical overstress investigation # EA19001

  The office of defects investigation (odi) is expanding the investigation to include the equipment supplier and vehicle manufacturers (oems) using this unit.The investigation focuses on acus manufactured by trw, now zf-trw (zf) , the tier-one supplier to hyundai and kia and the other affected oems.The acu senses a vehicle crash to determine whether air bag deployment is required, and if so, deploys the appropriate air bags and other supplemental restraints.Zf supplied subject acus to six oems: fca, honda, hyundai, kia, mitsubishi and toyota.Internal to the acu is an electronic component (an application specific integrated circuit, or asic) that monitors signals from crash sensors.A failure of the asic may prevent deployment of the required air bags and devices, or may otherwise affect the proper operation of the acu.The acu is located in the passenger compartment, and electrical wiring connects the asic to sensors located at the front of the vehicle.Odi’s current understanding is that a crash event may, in and of itself, produce harmful signals on the sensor wiring capable of damaging the asic, although the probability of this occurring appears to be low.While the acu incorporates electrical circuitry intended to protect the asic from harmful signals, the level and effectiveness of the protective circuitry varies by oem customer.During pe18-003, hyundai and kia filed recalls (18v-137 and 18v-363 respectively) to address a defect that could result in acu disablement and non-deployments.According to the filings, the disablement occurs in certain types of frontal crash events.Both filings discussed a condition known as electrical overstress (eos) that affected the subject asic and was likely caused by electrical signals that entered the acu via sensor wiring.The recalled vehicles used acus that had the lowest levels of asic protection while non-recalled hyundai and kia products using subject acus had higher levels of protection.Odi has not identified any eos failures in the non-recalled kia and hyundai populations.In september 2016, fca filed recall 16v-668 for certain model year (my) 2010 to 2014 chrysler, dodge and jeep products also manufactured with the subject acu.In that filing, fca also discussed an eos condition that resulted in a failure of the subject asic, which caused air bag non-deployment. Fca noted that the defect condition had only been observed in vehicles equipped with sensor harnessing routed across the front of the vehicle.Other fca vehicles that also used the subject acu, but not the cross-car harnessing, had not experienced eos failures, despite similar time in service. The recalled fca vehicles used a mid-level form of asic protection.Other fca vehicles that did not use cross car wiring, or used higher levels of asic protection, have not been recalled.Odi has not identified any eos failures in the non-recalled fca population.Recently, odi has identified two substantial frontal crash events (one fatal) involving toyota products where eos is suspected as the likely cause of the non-deployments.The crashes involved a my 2018 and a my 2019 corolla equipped with the subject acu that incorporated higher levels of asic protection.Additionally, both acus were found to be non-communicative (meaning the acu could not be read with an event data recorder) after the crash, a condition found in other cases where eos occurred with other oems.No other eos events have been identified for other toyota products (including corolla models that used the subject acu since my 2011), or for the honda and mitsubishi vehicles that use the subject acu.Odi plans to evaluate the susceptibility of the subject acu designs to electrical signals, as well as other vehicle factors that can either lead to, or reduce the likelihood of, an eos event.Additionally, odi will evaluate whether an unreasonable risk exists that requires further field action.

Transmission is not shifting. Also, when backing up car may jump and then stall.

When accelerating it does like it’s running out of gas and doesn’t want to go… i can feel the car sputting! I was going through a light that had turned green and an 18wheeler was coming up behind me thought the car wasn’t going to accelerate

I will occasionally lose control of steering on turns, feels as if the steering wheel becomes unresponsive

As the car is running in the highway lost power and can not accelerate

Took my sister to a car dealership to look at a car and had my car running for a couple of hours due to me having kids and it was hot out. And i accidentally turned my car off and car wouldn’t start back up it kept saying key fob was missing and the key was hanging up on my rear view mirror. Had to literally wait 10 minutes before car would start back up. Honda really needs to get that fixed a.S.A.P that was definitely a scary experience for me especially having my two young kids with me. I can’t afford to be stranded somewhere.

My 2015 honda accord has been giving me problems for more than three years already so every time i turn it on there is a beep three times as soon as i turn on the ignition key then now in often the car does not turn on, so i have to wait like 30 minutes so the car will start again, also about three times all the lights on the windchill had turn off including the radio in the phone chargers everything was pure black and it was in the middle of the night so i couldn’t see nothing on my way home that’s when i had to stop on the right shoulder on the freeway 14 because i couldn’t see to drive with no lights so i turn off the car and wait for a couple of minutes then the car turn on and the lights went back on and actually today i had to call the towing truck to pick me up to take it to the mechanic because it was not turning on not even after 30 minutes but after two hours the car turn on this happened when i was on the gas station putting gasand when i try to turn it on after putting gas that’s when the car didn’t wanna start i was in arcadia city california and we were almost 90° and it was really hot with no shade and i was all by myself no where to go i am very tired of this and i am scared if this happened when i am in the intersection when there’s a lot of traffic, it seems that this problem is been happening very often now it’s been getting worse and worse,

Vehicle does not start 100% of the time. The safety issue is that being stranded, when it doesn't start , with small children in a rural area is dangerous. The dealer as well as honda has no solution for the problem. Repairs suggested have all been made and the problem still exists. I know nothing will be done because of this letter, but whomever is reading this i would suggest that you not purchase a honda product if you care for your family. On may, 25, 2021 my family were on the highway and all of a sudden the car started stalling. In which the accelerater started braking instead of moving, the car was slowing with all the lights turning on on the dashboard. Fcu failure message flashing with engine sign, ldw, fcw, tire pressure, stability sign, steering sign all came on. It almost caused us to have an accident. My kids my wife everyones were screaming because other cars and trucks around us, and we didn't know what's going on with out car and other cars were honking at us. We were all so scared and my wife was crying, my kids were crying. We signal with our hands out of the car to get to the shoulder and stopped the car. We thought we are going to die if any of the trucks or cars hit us. Never scared in our life like that day. So still my car is on my driveway parked. There is a recall of the 6 cylinder of 2015 manufactured. But not for the 4 cylinder same safety issues other people have. I contacted the american honda but they are denying any safety issues 2015 honda accord 4 cylinder have engin failure. Please issue a safety recall so it will be safer before someone's family is put in danger instead of not knowing when their cars engin fails.
