Introduction
Some 2008 – 2016 Sequoia and 2007 – 2017 model year Tundra vehicles may exhibit a loud
popping noise when operating the front doors. Noise is due to a fracture/crack in the plastic over
mold of the door check arm by the pivot area. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to
address this condition.
NOTE
If the vehicle is being repaired due to damage resulting from an accident, this Service Bulletin
and part numbers listed do NOT apply. Follow normal parts order and Repair Procedures.

months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.

Repair Procedure
1. Confirm the noise: operate the door to confirm that the noise was from the performance of the
check arm.
Is the noise present?
 YES — Continue to step 2.
 NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.
2. Visually inspect for fracture/cracking or ANY damage on the plastic resin of the check arm by
the pivot area as shown in Figure 1.
Is there ANY fracture/cracking on the plastic over mold of the check arm?
 YES — Check arm MUST be replaced.
 NO — Continue to Step 3.
3. Confirm the torque value of the 3 check arm
mounting fasteners:

Torque: 29 N*m (296 kgf*cm, 21 ft*lbf)

 YES — Continue to step 4.
