Retailers are testing the primary battery using the Midtronics EXP-1080 tester which is reporting the battery is serviceable. The vehicle then returns with the same Customer concern of ECO Stop/Start inoperative. If a Midtronics GRX-3080 is used, the primary battery fails the test. Replacement of the primary battery resolves the concern. Action: When completing Primary battery diagnosis for Eco Stop concerns, it is recommended to use the Midtronics GRX-3080 battery tester, and the GR8 for (USA and Japan only) JLR are currently investigating a hand held battery tester to replace the Midtronics EXP-1080. The Midtronics EXP-1080 can be used for PDI and battery checks.
