The affected vehicles may not be equipped with a pressure protection valve installed between the air reservoir and the lubrication control module. If the air line were to become disconnected between the lubrication control module and the air reservoir, a loss of air to the air brake system could occur. Spartan is recalling certain model year 2007 through 2009 gladiator fire apparatus class 8 vehicles manufactured beginning august 21, 2007 through march 8, 2010, equipped with detroit diesel series 60 engines. The engine may shut down unexpectedly when a diesel particulate filter over temperature condition is detected. spartan will notify owners and detroit diesel will repair the vehicles free of charge by reprogramming the engine control logic to illuminate a malfunction indicator light without requesting engine shutdown. Recall 2018043 [Canada]: Electrical
On certain vehicles equipped with an iota 50 amp transfer switch which is used to switch power between on-vehicle generator and shoreline power. Under certain heavy duty cycles, the lugs on the buss bar may loosen. Under high electrical loads, loose electrical connections could cause the circuit to overheat, which would increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the iota switch.
Recall 2014466 [Canada]: Powertrain
On certain emergency response chassis cabs equipped with a transmission retarder, the transmission fluid cooler may fail, allowing engine coolant to mix with transmission fluid. This could result in the transmission to not shift into certain ranges, or could lock into a range where upshifting may be restricted, which could increase the risk of a vehicle crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will replace the transmission cooler.

Recall 2010356 [Canada]: Brakes
Certain fire trucks equipped with tandem rear axles and electronic stability control (esc) fail to meet the service brake release requirements of canada motor vehicle safety standard 121 - air brake systems. The service brake release time is greater than the requirement and, if service brake release timing does meet the minimum requirements of the standard, may result in less efficient braking performance and will prevent the vehicle from being moved in a timely fashion. Correction: dealers will replace the brake hoses with larger diameter versions.
Recall 2010450 [Canada]: Suspension
Certain fire trucks equipped with a ridewell independent front suspension (ifs) cradle may be missing or have incomplete critical welds at the bell crank support brackets. Lacking or insufficient welds may lead to a complete separation of the bell crank support bracket from the main structure (cradle assembly). A complete separation of the bell crank support bracket(s) could restrict steering movement and result in a vehicle crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: ridewell will inspect for missing welds. If cracks are identified the suspension cradle will be replaced. If no cracks are found the required welds will be applied.
