Introduction
Some 2007 – 2015 model year Tundra and 2008 – 2015 model year Sequoia vehicles may
exhibit an abnormal feeling, dragging, or sticking when using the outside door handle. Follow the
Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address this condition.

 This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months
or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.

Repair Procedure
1. Remove the outside door handle cover.
A. Remove the hole plug.

B. Using a T30 Torx wrench, loosen the
screw and remove the front door outside
handle cover and the door lock key
cylinder (if equipped) as a unit.

2. Remove the outside door handle assembly
by sliding and pulling it in the direction
indicated by the arrow as shown.

3. Disassemble the outside door handle.
A. Remove the screw from the outside door
handle assembly previously removed
from the vehicle.

NOTICE
 The screw is secured using thread
locking compound. When attempting
to remove the screw, use a high
quality, #2 Philips screwdriver, with
an undamaged tip.
 To minimize slipping and to reduce
the risk of stripping the screw head,
apply firm inward pressure while
turning the screw.
B. Remove the door handle inner from the
outside door handle outer cover by
rotating it in the direction indicated by the
arrow as shown and discard the outside
door handle inner.

4. Reassemble the outside door handle.
A. Install the NEW door handle inner to the
OLD outside door handle cover by
engaging the two tabs.
B. Seat the cover by rotating in the direction
indicated by the arrow as shown.

C. Apply thread locking compound to the threads of the screw.
D. Install the screw in the outside door handle.
Torque: 2.6 N*m (26.5 kgf*cm, 23 in*lbf)

5. Install the outside door handle assembly by
pushing it in the direction of the arrow
as shown.

6. Install the outside handle cover.
A. Using a T30 Torx socket, install the
outside handle cover and the door lock
key cylinder (if equipped) as a unit.
Torque: 4.0 N*m (41 kgf*cm, 35 in*lbf)
