Recall 2018043 [Canada]: Electrical
On certain vehicles equipped with an iota 50 amp transfer switch which is used to switch power between on-vehicle generator and shoreline power. Under certain heavy duty cycles, the lugs on the buss bar may loosen. Under high electrical loads, loose electrical connections could cause the circuit to overheat, which would increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the iota switch.
Recall 2015310 [Canada]: Brakes
On certain fire trucks, front tire valve stems may wear against the brake calipers, potentially resulting in a leak and tire air loss without warning while the vehicle is in motion. This could affect vehicle handling, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect and replace valve stems.
Recall 2014466 [Canada]: Powertrain
On certain emergency response chassis cabs equipped with a transmission retarder, the transmission fluid cooler may fail, allowing engine coolant to mix with transmission fluid. This could result in the transmission to not shift into certain ranges, or could lock into a range where upshifting may be restricted, which could increase the risk of a vehicle crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will replace the transmission cooler.
Recall 2014210 [Canada]: Engine
On certain vehicles equipped with cummins ism or caterpillar c9 engines, the engine cooling fan may fail and break apart. If this occurs while the hood is open, a person in the vicinity of the engine could be struck by the blade and injured. Correction: dealers will replace the radiator fan and install a stiffener disc.
Recall 2014027 [Canada]: Engine
On certain vehicles equipped with cummins ism engines, the engine cooling fan may fail and break apart. If this occurs while the hood is open, a person in the vicinity of the engine could be struck by the blade and injured. Correction: dealers will replace the radiator fan and install a stiffener disc.
Recall 2011382 [Canada]: Other
On certain vehicles, specific operating conditions (such as tight, successive, highly banked curves in opposite directions), could trigger unintended electronic stability control (esc) system intervention. As a result, the esc may unnecessarily apply one of the front brakes in order to correct the perceived oversteer condition. This may cause the vehicle to deviate from the intended path, thereby increasing the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will replace the esc module.
Recall 2010133 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
On certain fire trucks, the seatbelt anchorages may not conform to the requirements of canada motor vehicle safety standard 210 - seat belt assembly anchorages. During a crash, the seatbelt may separate from the cab and fail to properly restrain the occupant(s). This may result in personal injury or death to the seat occupant. Correction: dealers will install a reinforcement bracket to distribute loads to the main structure of the cab.
Recall 2010136 [Canada]: Engine
Certain fire trucks equipped with a detroit diesel epa 07 series 60 engine may contain software which could cause the engine to shutdown unexpectedly when a diesel particulate filter over-temperature condition is detected. Unexpected emergency vehicle engine shutdown could hamper rescue operations and increase the risk of property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: dealers will reprogram the engine control logic.
Recall 2010245 [Canada]: Electrical
On certain fire trucks equipped with a meritor wabco electronic stability control (esc) system, electromagnetic interference may simulate a false yaw event in the control module for the esc system, leading the system to inadvertently interpreting a vehicle instability. Inadvertent brake application to a selected wheel without prior warning may cause the driver to try and over correct, resulting in a vehicle crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will relocate the transmission power cable.
Recall 2010356 [Canada]: Brakes
Certain fire trucks equipped with tandem rear axles and electronic stability control (esc) fail to meet the service brake release requirements of canada motor vehicle safety standard 121 - air brake systems. The service brake release time is greater than the requirement and, if service brake release timing does meet the minimum requirements of the standard, may result in less efficient braking performance and will prevent the vehicle from being moved in a timely fashion. Correction: dealers will replace the brake hoses with larger diameter versions.
