Noise is due to a fracture/crack in the plastic over mold of the door check arm by the pivot area. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address this condition. NOTE If the vehicle is being repaired due to damage resulting from an accident, this Service Bulletin and part numbers listed do NOT apply. Follow normal parts order and Repair Procedures. Confirm the noise: operate the door to confirm that the noise was from the performance of the check arm. Is the noise present? YES — Continue to step 2. NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual. 2. Visually inspect for fracture/cracking or ANY damage on the plastic resin of the check arm by the pivot area as shown in Figure 1. Is there ANY fracture/cracking on the plastic over mold of the check arm? YES — Check arm MUST be replaced. NO — Continue to Step 3. 3. Confirm the torque value of the 3 check arm mounting fasteners: Figure 2. Bolt (1): Torque: 29 N*m (296 kgf*cm, 21 ft*lbf) 2 Nuts (2): Torque: 8.5 N*m (87 kgf*cm, 75 in*lbf) 1 2 1 Bolt 2 Nut (2) Is the noise still present after confirming the fastener torques? YES — Continue to step 4. NO — This bulletin does NOT apply.
