STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Identify which compartment door switch is installed (either Pollak or Cole Hersee). Kit S2623-001 is required for the Pollak switch and kit S-2623-002 is required for the Cole Hersee
switch. Refer to FIG. 3-1 for switch identification.

2. Remove the existing mechanical door switch on the latch side of the compartment door
frame and discard existing switch. Install rubber bump stop provided in kit into existing switch
location. Refer to FIG. 4-1 for possible locations.

3. Install new switch bracket on the hinge side of the compartment with vertical placement
(dimension “X”) in a best fit location for compartment options. The outboard face of the bracket
should be 0.25” from the outboard face of the bulb seal flange. Refer to FIG. 5-1 and FIG. 5-2.

4. Install the door switch contact bracket on the interior surface of the compartment door using
urethane adhesive Sika Tack Ultrafast US or equivalent. Clean and prime the surfaces per the
adhesive manufacturers recommendations. This bracket should be centered vertically with the
switch bracket at 0.75” from the bottom of the switch bracket. Refer to FIG. 6-1, 6-2.

5. Prior to installing the new switch in the switch bracket, drill and tap the switch mounting hole
using a properly sized drill and tap for 1/2-20 NF thread (Pollak switch) or 3/8-24 NF thread (Cole
Hersee switch).
6. Install the new switch (Pollak or Cole Hersee) in the new switch bracket.

7. Re-route the existing door switch wires from the latch side to the hinge side of the door frame
and re-connect the existing wires to the new door switch. The existing fast-on terminals can be
removed and the wires can be spliced together with solder and heatshrink to reduce the wire
bundle size if desired. Depending on the number of compartment lights, the installation can be
further reduced by using a single piece of 1/2” loom to route both switch and light wiring
together. Refer to FIG. 7-1 and FIG. 8-1.
