  Toyota motor engineering & manufacturing (toyota) is recalling certain jtekt power steering gear assembly service parts for 2007-2021 tundra and 2008-2022 sequoia, part numbers 44250-0c160, 44250-0c131, 44250-0c170, and 11250-0c121. The power steering gear assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can result in an oil leak.

• Recall 116479 [USA]: If the sliding electrical contacts are not protected by lubricant, debris and moisture that get into the switch may cause a short circuit and the switch assembly may overheat and melt, increasing the risk of a fire.

• Recall 93402 [USA]: If the switch overheats, it may melt, possibly resulting in a fire.
  Toyota is recalling certain model year 2007-2009 camry, camry hybrid, rav4, corolla, corolla matrix, tundra, sequoia, highlander, highlander hybrid, yaris, scion xb, scion xd and pontiac vibe vehicles. The power window master switch assemblies in some of these vehicles were built using a less precise process for lubricating the internal components of the switch assemblies. Irregularities in this lubrication process may cause the power window master switch assemblies to malfunction and overheat.

• Recall 76836 [USA]: Failure to warn of tire deflations is a non-compliance with fmvss 138 and could lead to tire failure increasing the risk of a crash.
  Toyota is recalling certain model year 2008 through 2011 fj cruiser, land cruiser, tacoma, sequoia and tundra vehicles for failing to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 138, "tire pressure monitoring system (tpms)." when factory-installed wheels and tires were replaced with toyota authorized accessory wheels and lt tires prior to first sale, the tire pressure monitoring systems were not re-calibrated correctly and therefore do not start illuminating the low tire pressure warning telltale at the required minimum activation pressure.
  for the land cruiser, sequoia, tacoma and tundra vehicles, the dealer will re-calibrate the tire pressure monitoring system on affected vehicles and install an updated tire and loading information label at no charge. For the fj cruiser vehicles, the tpms cannot be reset so the electronic control unit (ecu) for the tpms will be replaced. Toyota is currently developing the remedy ecu. • Recall 73388 [USA]: The accelerator pedal may become hard to depress, slow to return to idle, or, in the worst case, mechanically stuck in a partially depressed position, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Toyota is recalling certain model year 2005-2010 avalon, model year 2007-2010 camry, model year 2009-2010 corolla, corolla matrix, rav4, model year 2010 highlander, model year 2008-2010 sequoia, and model year 2007-2010 tundra vehicles. Due to the manner in which the friction lever interacts with the sliding surface of the accelerator pedal inside the pedal sensor assembly, the sliding surface of the lever may become smooth during vehicle operation. In this condition, if condensation occurs on the surface, as may occur from heater operation (without a/c) when the pedal assembly is cold, the friction when the accelerator pedal is operated may increase, which may result in the accelerator pedal becoming harder to depress, slower to return, or, in the worst case, mechanically stuck in a partially depressed position.

  On certain vehicles, inconsistent application of grease during the manufacturing process could cause the driver's side power window master switch to stick or become inoperative due to electrical contact point wear. This could cause debris to accumulate between the contact points, potentially resulting in an electrical short circuit. If a short circuit occurs, the switch assembly may overheat, produce smoke, melt and/or potentially lead to a fire causing injury and/or property damage.   On certain vehicles, accelerator pedal movement may become rough, slow to return, or the pedal may stick in a depressed position. This could result in a loss of throttle control and a vehicle crash, causing property damage, personal injury or death. Tl* the contact owns a 2009 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that there was rust on the frame and the frame was rotted out from the driver side tire and the surrounding area. The contact noticed spots where holes may start to develop throughout the frame. The contact called toyota of kalamazoo (5850 stadium dr, kalamazoo, mi 49009, (269) 375-1000) and was informed that the vehicle could not be repaired because the vin was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 120,000.

For the 2nd time in 4 years, the air intake pump/valves have malfunctioned. The first time it happened it was covered under toyota's extended warranty that covered this for 10 years/150,000 miles, whichever comes first. I just turned 156,000 miles, and toyota doesn't want to cover it- they also said even if i was under 150,000 miles they wouldn't cover it because they'll only cover the repair one time (unless it fails again within 1year of the repair). The repair costs $2,000+- and is obviously not a permanent fix. This is a design flaw that although related to emissions, can become a safety issue because the vehicle reduces its power to 50% once this error code is triggered. Consumers deserve a permanent fix or warranty for the life of the vehicle if this design flaw can't be corrected, either that or a repair cost that is significantly less than $2,000. This problem occurs when starting and operating- a check engine light comes on as well as other lights.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 toyota sequoia. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, the accelerator pedal became stuck causing an increase of speed up to 80 mph. The brakes and traction control warning lights illuminated. The contact mentioned that the brake pedal had to be depressed continuously in order to stop the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 10v017000 (vehicle speed control). The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the failure was due to the floor mat becoming stuck under the accelerator pedal. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 106,000. The vin was not available. Updated 01/27/16*lj the consumer stated attempts to utilize the brake were met with a hard brake that appeared fully engaged into the floor board. The brake pedal finally released and the accelerator pedal began to return to its normal position and the vehicle stopped accelerating. Updated 02/09/16*jb

My car has run well until this past spring. I could drive it with no problems, but then go to get in it and it would not start. I have had the gas tank cleaned, fuel pump replaced, fuel filter replaced, back in a second time and the "fuel line was kinked" from last repair. Happened again and they thought it might be the key reading wrong, used spare key, happened again and started when the tow truck got there. Happened again and i didn't bother calling. Happened again and i am pissed!!! Now being told it is probably the key, but since they cannot recreate the problem and the computer does not show error readings, they are giving up. Ridiculous!! For the past 3 years, my vsc, abs, brakes and check engine lights came on twice. The first time, the car was under warranty and the dealer replaced the on-board computing unit (about $3000). The second time (last week), the dealer replace the same unit again but i am paying $1400 because the car is no longer under warranty.
